Happy Birthday to my blog, Happy Birthday to my blog...

A little girl sliding into a pool from a waterslide.

(and also Happy Birthday to my country.)

(that birthday is probably slightly more noteworthy than my blog's. Slightly.)

My blog turns four years old today, which means that next year, it'll be old enough to start kindergarten.

These things just grow up in a blink, don't they? 😉

I realized the other day that I've been blogging for ⅔ of Zoe's life, since she was just two years old when I started. Isn't that crazy??

Back in July of 2008 when I wrote my first entry here, I had no idea my blog would grow the way it has, and no idea that I'd still be here four years later, typing away about frugality.

Thank you so much for reading, for offering helpful comments, for encouraging me, and for being a part of what is one of the most polite and respectful blog communities out there.

(seriously, just check out the discussion from yesterday for an example. It could have been a total disaster and it wasn't because you guys are fabulous. 😉 )

I'm so thankful for you, my readers, and for the way that this blog allows me to help inspire people to live content, cheerful lives even when money isn't abundant. I've received emails from many of you telling how my blog has changed your life, and I'm so honored and delighted that the little missives I type up here every day have affected you in a positive way.

So, mwah! to the best readers in the blogosphere.

And here's to many more years of frugal, cheerful living.

  1. Congratutations! Blogging four four years is a huge accomplishment, and keeping quality content over those four years is often rare. When time is tight, the only two blogs I check in with daily are yours and soulemama. Thank you so much for the great content! You've been a huge inspiration to me as my family has more consciously downsized to up our quality time together.

  2. Congratulations! It is at least as much our pleasure to read it as it is yours to offer it. IIRC your blog was first at another site, making your first post hard to find. Care to supply a link?

  3. happy 4th anniversary!!! I enjoy coming here every day to read your posts. Yours is the first blogg I read in the morning!

  11. Dear Kristen,

Happy Birthday to your blog and THANK YOU for your blog. I love it here and have been reading almost from the beginning. I love you and your family as if I know you in real life (please read this in a nice way and not in a creepy one - english is not my first language and sometimes things do not sound as they should). It is so great to read about the life of someone who could not live different than I do and still I really enjoy it and get so many tips from you. Please keep up the blog forever ;-))
    Many greetings from Germany
