The 2021 Cookie Guessing Contest

Normally, we do try to get this done a little earlier in December.

Frosted Christmas cookies.

But since Lisey has moved out now, we had to wait until she came back for a visit. If we did only four cookies, this would be way too easy for you guys and where’s the fun in that?

(4 x 3 x 2 x 1= only 24 possibilities!)

Lisey, wearing a Christmas sweatshirt.

Anyway! If you’re new here, you should know that we have a tradition of decorating Christmas cookies in rather non-traditional ways.

Three frosted Christmas cookies.

Someone even made a Grover cookie this year!

And we also have a tradition of holding a cookie-guessing contest here on the blog each year. The winner gets a $100 Amazon gift card, emailed from me!

Four small Christmas tree cookies.

Here’s the way this works. I’ll give you a photo of numbered cookies, plus a list of the five cookie artists, and you can leave your guess in a comment.

Six cookies on a cookie sheet.

First, we have a ninja:

Then Beaker, from the Muppets:

a cookie decorated like a muppet.

Then a pink Christmas tree, which got a little broken before I took a photo:

Next up, Wario, from Mario Kart: (made from a gingerbread cookie cutter shape)

A sad little Christmas tree:

And lastly, a penguin:

A penguin cookie.

A twist to make this tougher!

Someone got the answer shockingly early last year, so to make it slightly harder this year, we have a twist.

We have five cookie artists, listed here in age order:

  • Mr. FG
  • Kristen
  • Lisey
  • Sonia
  • Zoe

But one of us has entered two cookies into this year’s photo. If I’m doing my probability math right, that means the odds are 5 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1= 600 possibilities.

(I could be wrong on this, though, so if you are better at probability math than me, pipe up and tell me where I’ve gotten off-track.)

If this turns out to be impossibly hard and no one figures it out, then I will give the gift card to whoever got the closest first. 😉

So, leave your comment guesses like so, using one person’s name twice:

1-Kristen
2-Mr. FG
3-Zoe
4-Sonia
5-Lisey
6-Sonia

Without further ado, here are the numbered cookies, arranged in no particular order, except how I thought they looked nice:

And now it’s time to get guessing.

Alrighty! Off you go!

1. Kristen 2. Lisey 3. Sonya 4. Zoe 5. Mr FG 6. Sonya

I'm probably way off, but my guess would be that the sisters have had great fun sitting together and decorating the cookies, so they would have the most elaborately decorated ones. Now going to read what everyone else thinks!
