A whole bunch of miscellaneous bloggy business stuff
That kind of title just sucks you in, doesn't it?
(Well, in opposite world, it would.)
Ok. I have a bunch of short things to say, so let's get started.
1. I reorganized my header links.

They're a bit less crowded, and I made room for a link to Lisey's baking blog. Yay!
Some of you have been wondering where the Wednesday Baking tab or the Recipes tab went. I took them down to make room for other stuff, but you'll be pleased to know that you can find those categories on the right side of my blog in the drop-down categories menu.
And of course, you can always utilize the search feature to find something you're looking for.
2. If you're an email subscriber, hitting "Reply" will not post your comment to the blog.
Hitting "Reply" will send your comment just to me. And of course, I don't mind that. But if you want other people to see your comment too, you'll need to visit the actual blog.
To do that, just click on the blue post title at the top of the daily email from me, and that'll take you to my blog, where you can click on the comments link and leave an honest-to-goodness comment.
3. I exist on Twitter and Facebook.
If you happen to want more Kristen than you get here, feel free to follow me on Twitter or like me on Facebook. I don't promise life-changing content, but I do post more casual, sometimes off-topic thoughts there, and if you want to hear things like that I'm having a bad day, well, those are the places to go.
4. I exist on Pinterest too. (sort of)
I signed up for a Pinterest account (I'm The Frugal Girl there, of course), but I haven't quite got the hang of it. So, you can follow me, but I'm pretty boring right now.

Mostly because I keep forgetting that I even have Pinterest.
5. You can pin Frugal Girl content.
I added a "Pin It!" button up there at the top of the page to make this easy for you.
6. If you blog on Blogger, you should turn off the Captcha option on your comments.
That's very bossy of me to say, isn't it?
Here's the thing. When I have time, I like to visit the blogs that participate in Food Waste Friday and leave comments, but I gotta tell you, when I have to deal with entering those wonky letters over and over again, it kinda lets the steam out of my sails.
And I am definitely not the only person who feels that way. So, if you want some comment love, make it easy for us to leave comments, pretty please! (Here's how.)
At least give it a try. If your spam comment count goes through the roof, you can always turn Captcha back on again or find some other method of controlling it.
7. You can subscribe via email to any of the Frugal Girl family blogs.
It's free, and you'll get the entirety of the blog post in your inbox every day, not just a teaser (I hate it when I subscribe to a blog and find out that the feed is just a teaser).
You can:
Subscribe to The Frugal Girl 365, my for-fun project where I post a picture each day (the subscribe box is on the right)
Subscribe to Joshua's 365 (the subscribe box is on the right)
Subscribe to Baking With Lisey (the box is on the right side)
And you can always unsubscribe whenever you want.
8. If you have a question, check out the FAQ page.
It's just text, so I think I need to pretty it up with some pictures (Kristen adds this to her to-do list), but it does have answers to a lot of the most common questions that I receive.
Also, a lot of you have emailed me with questions about camera equipment.
I have mine listed on my 365 blog, and I also wrote a post about my SLR equipment right here.
Ok! I think that takes care of all the bits and pieces. Back to your regularly scheduled programming tomorrow.

Today's 365 post: Any day that includes fresh guacamole and salsa...

Thanks...I'll check you out on Pinterest. I love that site! I've transferred all my bookmarks to boards and it is so much easier to "see" everything with the photos. I pin only projects I want to accomplish, crafts and gifts to make, recipes, and my 3 favorite places. So much inspiration on Pinterest.
I am in total agreement with the blogger comment thing! I commented on someones blog this morning that uses blogger and I felt like I was having a full fledged interview of comment worthiness just to put up a short comment. I love seeing that even established bloggers spend time tweaking and updating, I just spent over 30 minutes this morning choosing a font for my disclosure speech at the ends of posts with affiliate links.
# 6!! Seriously. Most of the time I can't even read those letters, and I end up just leaving.
One site I visit has a simple arithmetic problem to solve that even I can do, when I remember to do it. It's after the submit button, which makes it easy to miss.
Think of your readers! Please!
I hate captcha codes. Unless I love the blog, I won't comment with them.
I like Pinterest too and am slowly using it more. How do you add the little Pin to your blog?
On another note - Aldi goodness! I was recently in Aldi and see that they are now carrying poblanos, jalapenos, tomatillos, serrano chili peppers, etc. Very exciting. I asked about it and was told that they're test marketing this. I hope it stays! Maybe you could get the word out? 🙂
I did it by adding a hook to my Thesis theme...a bit of code that I copied and pasted. I bet there's a typepad friendly way of adding it too. Google it and see!
I have pinterest also, and I am not getting the hang of it either! Need lesson in pin it!
It might be that I don't really have alot of time to sit and mess around with it...
Love your blog! I never miss a post! Thank you for the inspiration.
I'm trying to spread the word about Pinterest's terms of service - this blog post (not mine, but someone I've followed for a long time, and whew! does she know her stuff) points out a serious issue with Pinterest's terms of service. It is especially important for people who pin their own stuff: http://www.virtualmoxie.com/2012/02/why-pinterest-is-no-longer-of-great-interest.html
Thanks for all the info 🙂 🙂 I"m going to check out your site on Pinterest. I love Pinterest 😉 🙂 I turned off word verification on my blog, too...It's too hard to read the letters and it's frustrating my readers...so it went away. Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 🙂
Love Pinterest, hate captcha :).
I use WordPress for my blog, so of course when I comment on a Blogger blog I like to log in to OpenID through WordPress so it's all linked. But I have found that a lot of the time, when a Blogger blog requires a Captcha I can't even comment! It tells me over and over again that my entered characters don't match. I mean, sure, once or twice but EVERY time? Gimme a break, I'm pretty sure I'm not dyslexic. 😉
Totally agree about Captcha! So often, it's so twisted that it's illegible, so I just delete my comment! It's not worth the aggravation!
I totally thought I'd disabled the captcha on my blog, but I hadn't.
Thanks for posting the "how to" link- I hate filling those out on other people's blogs, and had no idea it was still on mine! (oops!)
Half the time I can't even read the letters and just give up leaving a comment on other's blogs, I'm sure the same thing has happened on mine.
No more!
🙂
It's easy to do that! I depend on readers to alert me to stuff like that...as the blogger, sometimes you don't notice the aspects of your site that aren't user-friendly.
I didn't even know I can turn it off the captcha. Thanks for the info!
I started reading your blog mainly for the Wednesday baking. We are on dial up and it takes awhile for most sites to upload for me. I am very disappointed that you haven't had your Wednesday baking and instead have made a new blog for baking. My family has enjoyed many of the recipes I have gotten here (cinnamon rolls and Aussie chicken are 2 of them) but I don't have the time to look at both blogs. I like you have 4 kids and a home that need my attention. Anyway, I have loved your blog but will be cutting back my viewing.
Thanks for the information on how to remove the word verification - hopefully I have done this now and given a link to your blog so that others can do the same xx
I nearly commented the other day about the tabs at the top and decided not to. Moving your e-book tab to the end and putting the Kid's first - it's what we Mom's do isn't it? Made me smile.
Still plodding on with the photography, and I'm improving (well a little). Really tempted to go for a better lens, but am holding out. A bad workman blames his tools, I need to work on my skills before flashing the cash!
Just posted my FWF, and I'm not on blogger so no issues with captiva's (are they called?). They drive me potty!
Just had a brainwave and had to come back to comment. Really embarrassing. Captiva is an island... oh dear!
Kristen-
I tried to pin your whole wheat bread recipe and it didn't work. :/ The pinterest popup comes up but it doesn't 'find' any pictures to pin and then when I clicked 'pin it' it never came over to my board.
