This is not a Q&A post.

Normally I try to write those on Friday nights, since I try not to spend time blogging on the weekends (I want to spend time with my husband since he's not at work!) But I didn't get it done on Friday.

So, instead of having no post today, I thought I'd share some pictures from yesterday. After church, my parents, my siblings, and their families gathered at my brother's house. It wasn't a particular occasion...just a get-together.

My older brother, my sister, and I all have four children and my younger brother has one (You know Miss Adriana if you've been here recently), so these gatherings include a lot of children.

How many kids have a grandpa that jumps on the trampoline with them?

I hope I'm in good enough shape to do that when I'm a grandma. 😉

Mr. FG jumped with them too.

And then he thought I ought to give it a try too, so I did. It was really fun. And exhausting.

Isn't Annalise so adorable on the swing? I love her little feet.

This is my little brother, who hasn't actually been littler than me for quite some time. He's pretty marvelous, and I think everyone should have a brother like him. 😉

He also happens to be the father of Miss Adriana, who is quite delightful in her own right.

I have another baby niece too...I have an embarrassment of small nieces right now, actually...three on my side and one on Mr. FG's side!

Not that I'm complaining at all. You can never have too many small nieces.

Or too many small granddaughters.

My brother has a pretty awesome tree-branch swing.

And he has some good climbing trees too.

Zoe and Sonia tried their hands at driving this little motorized vehicle.

They're pretty bad at it.

"Did you know you almost ran us off the road?"

"I don't care!"

"Seriously. What am I going to do with her?"

Ok! I think that's all I've got for now. I'll be back with more on-topic content tomorrow. 😉

  1. What a lovely post! James is off taking the girls to school, with the boys along for the walk. I just settled down with my post breakfast cup of tea to read your Q&A and instead I'm treated to a delightful off topic (as you put it) post.

I am so happy for you all that you have such a large extended family and that you gather just to gather. What a joy for the children and grandparents, and what amazing trees for climbing and swinging. my girls regularly lament not having good climbing trees in our garden. We have saplings.

I have to say, I'm impressed with your trampolining. I was just thinking about a conversation I'd had with a group of female friends about the challenges of trampolining post babies. I guess we all just need to do more keigels 🙂

    1. Ha! Well, it's been six years since I had a baby....if I'd tried this then, it probably wouldn't have gone so well. 😉

  2. Great photos. I remember doing all of this stuff when I was kid, especially the trampoline...and having a grandpa that will get on the trampoline with them? That's GREAT 🙂 🙂 Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 🙂

  3. Love it! Looks like you had great weather for a great family get together! We spent our Sunday afternoon walking to the gas station for Slushies, reading, and bike riding. Oh and a bit of napping too!

  4. Love those occasions that just come together, that haven't been planned for ages and just happen. Beautiful. Very in the moment.

  5. These pictures are adorable. I am super jealous of that rope swing. I just discovered your blog while link hopping my way through the internet and promptly added you to my reader. Lots of great tips and happy pictures! And I think we live near each other...going back through your posts a lot of the park pictures look awfully familiar. 🙂

  6. Good thing your driver is not close to 16 yet! My 14 year old son is scary when you watch him play driving video games. Oh my gosh, I am not sure I will ever let him drive! Oh, and he is now three inches taller than me! Other than the cat, I am the shortest one in the house now.

  7. These pictures are lovely but I was wondering (it is off-topic, bear with me!!) how it is that your entire family manages to stay so thin. You have mentioned several times that you guys have a great metabolism but I just cannot believe that that is all there is to it. I was raised on a diet of whole wheat bread, vegetables and rice. If I were to eat white bread and some of your Wednesday Baking delights on a daily basis like you do, I would bloat up and not burn it up like you all.. A humble request from a fan of your blog - could you detail the different forms of exercise that your family goes into thereby managing to stay so healthy?
