Weekly Goal Update-#3 for March

(I think I’m going to keep throwing these posts up here on Sundays. I know some of you might not be very interested in my goals, but posting them publicly really helps me! And since I don’t usually post on Sundays, the uninterested among you won’t feel like you’re missing out on a regular FG post. 🙂 )

Last Week

1. Update Quicken

Done. Not gonna lie, though…it wouldn’t have happened without the to-do list.

2. Do a money email for March.

3. Exercise 4 days.

4. Maintain white space in my Outlook inbox.

Yes, but barely. Before I could write this post, I had to tackle some emails I’d been procrastinating on!

5. Take care of the credit card situation (we need to close one and open another joint one).

I ran into a brick wall with this one. It’s a long story…combining accounts would have required closing one account and opening another one. But the company is no longer offering the card we had, and no suitable alternative is being offered (we need an American Express to use at Costco and I don’t want to use debit if possible because our bank charges a small fee every time we do a pin-based transaction.)

So, this is coming off of the to-do list and I will just deal with having two separate log-ins for our credit cards.

6. Spend one morning painting with Mr. FG.

Yup.

(These next three goals are a result of something I read in Eat That Frog, which is that tasks you been putting off are easier if you break them into small chunks. I’ve been majorly putting off some work on Joshua and Lisey’s blogs.)

7. Fix my blog FTP login.

Done.

8. Install The Thesis Theme on Joshua and Lisey’s blogs.

Yup, yup, yup!

9. Help Joshua and Lisey make headers for their blogs.

Also done. Nothing fancy, but there’s something there at least.

10. Book hotels for my trip with Mr. FG.

Sort of. We’ve got a few nights booked, but haven’t quite decided where we’re staying for the other nights. Three down, four to go.

This Week

1. Update Quicken

I’m trying to start a habit here!

2. Maintain email inbox white space.

See above.

3. Finish booking hotels for my trip with Mr. FG.

4. Update the Thesis theme on my two blogs.

I’ve already got Thesis installed but my version is out of date. So, I need to update it. It’s probably a simple process, but I’ve never done it before so I’m prone to procrastination.

Pretty much any blog-related stuff that requires me to move outside my comfy WordPress dashboard makes me procrastinate. 😉

5. Cancel our gym membership.

Mr. FG and I have both been exercising at home, and I think we’ll stick with that at least until Joshua is old enough to babysit his sisters. It’s just a little too tough to get us to the gym with Mr. FG’s current work schedule.

6. Install some hooks for Joshua and Zoe.

Remember the hooks I put up for Sonia and Lisey’s towels? I’ve got some more hooks that I want to install in Joshua and Zoe’s rooms.

7. Plan Lisey’s birthday celebration.

Her birthday’s comin’ up at the end of the month.

8. On that note, we need to buy Lisey’s birthday gifts.

I have a few I’m making for her too, so I’ll include that in this goal.

9. Finish editing photos from a recent session.

10. Finish painting the moulding around the front door.

I’m almost done, but there’s a last little bit that needs to be sanded and painted. And you know, last little bits are just SO easy to put off.

If you hit 'credit' after swiping your debit card, you won't be prompted for a pin and there's no fees for making a purchase. Your purchase is processed offline and is simple and free.

Ditto on what Karen said. The only difference when you chose Credit instead of Debit is you have to sign the receipt like a credit card and will be given the option to get cash back. Other that than, the money is taken out of your checking account just like doing a Debit only without the debit fee! Good Luck!

Re # 5 - needing a certain credit card at Costco.

I've never shopped at a Costco. Can't you use cash?

I try to only use my credit card for prescriptions, gas, and the occasional online purchases. All others are cash transactions, so this issue doesn't often come up for me.

i'd sure shop banks if mine were charging me a fee to use my debit card with a pin based transaction...do you have a credit union near you? Lots of times they don't have the fees that banks do. Did you apply for an American Express THROUGH Costco and not just a "regular" Amex? It's a good deal b/c you get cash back on your transactions and if you pay the bill off, then that is just extra money for you! They send you a check in about Feb of each year that you can either cash at the Costco customer service or they will take it off your purchases at the check out if you are buying stuff that day. If all else fails, call your bank and tell them you're thinking of leaving them b/c of their pin based fees...if you talk to a mgr, i'll bet they don't want to close an account...good luck! and congrats on all the progress!! =)

I really enjoy these goal posts! Anyways one of my goals has been to paint something, or get a room fully finished in our house before the baby is born but I have been having such a hard time choosing colors etc. Somehow it was hard to picture colors with the kitchen cabinets still been ginger/blond oak. Then I had an epiphany...why not start with the kitchen cabinets...duh! So I have painted most of all of the upper cabinets and frame which I started on Wednesday. Once I started I really gained momentum. I think I may get all of them done by the end of the coming weekend...at least that is the goal.

I'm totally thrilled to see that your anniversary vacation included 7 nights! Good for you and Mr. FG. I hope you have a great time and I'm assuming we'll hear all about your travels at some point after your return.
