I'm sick again.
Ugh.
I got the flu (or at least something like that) a month ago, was under the weather for over a week, and then got better in time for my Florida trip.
(yay for that!)
I got back from Florida, and was just getting back into the swing of things, and then Saturday night, I came down with a new flu-ish thing.

I'm a little annoyed with my body. Like, come on! I fed you yogurt and protein and endless fruits and veggies and I exercised you and I ate a WHOLE POUND of Brussels sprouts by myself last week, and this is the thanks I get?? You couldn't, maybe, kick some germs for me?
(I kid, I kid. Kind of.)
Anyway.
I am feeling significantly better today than I was yesterday, so perhaps this is a shorter bug than the last one.
Hopefully I'll be back at my keyboard soon, but I just wanted to let you know where I am in the mean time.
(specifically: in the living room, on the couch, binge watching Gilmore Girls on my laptop. Because if you can't make yourself feel better, you can at least distract yourself.)

Oh boy. I hope you feel better soon. My house has been something of an infirmary as well. It's been a rough winter for a lot of reasons.
Oh no I'm so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. It's that time of the year. Some of my colleagues also came down with a flue.
I hope you'll feel better soon. Don't worry about posting too much. Your health comes first!
I hope this one goes faster. A friend of mine told me he and his wife both had some kind of flu (it was doctor diagnosed) that knocked them down hard, they were good for another week or so, then it came right back. Maybe that's what you have? Good luck, and feel better!
Same thing happened to us and so many I know.
Take a deep breath and feel better!
How frustrating! I hope you are able to get enough rest and feel better soon.
I sometimes feel that my body betrays me. You must feel that way, too. I have learned the hard way not to ignore sickness, but give in as you are doing, and things get better much faster.
I'm sorry you're sick again. I think it is just a really bad year in our area. I've just recovered from either the flu or a bad respiratory virus. I'm usually healthy and think it's because I take good care of myself. My husband had it first and missed work (almost unheard of for him). He suffered a lot more so maybe that is the consolation (for being more vigilant about self-care).
I hope you feel better soon (why do there have to be so many viruses?).
I never had the "privilege" of back to back flu thank goodness. I hope you feel better! What if it was more like the germs left to give you a nice Florida break and said "alright, funs over, this is why you should never eat brussel sprouts."
I too would be indignant after all those brussel sprouts! Get well soon!
Me too!!!
The last couple of years have been rough for us, sickie-wise. Lots of colds and viral things despite elderberry syrup and organic eating and all that ‘good’ stuff.
Get well soon, and hopefully spring is right around the corner, and then SUMMER!! When (almost) all of the sickies go away. ☀ï¸
Brussel sprouts? WHY? It's your body's revenge for all of the Brussel sprouts you forced it to consume and digest, lol! Hope you feel better soon. We had a terrible flu season this year. I've heard of a lot of relapses happening. I got sick for the first time in years this winter, swiftly followed by the hubs (who was, of course, sicker than me :/ ). I've taken a zinc supplement daily for years but stopped about two months before I got sick for some reason that I don't remember that seemed valid at the time. You better believe I started taking it daily again! With a grandchild who brings home every germ and virus known to mankind, my immune system probably needs all the help it can get!
Sickness stinks. It seems everyone has been hit hard. Hopefully spring and summer wipe this sick season away and we'll not experience one this bad for years to come! Get well, and enjoy binge watching the Gilmore Girls!!
Awww, man, I'm so sorry you're feeling under the weather again! Sending you healing vibes from Texas.
(Also, feeling your pain a bit, because I'm five separate treatments into trying to fight the RIDICULOUS tree pollen here: Sudafed, Flonase, Zyrtec, Mucinex, a Neti Pot, and I'm still plowing through tissues like they're going out of style. And, of course, the meds are generic because I'm still frugal!)
So sorry you are not feeling well. This winter has been particularly brutal in terms of flu illnesses. Just one thing after another! Feel better soon!
Sorry to hear you're sick again 🙁
Everyone has been sick the past week on my house and somehow I'm avoiding it. (God's grace.)
TV is a great way to get through sick times.
Binge watching Gilmore Girls, sounds great to me. But sorry you are feeling bad again. I was sick twice this winter too. And my second go around was much shorter than the first. Hope yours is too.
Yes, that's my hope! I'd like to be released from the couch in short order. 😉
oh no!! I am so very sorry you are sick again! Prayers for a quick recovery! Hugs from Texas!
Sorry you are sick. Perhaps you need to eat more eggs? 🙂
Haha! I've been eating a lot of lovely farm fresh eggs. 😉
Feel better fast! Any kinds of illness that are back to back are, two too many in my book!!!
Awwwww... I'm frustrated for you, too, that it hit you again. Will pray!
Your sad news makes me feel better . . . wait that doesn't sound like what I meant.
But since 12/31/17 various bugs have been making themselves comfortable . . . and was disappointed that just as I got up to speed with duties, obligations, and responsibilities, something new wiped me out.
I found the up and down, well, depressing -- a reminder there is brass in the golden years?
Perhaps a pound of brussels sprouts may have done you in?
I've even been drinking elderberry juice! and I pass along one tip: drinking water. aiming for at least 64.
Praying that God raises you up, soon!
I suppose it's a reminder that our duties, obligations, and responsibilities CAN wait, when push comes to shove. It's a good reminder for me!
It's those Brussels sprouts. Definitely the Brussels sprouts.
There are so many bugs going around, it feels like they are never going to go away . Hope you are well soon and stay that way.
Linda
I'm sorry that you are sick again!! We understand - our house had lots of bugs this winter (stomach bug, the flu, and then a flu-like bug that only last 12 hours) that kept going from person to person in our family. Can't wait for spring!!
The worst! I’m so sorry to hear. Sometimes you just get a bad streak. Hoping it passes quickly.
I'm sorry to hear you're unwell again I know it's frustrating when you'd rather be well & doing things, probably all the good stuff helped you stave it off a bit but you need some solid rest to really give it the heave-ho - grace you could enjoy your holiday & now it's time to really rest & cosset yourself; I recommend Vit C & keep up the fluids & enjoy the Gilmore Girls 🙂
Feel better!
I just made a pound of brussel sprouts for this week. They better not betray me. Hope you feel better soon!
perhaps your body and brain are working together because they like
Gilmore Girls? feel better!
Ugh. Go away, germs; feel better, Kristen.
Me too....the never ending flu...7 weeks now
Oh my goodness! You've had a rough time of it. Feel better soon!
You get sick a lot.
Yeah, I was just saying to Mr. FG that it's been an unusually rough year for me healthwise. Usually I'm pretty healthy, but this past year I've caught a lot of random stuff.
I'm kind of wondering if my normally fabulous immune system has perhaps not recovered from the course of antibiotics I got after my nose surgery last year. I hadn't been on antibiotics for a decade before that, and maybe the antibiotics knocked my good bacteria for a serious loop.
I probably should get myself some probiotics. And if only I liked drinking kombucha, I'd do that! Heh.
Yogurt's good for gut bacteria, but it sounds like you may need something with a little more oomph. I second the probiotics; if you're generally healthy I can see how a round of antis could set things off.
I think I have a fresh bottle in my cabinet, actually. I just need to remember to take them!
I see you are also a watch-tv-when-sick person. oooh. I have to say that while I do not at all enjoy being sick, once I accept that I am sick and decide to stay in bed, I get a little bit excited, maybe giddy oh dear, because i allow myself to watch tv/movies/netflix with impunity which I do not do otherwise because waste of time/tired/work/etc. So it feels luxurious to be in bed, sipping tea and just watch a movie. I enjoy that little moment even in the midst of the fever. 🙂
Yes, I hardly ever watch TV when I'm well! But I make up for it in spades when I do get sick. 😉
You could try eating cloves of garlic. My grandma used to do this daily but she did smell a little funny.
Hope you feel better fast, Kristen! I'm a fan of both Brussels sprouts and Gilmore Girls, so good plan!
I can't find the post you wrote about it, but I wanted to thank you for the tip about bagging Aldi groceries at my car. I have three young children (1, 3, 5), so trying to shop and bag groceries and manage my kids at aldi has been terrifying! But with your tip, we had a great shopping experience. I loaded the boys in the car, kept my baby in the trunk area, and bagged in a flash. And my kids were safe, happy, and snacking the whole time!
And we have to drive an hour to Aldi, so I felt extra accomplished! Thanks so much
Ohh, I think I actually mentioned that on an Instagram story!
That's so smart to do that with small kids in tow. Mine were all out of car seats when I started shopping at Aldi, but I can imagine how nice it is to bag with your kids all strapped into their seats.
We're just emerging now from a three-month merry-go-round of sickness. Between monster headcolds and flu bugs, we just keep passing things back and forth. I'm so glad Spring is coming and with some warmer weather, I've been able to open my windows and let some freshness breeze through.
I hope you're feeling much better now! My go-to movie when I'm sick is Wizard of Oz lol.
