I do like some coupons.

in Couponing,Coupons

After my small tirade on extreme couponing, I thought it might be good to show you the front of my fridge.

I’m not entirely anti-coupon. :)

I have a coupon for free Tropicana OJ from the Juicy Rewards program, a $10 off a $10 purchase at Kohls from Discover card (this will be used to buy Lisey a swimsuit), a Lowe’s coupon, and a series of Weis coupons (like $5 off a $40 purchase, $3 off a fresh meat purchase, and there are even some free product coupons in there too.)

See you tomorrow for some Q&A.

For some of us who don’t have an Aldi type store nearby–couponing does make sense. It saves me $10-$15 a week on my grocery bill.

I got those oj coupons too! Love fresh-squeezed orange juice.

I’m starting to use coupons again for a few things. I can afford to be a little choosy about some products (instead of just buying the cheapest on the shelf) like my dishwashing detergent. Even then, I found a brand I like that’s environmentally friendly and usually has coupons on their Website. I’m also using my Bed, Bath, & Beyond coupons to buy my cleaners and laundry stuff there. My dog has allergies, and his food is spendy but worth it. I buy his food at a pet store that has a punch card loyalty card which gives me one free bag of dog food a year.

I only started using coupons last week. My husband and I recently had to reduce our budget, and by using coupons for things we actually buy, coupled with sales I was able to save about 55% of our grocery bill, and if you shop around some times, as you’ve said, you can get the name brand cheaper than the generic. As for healthiness, my husband and I have been living off junk and fast food for the past several years, so that had to stop (not just because of the budget situation obviously) and so even though some of the food we’re buying isn’t that great for you its still much better than fast food :)
