In two weeks...
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I post a picture and just a few words.

Bummer.
But hey, at least there are still some leaves hanging around, and the dreary brown/gray scenery of January is a ways off.

Several states north we are in the brown/gray season now, though thankfully not in the white. Not quite ready for all that yet. I'm already longing for green, growing things--afraid it's going to be a long winter...
Except for having to drive in it, I actually prefer the white to the brown/gray. At least the white looks sort of magical.
There's just nothing magical about brown and gray!
I must prefer a nice white coating to when it's gray salty slushy out.
I have a love/hate relationship with the white stuff. It is SO pretty, but it adds SO much difficulty to life when you have to deal with it for months on end. For us it means getting up before 5 to make it to work on time, and plowing late into the night. It means studded tires and worrying about making it up the big hill on our road. It means roads so icy that you cannot even go for a walk without grippers on your boots. I still think it's beautiful, but the burden of it makes it a lot harder to enjoy it unequivocally like I did years ago. But I do agree, a fresh coat of snow does wonders for that slushy, brown look.
I keep finding myself inspecting the just-dropped-their-leaves trees for signs of new green. Obviously I forgot that we just had summer. And yeah, although we got an inch or so of snow last night, I would be OK with spring recommencing without the benefit of winter.
