Oh, Christmas tree, oh, Christmas tree...

I realized I hadn't shared a picture of our tree this year (except on Instagram, where I was freaking out over the fabulous way that the lights reflect on the floor. It's my first Christmas with wood floors, so...)

FG Christmas tree

Anyway, there you have it.

I did pretty well on my to-do list from yesterday...thanks for humoring me and providing motivation!

Today I just have to bake the pfeffernusse (I made the dough yesterday), make some goodies for the neighbors, and make a pan of caramel monkey bread to put in the fridge for tomorrow's breakfast.

And of course, I'm gonna make a pot of clam chowder for dinner.

It should be a pretty easy day.   And I don't have to run any errands, which automatically makes this a more fabulous day.

Have a lovely Christmas Eve!

  1. I completely understand your loving the reflected lights on the new floor. It is part of what makes you enjoy home and feel good about being able to stay in instead of doing errands. It is the same for me: not having to go anywhere is a treat. I am going to clean a bit to make it even more enjoyable tonight and tomorrow.
Happy Holidays and home-loving! Thank you for the best blog.

  2. It is almost Christmas in Australia and I have much to do. I planned to be home and other things happened. The main things are done but there are a few noisy jobs ahead.

Have an excellent day and Merry Christmas.

  3. Merry, Merry Christmas to the FG family! Thank you for your lovely blog, which has significantly altered how I cook, clean, mend and buy. 🙂

  4. My daughter and her fiancé are home for two weeks and my son and his wife and family are coming for a few days.....Christmas can't get any better than that for my husband and I. Have a wonderful holiday with your family as well. Thank you for all the time you put into your blog. It is lovely to "catch up": with you each day. Merry Christmas from Canada!

  5. Merry Christmas!

I made my peppernut dough yesterday and baked some of them so we'd have them to enjoy. I'll bake the rest today sometime. My grandma always baked her peppernuts after Thanksgiving and they were around all December long. I wonder how many batches she made? Because they were so abundant. She never ran out of peppernuts!!!

  6. Ahhhh! Today is my crazy last minute day. I need to:
    Grocery shop
    Pick up two more gifts
    Make cinnamon buns
    Wrap all the presents
Make dinner (fried oysters, collared greens, Mac and cheese)

    Here we go!

  7. Aww, just lovely, especially the reflections on the hard wood. Wishing you and familya very very Merry Christmas and New Year!

  8. What a beautiful tree! We have only enough room for a small ceramic tree that belonged to my grandmother, which I dearly love, but I sometimes wish we could have a real one like yours. So I will enjoy the photo and live vicariously through it for a few moments. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  9. Love your family photo each year!!! Yesterday, I did not run any errands either. Instead enjoyed time with hubby & went to a beautiful candlelight service at church. Afterwards a fab pasta dinner prepared by hubby with daughter (expecting 1st child in Feb.) & son-in-law.

I only read 2 blogs regularly.....yours is one of them. You are inspirational!

    Merry Christmas!
