I'm all discombobulated.
I somehow completely forgot to host Food Waste Friday last week. But Jo from Simply Being Mum is on top of it, so she's hosting this Friday.
Since next Friday is the day after Christmas, I probably won't be blogging at all, so I'll host it the next week, right after New Years Day.
However, I'm pleased to tell you that I am currently doing pretty awesome at using up random odds and ends of produce from my fridge because I've been drinking green smoothies multiple times a day in an effort to avoid the plague that has hit most of my household.
(Coughs, aches, and high fevers of 102-104 have hit everyone so far except Sonia and me.)

I'm all, "Ok, immune system, don't fail me now. Here, have some more kale. I basically can't get sick if I ingest prodigious amounts of kale, right?????"
(A girl can hope.)
The good news is that if I do catch it, everyone else should be on the mend by the time I'm down for the count. So, they can all take care of me. 😉
I'm almost through the huge kale bunch that came in my produce delivery box (my Vitamix is great at blending it up thoroughly), I've used up all sorts of frozen fruit odds and ends from the freezer and fridge, and I'm doing great at getting through my bananas too.
And I made a big batch of (actually tasty) chicken broth from some bones in my freezer too.

In other discombobulation news, I usually post a photo on Thursdays and then write a post on Fridays. But I wrote a post yesterday (I was excited to tell you that my dishwasher is fixed!), so to keep the backwards theme going, here's just a photo for today.
I don't generally think winter is a super beautiful time of year unless there's snow on the ground.
But the other morning, the air was thick with fog and combined with a barely rising sun, things did look kind of magical outside.

Have a lovely weekend! I'll be busy trying to help my sickies get back to health (and also hope-hope-hoping not to catch it myself.)
And if all goes well I'll see you on Monday, in good health.

P.S. I just now remembered that I have a 5000-Swagbuck giveaway to do! I'll be back a little later today to put that up, so check back in in a bit!

Hope you stay well, that stomach bug that is going around (I'm in FL) is nasty. My daughter works at a daycare and I'm praying daily she doesn't bring it home!
Wasn't it you that mentioned you weren't a fan of Kale? I'm not either but it's good to know you can disguise it in a smoothie. I was so excited to make Kale Chips and just couldn't handle that strong taste. I think I ended up crumbling them up into something a few days later but man, that is some strong stuff. Give me back my spinach! (especially if it's baby, lol)
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Yeah, that was me. Kale chips were totally disappointing. Everyone was all, "Ohh, these are even better than potato chips!" so my expectations were perhaps a bit high.
In a smoothie with kale, frozen pineapple and then a tablespoon or two of OJ concentrate REALLY helps.
Amazing how widespread this sickness is! We are in Wisconsin and had the freaky high fevers, too! A good 4 to 6 days for us all! Get better soon! My midwife suggested oscillococcinum which is available at most drug stores! Didn't end up trying it but thought I'd pass it on in case you were looking for something!
I got everyone else well, and now it's my turn. Feeling pretty punky! Housework can wait.
Just my opinion - kale is EVIL.
I will be praying you stay well and all the others heal quickly! My 14mo. old has it and it is no fun, especially since he can't tell me anything! 😉 Blessings to you!
Oh, that is SUCH a hard age for sickness. They just cry and cry (at least mine did anyway!)
I hope you start feeling better soon! I love using smoothies as a way to use up all my leftovers. At least you are craving healthy stuff while sick. Somehow I always want the things that will make me feel worse. Happy holidays!
Kale tastes like broccoli, right? I think I like kale.
That photo is pretty neat. We usually don't get fog this time of year.
Hope your family are soon better, and that you can fend off the sickness.
We just had 'flu, there's an epidemic here, and it's the lingering cough driving us crazy now, horrible.
I invested in a humidifier yesterday so my son got some sleep. I haven't slept in days and very cranky!
Merry Christmas- and healthy New Year ( I just bought healthcare for the first time in 3 years so that's good, even if it's a little pricey- lots of leftover meals around here too in 2015 )
Yeah, the flu is really going around here too, but oddly enough, this is not the flu (the girls and Mr. FG both got tested and it's not strep or the flu.) But this virus seems just as bad as the flu!
