Not a grocery shopping post

It's an off-week for grocery shopping, so I thought that I'd just do a quick picture post.

Especially since I'm supposed to be kinda taking it easy/off here (although somehow I still have not managed to miss a day of blogging since I announced that. Hmm.).

Usually once a week, we go over to my parents' house to go swimming, and this summer, Mr. FG has been joining us after work.

The kids have all really enjoyed this because usually the only time we get to swim with Mr. FG is when we're on vacation.

So, when I am tempted to feel discouraged and depressed about this early schedule of Mr. FG's....

...and I'm tempted to feel sorry for myself...

...I will remind myself of our swimming afternoons. And monkey in the middle games. Because those couldn't happen if his schedule was more normal.

On an unrelated note, did you know that it's easier to adjust your goggles properly if you stick your tongue out?

See? They're working just great now.

I have occasionally been remembering to us the video feature on my camera, so here's a short one of Zoe, who is jumping off the board with much more pizazz than she was at the beginning of the summer.

I'm doing pretty well on the to-do list I made for myself earlier this week, and I'll be back on Monday to give you an update on how all of that is going.

Have a lovely weekend!

  1. Great pics and video. It's so strange hearing your voices! You always sound nothing like I expect (although I'm not sure what I'm expecting to hear - it just seems weird to actually hear you instead of the voice in my head LOL)

    Enjoy your swim afternoons 🙂

    1. A number of people said that to me after they saw my CBN piece...my audible voice must be very different than my online voice.

  2. Loving the discussion on 'voice' - there's always talk about finding your online voice. I've been told by someone I have never met that I must speak with my hands as when I write I use an awful lot (way too much!!!) punctuation! they were right. I also think of the online (virtual) world in my head like a neighbourhood, I won't even go there as I visualise people out and about, then other days are quiet etc... don't ask!
Great video - what a way to spend what would have been a grocery shop... much more enjoyable 🙂

  3. Just coming out from hiding in the shadows for a while to say this is a great post. 🙂 It's great Mr. FG is able to spend this time with the kids when they're young.... They'll remember this!

  4. I love the jumping video and the fact that you guys get family time to swim together.

PS: My husband and I have a long standing argument. I say it's "pig in the middle". He says "monkey in the middle". It's clear which side of our argument you're on...

    1. It is sort of a mystery! Mr. FG was a little bit blonde when he was a kid, and I had some blonde highlights as a kid, but neither of us were as blonde as Sonia is.

      1. As the only redhead in a family of brunettes, I REALLY paid attention during biology when they talked about genetics! I love that the brunettes hide all their recessive genes behind their dominant brown genes... And the POOF! out they come with the right combination!!
