Some Snow Pictures...

I took a bunch of snow pictures today (well, more accurately, pictures of people in the snow!) and I thought it would be fun to share some of them here because I have more than will fit in a 365 post!

Meet Joe the snowman.

It's a good thing they made him yesterday, because the semi-melted snow turned into mostly ice today.

Joshua and Lisey still managed to throw snowballs at each other, though.

And then we headed down to the pier to do some more sledding (we went on Friday too).

The snow had mostly turned to ice overnight, so it provided a slick, fast ride today.

Sonia gave up on the sledding after not too long, but Zoe is quite the persistent sledder.

Joshua and his friend built a ramp down at the bottom of the hill, and Zoe goes right over it with her saucer. I didn't manage to catch it at quite the right moment, but you'll have to trust me when I say it's hilarious.

I thought she might get tired of flying up into the air and landing with a thump, but she loves it!

Me, on the other hand? I am officially too old to go over jumps because after I tried it yesterday, I ended up with a bruised rib.

We walked down to the dock too.

It's really beautiful down there when it snows.

Part of the water is frozen solid enough for ducks to walk on.

But it's definitely not thick enough for us to walk on (don't worry, we didn't try!).

The kids had fun making snowballs and throwing them out onto the ice.

They skitter across the surface and then break apart, just like they would if you threw them onto a glass tabletop.

When Sonia had had quite enough of waiting for us to be done sledding, we trekked home.

And we drank some hot chocolate. 😉

By the way, Joshua put up several pictures today to make up for the days he missed due to the power being off.

I've got a guest post lined up for tomorrow, so do stop back in. A fellow blogger is going to be sharing about the things she's learned from reading my blog. And of course, Joshua and I plan to get our daily 365 posts up tomorrow too.

Have a lovely Saturday evening!

  1. Great photos! Looks like you had fun! Ouch on the bruised rib though! I liked the hairy snowman, I never thought of using grass for his/her head... Pretty cool.

  2. Wow, looks like you guys had fun. Thanks for posting all the pictures. I bet everyone sleeps good after being outside like that.

  3. Man, the plague and a bruised rib...you've had a rough go of it Kristen! Like how the photos show your children playing, and not just posing, which is sometimes what happens in this household. Wishthat we had a pier close to where we live, one within walking distance, which is the key I think. We have a canal, but we don't get down to it enough.

    1. Yes! I think that's important...it's so easy to fall into the trap of only taking pictures when people are looking at the camera. But if you just record life as it happens, I think the pictures are often more interesting than they are if the subjects are always looking at the camera and smiling.

  4. There is little in the world as wonderful as coming in from a cold snowy day to a warm sweet cup of hot cocoa!!
