Sandy wrote me and said that she hated her dirty grout so much, she was thisclose to tearing it out and getting new flooring.
But she decided to give Grout Renew a shot after reading about my experience with it. She sent photos and I got her permission to share them with you.
Here's her floor before:
And here it is after:
Check out the top left corner where you can see the contrast between the painted and unpainted grout!
Sandy used the linen shade and I think the lighter grout brightens her whole floor up so much. I just heard from her the other day, and she says that three months down the road, the grout is still lookin' fabulous.
In case you missed it the first time around, you can read about my experience with this product and also see before and after pictures of my bathroom tile grout right here.

I'm so glad this exists. I have some grout in need of refreshing. Is it expensive?
The linked post said the bottle was $10, and she only used about 1/4 of it. It sounds VERY economical!
going back to your original post--how is the paint holding up in the girls bathroom?
Wow!!
Wow, that's amazing. I want to do it in my bathroom, as the grout is really gross. However, when I have tried cleaning it in the past, it chips out. There are areas that don't have much grout. So I think I would have to add more grout before using this paint. And that just seems like a lot of work! I don't know if I can buy a small container of grout? I guess I should look into this!
WOW! I am going to have to try this I got some of my hair dye in the grout of our tiled bathroom floor and it dried and won't come out.
Love it! This has just inspired me to do it in our rental home we'll be putting on the market this spring. Our tile looks eerily similar to that in the photo, so now I know how it will look with lighter grout. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thanks for posting the picture, Kristen! It was really easy. The bottle costs about $11 at Home Depot, and I used less than one bottle on my kitchen floor. I've since done my living room and hallway as well. I used a small toothbrush at first, but switched to a hair dye brush ( flat, single row of bristles)and it worked great. The only tedious part was wiping the excess paint off the tile as I painted, but even that got easier as I went along, partly because the more I painted, the better I got at keeping it only on the grout lines.
As far as replacing grout itself, I have one area that needs that too. I bought a small container of grout to mix, but haven't gotten around to that yet! It's located on the same aisle as the grout paint at Home Depot.
Hi Kristen!
I have been following you for years but I rarely comment....but today i thought it was worthy!
I also tried and LOVED the tile grout. I used it on my shower tile in the bathroom and blogged about it on my page (and linked to your post about it too).
Here is the link if you want to check it out. http://zteamlife.blogspot.com/2013/07/tile-revival.html

Woolite heavy traffic large area carpet foam did an amazing job getting my grout clean. I highly recommend it!
Krystin,
I just used the Woolite heavy traffic carpet foam on my unsealed grout on my kitchen floor and it really worked well! It applies nicely in a stream so you can target the grout and not the tile. After leaving it on for 5-10 minutes I scrubbed it with a stiff brush and could see the foam turning dirty as the gunk was being lifted from the grout! Thanks for sharing your experience here. I will definitely be passing this tip along!

We need this badly in our kitchen. Does it smell strongly? If so, for about how long?
It really doesn't...it has almost no odor at all.
How has the product held up over time? See this post is from 2013, can you give us an update?
It's holding up well. It does get dirty, but a big difference is that you can actually clean the painted grout, whereas the unpainted grout just held on stubbornly to the dirt.
I, of course, am doing this totally backwards. White tile white grout, when I finally gave up scrubbing with everything recommended (not on this web site), I was told it was because it was sand grout and the installers should have used polymer grout. I hired a tile guy who removed the top 3rd of the grout and replaced with polymer. For a very short period of time it was great! Of course, it cost over $1,000 and because he didn't tell me how much dust it created and he never covered anything, we had to replace a $400 Toto Washlet that was destroyed by the dust getting sucked into its venting system. Recently I read about using Clorox bleach gel pens, 4 for $10.32 from Amazon. The first applications were successful enough however I calculated that it would take at least 8 pens to do the entire floor, I was willing. But the grout disaster around the toilet, where the grout is very yellow, bleach didn't change it at all. So here I am, I just ordered 2 containers of the grout paint you recommended from Home Depot. I have loads of actually new toothbrushes, rejects from a manufacturing company where my husband used to work. I mean a shoebox full! I will report back, the grout paint is being shipped and due to arrive in a couple of weeks. Phew!
@Linda Robinson,
How is the grout paint holding up?I am thinking of using for my kitchen grout.

Which white grout color did you use? I have white tiles with black grout and I’m going to paint the grout!!!! Thanks for the advice.
I wish I could tell you but I no longer live at that house and I do not have access to the tile paint color anymore!
