A giveaway from Little Bird Designs

I'm so excited about today's giveaway. It's from Little Bird Vintage Designs, and I think you'll love it.

Little Bird Vintage Designs bags

Little Bird Vintage Designs is owned by Grace, a mom of four, and in her shop she sells blankets, tote bags, and clothes with cute animal designs on them.

One really nice thing about LBVD is that they have a program called, "Buy Love, Give Love". When you buy a Lovie Blanket from their store, you also get one to donate (you can designate a recipient, or give it to the charity that Little Bird is sponsoring.)

Little Bird Vintage Designs blankets

I think that's a lovely idea.

Of course, my kids are pretty much past the blanket stage, so Little Bird sent me four of their organic canvas tote bags, one for each of my kids. Aren't they great?

Of course, we were especially delighted with the gecko bag, which my reptile-nut promptly claimed.

The gecko is named Kalliope, and he was designed by my friend Erin, who you know best as the creator of the VW bus shirts that my girls are always sporting.

You may remember that Erin and her husband are adopting, and Little Bird is donating ALL the profits from any Kalliope the gecko purchases to Erin's adoption fund.

The tote bags are high-quality canvas, which means they'll last much longer than the typical reusable bags you can buy at the grocery store. I don't think my kids are going to let me use these bags for groceries, though. 😉

Also, Little Bird uses eco-friendly printing methods...their ink is a water-based stain, not a petroleum-based paint. And the bags are made in the U.S.A., a definite selling point for me. They cost $14, which is, I think, a very fair price for an organic, U.S. made bag with a cute, eco-friendly design on it.

Sonia and Zoe have been quite enamored with the art on their bags, so they've been busy tracing and making reproductions of the bird and lion.

Zoe's got two on her bulletin board right now, actually.

Thanks for all your frugal ideas and your sweet and honest spirit. I'm a frugal homeschool mom too, so your blog has been a blessing. BTW - the artwork on the bags is precious! 21. What a great idea! The bags are super cute and I remember my mom always using cloth totes for library book days. 🙂

  22. What a wonderful collection! I especially like the Buy Love, Give Love idea with their Lovie Blankets. That's a very lovely idea. I'm pleased to see something like that going on, that isn't a part of some major corporation's publicity campaign. Just lovely and sweet.
And the bags are nice, too.

  23. These bags are so absolutely sweet! So cute. Since the birth of my baby, I've been carrying reusable bags so much more to tote around all that baby stuff as well as at the market and other shopping. I would love to add one of these totes to my collection - durable bags are replacing the cheaper, grocery store versions as they wear out. Thanks! Ellen

  24. I would love to have some of these bags! They are quite cute and sound very sturdy, compared to what I have now.

  25. Not only are the bags way cute but my car was recently vandolized. They didn't get away with much. All that was missing is an empty camera bag, I did loose my extra memory card and battery. The other thing they took was my grocery bags, go figure. I'd love to replace them with a bag from LBVD.

  26. These would make great library bags for my two kids! We love to check out lots of books and they always want mom to carry them but I think they could handle putting their Garfield books in these bags and carrying them to the car.

  27. Ph my gosh they are CUTE! I love the little birdie! It's so nice to hear about these little shops- love the name, too!

  28. They are pretty awesome. So are the copied designate by your children. Would love to have one. Might just buy one if I don't wit.

  29. Love, love, love this designer. I especially appreciate their donation practice and eco-friendly products. Would love to to have a tote bag!!

  32. I love these bags - my girls each have something very similar for the library, but of course, my youngest boy is now wanting something. This would be a great option.

btw- I am dieing of curiosity about Zoe's bed! Post please! 🙂 I can't believe you got that bed painted so fast! I need to know your trick with managing the kids while you do those kinds of projects!!

  33. Oh, how cute! My twin girls would love to have these. They still won't leave my bags alone, but they would still love these. 🙂

  34. These totes are very very nice. I love that profits from the gecko bag are helping someone fund an adoption.

  35. Everything about these bags is spectacular! I especially love the donation part of it!

  36. These are such cute bags and they look like great quality. Our city is finally getting rid of bags in a few weeks. I am so excited for the shift and know I will be buying/sharing more reusables soon!

  37. Very cute! The designs are lovely. My toddler would love to sport one of these - she needs a "purse" wherever she goes these days.

  38. Adorable. I've sewn a couple bags for shopping but I don't shop often so I need a Lot of bags for one trip. Every time I try to collect the plastics to take back and recycle them something comes up and they never seem to make it. I hate how many bags get thrown away.

  39. Oh, these are really cute. I would use these at the grocery store or the library...seriously. There was a bill passed in our city recently and it will soon cost money to get paper bags or plastic at the store, In any case, I do a lot of walking, too...so cloth bags are definitely the BEST 🙂 🙂 Thanks for hosting such a cute giveaway. Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 🙂

  40. These are so great! I use totes for so many things and now I would be able to share with my daughters! 🙂

  53. I teach third grade, and during a mini lesson on soybean production I told my students about the importance of buying goods made in the USA. I was pleasantly surprised that they had their own opinions on the subject and even knew some facts that I didn't know. I hope this means our national outlook on buying quality is slowing changing for the better!
