Oh, nothing...
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I post a photo and just a few words.
It's just me over here, cooking dinner AND IT'S STILL LIGHT OUT.

Sorry.
I'm just a little bit excited about the lengthening days.
Have you noticed? Every day, there's just a little bit more time before the sun goes down, and it makes my heart happy. Even though it's snowed the last two days, I know spring is on its way.
I didn't even have to turn the dining room light on during dinner yesterday. What the what??
Incidentally, have you ever thought how lovely it is that the darkest day of the year happens before Christmas, while we're still all "Ooh, it's holiday-sparkly lights-presents season!" and we barely notice how dark it is?
And then once the holidays are over, the days are already lengthening, bit by bit.
(In case you were wondering, I was in the midst of making Aussie Chicken when I took this photo last night.)

Less than a week and a half away and we can...Spring forward!! whoo-hooo!
Oh, right! I forgot. That's even happier news.
Is that the knife you use for your cutting and chopping? If so, may I recommend that your next upgrade purchase be a good knife? I makes cooking amazingly easier. If/when you're ready, I have lots of knowledge to share.
No, generally not...I have a Victorinox Forschner chef's knife (bought on Cook's recommendation) that I usually use. But I just had to slice up some mushrooms and so I grabbed that one. Maybe my chef's knife was dirty? I'm not sure.
I would HATE to try to mince onions with the knife in the photo...it would be a nightmare! I mostly just use it like a paring knife...like for cutting up apple slices and such.
William!
I wouldn't mind some suggestions on knives! We have garbage now, and it does make cooking a lot harder.
Nom nom nom nom nom my family and I love this recipe!! Well there arent many that you post for dinner that we haven't like to eat :o)
Yes! I've noticed! And.I.can't.wait.for.Spring.
We can get back to exercising after dinner! Yippee!!
P.S. Oh.my.gosh. I just clicked on your Aussie chicken recipe! I'm so putting that on the menu! YUM!
After this crazy, harsh winter, it's been such a joy to see the days lengthening. We keep backyard ducks, for the eggs, and the three girls were down to two eggs the first time the Polar Vortex swung through town. Egg laying is more abundant with more light, not necessarily more heat, so although temps are still cold, we've watched the girls progress from three to four eggs every morning. By spring and summer, we'll be at six as the days lengthen. Nature is so very fascinating to watch.
I don't know if you will get it if you sign up for Sherwin Williams emails now, but I just received an email coupon from them for 30% off. I believe it's good through Tuesday. Good timing for us, because we plan to redo our deck and paint downstairs over spring break.
I see someone mentioned springing forward. One of my most favorite things about living in Arizona is no more DST!!!!! No more feeling exhausted for a week twice a year! 🙂
Yesterday I read a reminder about turning the clocks ahead in early March. My heart leapt! I've not been a hater of this cold winter but the darkness gets me down.
I've been enjoying the longer daylight at both ends of the day - and since I'm an earlier riser and morning person, I don't really care for DST. It means loss of an hour of morning light as well as a week or two of disorientation 🙁
Yes! I've been tracking each day's sunset time. I can't wait for the day I can come home from work and go on a long jog while it's still bright outside. =)
I love that it's getting lighter out! The weather hasn't been too bad here in Myrtle Beach, but still, I'm looking forward to warmer and sunnier days.
Did you realize that The Kitchn food blog used one of your pictures and has linked your recipe for pizza bagels? It is in their post about recipes from the 1990s. I just saw it and thought I would let you know in case you hadn't seen it. I think that is super cool. I love the Kitchn and I love the frugal girl. 🙂
Oh, that is so cool. Yay!! I'm very honored.
I can't wait for DST!
Your Aussie chicken looks so yummy!
I walk DH to work up a steep hill at 5:45am. I have noticed when I get to the top of the hill and turn around that the sky is blue around the edges instead of black. This has elated me for two days in a row now. Oh, I can't wait until the time changes. I am a spring/summer sort of girl.
I check my phone forecast every day just to see when the sun sets. It's getting very close to still being light when I leave work at 6:15.
As someone who struggles with depression year-round, I am always happy as the days get longer and longer.
Not a fan of DST or time changing in general...don't see the point in it! Partly because I live in HOT Houston Texas and the onset of DST means summer is on the way, with it's high electric bills and other discomforts!
Yes! I have noticed. But not so positively lol. I know daylight savings time is coming and my girls have such a hard time adjusting. Hope that this year is different!!
