We've been swimming a lot (four out of the last five days, actually!), but much reading has been done as well.

Yup! The hot weather is good for swimming and for sitting in the air conditioning, reading a book. 😉
I remember being a kid and being so excited summer was here because that meant I could read so much more. I love reading. I still love reading. I just finished "The Princess Bride" and can't wait to see the movie again. And now I'm reading a book about decoding your dog's behavior because we adopted a dog about a month ago, and he's awesome. 🙂
Oh yes. I used to read so much in the summer when I was a kid. Now I have a few more things on my plate during the summer!

This is totally off topic, but I'm in need of a new couch and am interested in giving leather a go around. Can you tell me some details on your leather furniture - brand, cost, where purchased?

Sadly, Ikea no longer makes the Ektorp line in leather, but they do have some very similar leather sofas now. We bought one of their newer designs for our office, and we're very pleased with it so far.
A few follow up questions...Do you still like your leather furniture, would you do leather again, and how have you found the quality of Ikea's furniture? We do have Ikea where I live and I love it but I've never bought any of their furniture.
We've been very happy with our leather furniture thus far! We bought it back in 2009 and it's still looking great. In fact, it's wearing a HECK of a lot better than the La-Z-Boy stuff we bought before this set.
Ikea does sell a fair amount of crappy furniture (particle board bed frames, for example), but our experience with their sofas has been great.
I would so do leather again in a heartbeat. It wears so much better than fabric, it's easy to clean up spills, the dark color doesn't show dirt, and it looks so neat and clean and minimalist.
We went to the library every week in the summer when I was a kid. I used to just love curling up in the cool house to read. Your pic brings back very fond memories.
I vividly remember curling up at the end of the couch and reading the Nancy Drew series. I couldn't wait to go to the library to get the next book in the series!

We had national school sports week over in the UK last week, so had a really physical week! But we are also participating into a reading challenge - linked to the World Cup. So lot's of reading going on here also. Ready for our school hols to kick in. Just 2 weeks to go! Now we just need some sun 😉
