Happy New Year!

Well, Happy New Year's Eve is more like it. But tomorrow is Sunday, so I won't be on here to say a proper Happy New Year to all of you!
I just realized that this is the fourth New Year's Eve since I started blogging. Crraazy!
It's hard to believe I'm on my fourth year but as they say, time flies when you're having fun. π
This seems like a good time to say thank you so much for reading. My blog just wouldn't be what it is without all of you. Your comments and emails brighten my day, make me laugh, and make me think. Thank you for being such a lovely audience...I'm so blessed to have such a peaceful, kind slice of the world wide web. Mwah!
I'm excited for the new year because I have some fun blog plans, like a new regular feature and a project involving Lisey (not a 365 project, though!) We'll talk more about that next week, hopefully.
And if you've got a request (Something you want me to write about? More of topic x, y, or z? More of post style x, y, or z?) do let it be known in the comments. I love to get feedback from you guys so that I can make my blog as helpful to you as possible.
Have a marvy-fab holiday!

Joshua's 365 post: My new memory card

Hi Kristen,
Happy New Year to you and your family!
Patti
Glad I found your post! Happy New Year!!!
Happy new year to your family!
I actually do have a request...I purchased your e-book yesterday and I can sew with a needle, but I hope to buy a sewing machine some day soon. I used a friend's once, but otherwise, know nothing about it. Where do I begin? Which one to buy? I would love to learn!
I would suggest you check with a local sewing machine sales/ repair shop. Often they take trade-ins from people upgrading to newer machines and the older models are sold in the store. They would be a good resource for sewing classes or instructional books. I would not purchase a sewing machine from a walmart or other big box store!! The machines are not good quality and will just cause headaches in the long run. Much better to go to an actual sewing shop where you can go back if you run into problems with it. Also-- I would not be afraid to purchase an older sewing machine...my favorite machine I own is a 1950 Singer...it works wonderfully!! When you go to the sewing machine sales store, they can help you decide what features you want--a machine capable of doing zip-zag and button holes and other basic stitches would be a good start. I would think you could get a decent one for a $200 or less. Good luck!
Happy New Year! You are the best and so glad to have found you in 2011. Plan to be here to see what 2012 surprises you have for us. All the best for a joyful and prosperous New Year.
Happy New Year Kristen and Family! I'm just about to post myself... then off the PC for the evening as I'm hosting an open house (using up leftovers also, have asked friends to bring theirs along!). The disco lights are up and the Kids have Abba on repeat ('money money money' has just started!) . Waiting for friends to arrive.
Enjoy and here's to a great 2012.
ps - I too am about to invest in a sewing machine... so sewing and photography plus all the usual bits would be on my wish list.
Happy New Year to you and your family. Your blog is a great blessing to me and my family and I am very grateful for it!
I always love your homeschooling and "day in the life of" posts, and would love to see more of those. One of my New Year's goals is to bake more, so I suspect your baking posts will become a favorite as well.
Thank you for all you do!
We are kind of due for a "day in the life of" post, aren't we? It's been a while.
Yes. We've been waiting patiently for a view of your new sked, you know.
Happy New Year to you too Kristen (and family!) - I love reading your posts! As for 2012 requests - I like reading to the before and after posts (such as painting, cleaning laundry rooms, redoing furniture, sewing projects etc.). If anything, these posts give me inspiration to (finally!) do projects that need done or that I have neglected for too long. And thanks to you one of my new year's resolutions is to work on reducing my food waste - now if I could just get my family to go along with that . . . LOL!
Thanks for all you do!
A Happy & Healthy & Blessed New Year to you & your family!
Would like to know some of your favorite blogs, books, websites, etc. Recipes. Photography tips. Wait......I guess that's just more of the same, and you already do it beautifully.
Kristen- I always enjoy stopping by and reading here. As a fellow frugalista and Aldi lover- I find lots to love here!
Keep it going!
I picked you as one of the blogs I personally find versatile and interesting.

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I would love an updated daily schedule post, more about how you organize your finances and paperwork, and just coninuing to see how frugality plays out in your everyday life.
I would like to know your five most useful frugal habits (the ones that give the best return for your efforts). I watched that show Extreme Cheapskates and have to say that using cloth instead of toilet paper and taking the leftovers from the plates of unknown fellow diners was a bit over the top for me---I am wondering if I am just too prissy or what.
I read on another blog that that show portrays the worst--most extreme--most ostracizing-- ways of saving money--almost like they are trying to turn people off from trying to save money. Since I'm overseas, I never see the show, but these are kinda gross to me as well, and I'm all about saving money.
The only way I'd take the leftovers from other diners would be for my dogs.
Happy New Year! I know this is a frugal blog, but I've devoured every article you've had on homeschooling. Anything homeschooling would be greatly appreciated!
Happy New Year to you and your family. Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather π
I would also like to see more of your "transformations", like furniture painting or upcycling (mis-spelled?) of any kind. You did a post once on some of your frugal gifts for Christmas last year, I would love to see more of those (including Christmas, birthday etc.).
I never comment but read everyday. Lovely blog.
Happy New Year to you and yours!
Happy 2012!
Mwah!
Katy
From Tasmania to you, far far away- Happy New Year- may all your dreams come true x
I have to say while I know it's a ton of work for you I miss the baking Wednesday feature... I feel like I would not be the bread baker that I am without you. π Happy New Year, I think you have inspired me to start a 365 project this year! I'm having a baby in June so maybe I'm crazy but I thought it would be fun to try... We'll see how it goes.
I just found your blog a few weeks ago, but I'm slowly working through every single post. I'm pretty hooked! Just wanted to say that I LOVE your sweet cheerful attitude, it comes through in every post!
I love the posts involving the step-by-step description of projects around the home, especially the sewing posts about upcycling or repurposing old items. I have a beautiful old sewing machine that belonged to my great-grandma and I have wonderful intentions of starting to use it!! π
Happiness in 2012...
Happy New Year! I would like to see more posts that show everyday living and how you naturally incorporate frugality into your life. In general I greatly prefer those types of posts over themed posts.
I would like to know more about your homeschooling days! You have about as many children as I do and around the same ages as mine. What techniques do you use to help your children learn better? Do any of your children have learning disabilities (my 10 year old son is Dyslexic) that you have to deal with during this season of homeschooling? What types of family Bibe studies do you and your husband and children do? What types of books do your children read? What Bible study tools do you use? What are your favorite Scriptures, etc... Those are some of the things I would like to read about next year Γ’ΛΒΊ
Happy New Year! I also would like to know more about way you homeschool. I really enjoyed the states lessons post. I think that having been a homeschooler and being frugal puts you in a great position to help us simplify our homeschooling and pick best bets to invest in curriculum, etc. wise.
Happy New Year back atchya!
In the company of friends I got to tramp over snowy ground; watch a very small, half-frozen waterfall; and make a snowman.
I'd love more day in the life stuff! Also - where to put all the homeschool stuff - along with all the OTHER stuff a family of 6 accumulates π Happy New Year!!!

I love seeing the photos and reading about your finds from goodwill and places like that! I think it's wonderful that you and your family repurpose/reuse things by sometimes shopping secondhand stores! Love it!!
Happy new year and thanks for all the work you do on this blog. If I could make a request it would be for a post or guest post or just a day for commenters to leave some frugal suggestions for us working 60+ hr a week office jobs. Don't get me wrong I try to read and adapt your ideas the best I can and I know you write about your experience as a SAHM. I love your blog and am not judging anything about you or any other SAHM! Sometimes different circumstances just need different tactics and I thought maybe this community might have some good suggestions for us corporate drones too.
Happy New Years Kristen!! π
Happy new year kristen and family!i do have a question, what happened to the link for your recipes? I love trying your baking ideas,as i need all the help i can get:)
You can still find that in the sidebar. Look in the Categories menu...it'll drop down, and if you scroll down, you can find the recipes category.
