Some pool pictures of me

I always feel a little bit silly posting a bunch of pictures of myself, but I know that I really, really love to see other bloggers come out from behind the camera, and you guys have said you feel the same way.

So, um, here I am.

I took the kids swimming at our neighbor's house on Friday, and several of them wanted to use my camera.

Mr. B's pool is sort of shaded, so it's never very warm. After hemming and hawing for a while, I did decide I was going to get in.

But it took me a while to actually go off the board.

Surely the sun will come out. Maybe?

There was a good deal more of this....

before this.

after which there was this.

But once you're in, it's not toooo bad.

This photo is blurry, but it's making me laugh, so here you go.

A pair of legs sticking up out of the pool.

Ok, this one is kind of funny too (I'm doing a flip).

The lovely thing about doing a flip into a pool is that you never have to worry about sticking a landing...it can be pretty sloppy without being painful.

I also caught Zoe a whole bunch.

Before you look at this next picture, go take a peek at the one of me jumping into my mom's arms. (it'll open in a new window, so you can go look at it and this page will still be here).

Wouldn't you say she takes after me a little bit?

Staying warm in this pool requires occasional bouts of jumping up and down. Helps the blood to circulate. 😉

Oohkay.

That was enough pictures of me for a while.

I'll be behind the camera if anyone needs me.

    1. My parents put in a pool when I was in my early teens, so I learned to do dives and flips off the board then. If I had to learn now, I might not be so brave. =P

      1. I grew up with a pool and only learned a back dive. For some reason I'm inordinately tickled by the fact you do them. I guess I didn't grow up thinking of that as something grownups do. But what good role-modeling for the kids.

  1. This is kind of off-topic, but the "you might also like" stream today pointed me to a post from last year about using flip flops to keep boots standing up straight in your closet. It could not have been more timely for me because I recently re-organized and found I had this exact problem (missing boot box). Thanks, Kristen!

    1. Oh, that's funny. I have no control over what shows up in the little boxes at the bottom, so I can't take any credit.

  2. Sweet! We're hoping it will be lovely and warm at the cottage this weekend for Canada Day. Our wee one will be in the water with her little life jacket.

    1. They did a great job, didn't they? I put it on the setting that keeps focusing until you click the shutter button, but even with that setting, it's a little bit hard to catch the action at just the right moment.

  3. Great photos! Well done, kids!
I remembered which photo (you and your Mom) you meant, even before I looked 🙂
    Lots of fantastic pics 🙂

  4. Love this post!!!!! I adore summer fun with my kids! Luckily, we have a fabulous reservoirs 20 miles from our house in both directions. Sand and swimming. We usually round up all the moms and kids and make it a neighborhood outing. Everyone brings a snacky item, and we put them all out on a table to share. The moms get grown up time and the kids get water time. Win/ win in my book!
P.S. I am still working up the "courage" to add more me pictures to my blog! Baby steps! ; )

  5. Go you! I can't dive. Never been able too. I try, and I just kind of end up jumping in with my hands pointed.

    1. I actually learned how to do a flip off the board before I learned how to dive. I was a veeery slow learner when it came to that.

  6. Love the action shots. Also, your time at the gym in paying off. You're a great role model on how to be a healthy fun adult for your kids!

  7. I like your swimsuit! Of course, I am noticing this because I actually have to go swimsuit shopping this weekend. ugh. But it looks so comfy! Where did you find it?

Isn't it great to have neighbors who share their pool?

    1. I got it at Kohls just a month or so ago. It's by Nike, and you can mix and match whatever you want...there are different top and bottom styles like skirts, shorts, or traditional swimsuit bottoms.

I've had a skirted bottom for the last few years, so I decided to branch out and try shorts this time around.

  8. You're such a cool mom - I hope your kids realize it! 🙂 They may not now, but they will some day. 🙂

Thanks for sharing your pictures and your stories and... your life!

  9. I agree with DawnF... you are definitely a cool mom! I love the photos, and that you shared them! Now I want to go play in the pool!

  10. Swimming at a friends house is very frugal and fun!

Looked like a great day, even if it was a little shady!

You're right, it's great to see pictures of bloggers in there surroundings. Someday once I'm in another line of work, I too, would love to show a bit more of me and my family (starting with my name, it bites being anonymous)!

    Great pics!
