It's so handy to have a resident origami folder.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I post a picture and just a few words.

Last week, I was writing a post for Rent.com about Valentine's crafts to do with kids, and I wanted to include origami hearts, because they're super easy to make.

But I couldn't quite find what I wanted on the interwebs (and besides, the process of using an internet photo is a pain because you have to email the owner and ask for permission.)

So, I had Lisey fold some for me.

Whenever I need to use someone else's photos for a writing project, I'm always reminded that blogging is so much simpler when you can provide your own photos.   There's no worrying about copyright and crediting...if it's yours, you can use it however you want.

So, yay for DIY blog photography!

(and for a household origami artist. 😉 )

  1. I used to love origami! Did she come up with the folding pattern herself? Those hearts are adorable!

    1. No, that's a pretty common origami pattern, I think. There are some super fancy version out there, but this one is nice and simple.

  2. Cute! Much better (and more fun) to take your own photos. Even though I'm not the best photographer, taking pictures is my favorite part of blogging. It's like an artistic outlet even when it's a simple shot.

  3. Consider me inspired...I'm going to put my husband, our resident origami master to work ASAP so these can be delivered to the pre-school on Friday!

  4. Thank you for the tip on the "All You" magazine. I have a current subscription that expires in September but was able to use this to extend my renewal. I even renewed it on the 18th, after the special offer expired, but it still gave me the good rate. Thanks so much!
