If you live outside the U.S., I'd love to hear from you!
Hello, everyone!
I have a few miscellaneous things to tell you today.
Outside the U.S.? We want to meet you!
We've had a lot of age diversity in our Meet a Reader features so far, but I think everyone I interviewed so far hails from America.

I know that there are plenty of you who live in other countries too, and I know other readers would love to read an interview with some non-Americans.
We'd love to see what frugality looks like around the globe!
So.
If you live outside the U.S. and you'd like to answer a few questions and send in some photos, please let me know. You can leave a comment on this post or you can send me an email.
And of course, I'm happy to feature more U.S.-based readers as well; let me know if you'd like to participate.
As always, you can share as much or as little info as you like, and while we do love to see reader's faces, several interviewees have chosen to stay anonymous, and that's totally fine too.
You can nominate my blog for an award from Plutus
Plutus is a little like the Oscars, but for personal finance blogs. I don't even know what I get if I win, but they let me know that I can share a link for you guys to nominate me.
I tried a homemade chia drink recipe
Lisey loves those Mamma Chia bottled drinks, so I wanted to try making a version at home.
I tried this recipe with some cran-grape juice we had. Super easy, very similar to the Mamma Chia drinks, and way, way cheaper!
(I did not add any maple syrup to my drink.)
Yesterday was my blog's birthday
I started The Frugal Girl on July 4th, 2008.
(Why did I start my blog on the 4th of July? I have no idea!)
Here's the very first post I ever wrote on this blog, about skirt re-fashioning for Lisey and me.
My blog's birthday always gets a little overshadowed by my country's birthday (rude, U.S.A.!), but hey, I've been typing here for 13 years now.
And some of you have been reading here for 13 years too.
Thank you for making this community what it is; I am so thankful that you all are here!

Congratulations on 13 years! Quite an accomplishment for sure!
Happy birthday! And many more!
Congratulations on your blog's birthday! I stumbled upon your blog a few years after you started. I think Lisey was about ten and you were doing Baking with Lisey posts. I remember that I liked your blog so much that I went back and read all your earlier posts in the space of less than a week.
It's a good thing there weren't quite so many archived posts when you came along. Binge-reading the archives would take eons now!
Lucky number 13, huh? Congratulations! That's a lot of words. And I, for one, appreciate all of them. Carry on.
Happy blog birthday! I read the skirt one that started it all as well as the ruffled skirt one that you linked in there and am super impressed with them both. The skirts turned out so well!!
I appreciate all the work that you've put in over the years to share tips with us and encourage us. It has truly made an impact on my everyday life!
Happy Birthblog Day! Here is to many more!!
I’m from the UK, long time reader but seldom comment!
I forgot to wish your blog a happy birthday- and noticed my previous email had an error in my email address xx
Canadian reader here!
Sadly from the United States. But I can put on stupid fake British, French, Spanish or Italian accents!
Also I can kind of sound a little like the Swedish Chef. BORK BORK BORK
@Rose, Can you add the symbols over the vowels in ways English doesn't? Accents and umlauts?
Well, you already got featured anyway. Ha.
@Heidi Louise,
¥ëš, ƠƂ čǾɥʁșȇ¦
@Rose, Hilarious!
Happy Blog Birthday! Will there be cake? 😉
I like your idea to interview an international reader (or several). There's a Canadian reader who was knitting a project last winter and I'd like to hear how it turned out (sorry, I'm bad with names) .... or the gal from Africa--Katy? (See, I TOLD you I was bad with names!). Or .... you get the idea!
Congratulations on the birthday and good luck for the awards! I’m a European reader based in Hong Kong available for your Meet the Reader series. I’m a bit shy on the internet but really love reading everyone else’s!
If you need an Ontario,Canada reader, I'd be happy to answer some questions! But also looking forward to hearing from Lindsay Hamilton or the knitting reader from Canada :).
Happy blogversary...I feel like I stumbled on your blog many year ago too, when your son Josh was doing blog posts linked under yours and you were taking pictures of your food waste. Rare commenter, but always reader.
A reader from India. I have been your blog reader probably from 7-8 years but never commented as I'm little internet shy. Appreciate your efforts and it gives me different perspective of other side of world.
Cheers,
Madhu
Ohh, yes! That would be great! I will email you.
Hi, Australian reader here. Always read your blog since I discovered it a few years ago 🙂
Fantastic. I will email you!
@Kristen, no worries
Congratulations on your blog anniversary! I started reading your blog sometime in 2010, as I quit my job to take care of newborn twins and our family finances were very tight for a while with four children.
I also look forward to hearing from international readers, and I'm about to embark on an international move myself going back to my home country in Europe.
Frugality in different countries definitely looks different!
I just love the idea of hearing from overseas readers for their perspective. The fact that you have so many loyal readers from lots of different countries —as well as here— is a testament to the great content of this blog. We’ve learned soo much from you and from each other!
Wow, 13 years! You know, maybe I've been reading this blog longer than I thought. Happy Blog Anniversary!
Lisey looks so little in that skirt post. So cute.
I would love to hear from international readers! I hope you can get several interviews.
I make my own kombucha for the same reason you made the chia drink -- it's amazingly cheaper to make it at home. I just brewed a batch of 12 pints this weekend for around $2.00 for the entire batch . Pints go for $3.50 to $5 each around here. Does Lisey like Chia pudding?
I'm looking forward to new "meet the readers" posts!
Hi, Dutch reader here. I follow jour blog for some years now. Always like to read you. I'm a huge Aldi-fan too ;-).
Happy blog birthday! This body of work must equal at least four books, maybe way more. I read your first blog post about the skirt creation, and at the bottom it said previous and there was a post about your clothesline, with the same date. You started off with a bang with two entries!
I remember reading that post, but I'm not sure if it was the original or a re-post. I know I've been reading since at least 2009, probably earlier. In fact, I remember traveling in NZ and Australia in February, 2010, and finding an internet cafe so I could catch up on the FG posts I'd missed. Happy Blog Birthday!
Congratulations on blogging for 13 years! I started reading about 8 years ago....don't comment often, but read it faithfully. Keep up the good work!
Congratulations on your blogging anniversary!
I'm not sure that I'd like to feature in one of your blogs, but I am part of the non-US reader count (residing in Netherlands, Europe). I hugely enjoy the responses from readers all over the world.
You have a very respectful and thoughtful reader community Kristen!
Bonjour from Québec, Canada!
Hey Kristen, I'm a rare commenter, I'm in Sydney Australia. Not a mum (well... date a guy with two kids, so bonus mum). I nominally live alone, but spend most nights with my boyfriend and his two kids which we have half the time. And he calls me a 'tight a**' cause in his opinion I am one/have one in both senses of the words!
Hi Kristen, happy belated blog birthday!!
I'm from Canada, so probably not the kind of non-USA reader you're looking for if diversity is the goal, but I don't comment often so wanted to take the time to say hi and thank you for all that you do. I've really enjoyed reading your blog and appreciate your writing voice!
I am from the Netherlands. I wish you a happy belated blog Birthday!
Oh, hello! Would you be interested in being featured in a Meet a Reader post? It would be fun to hear from the Netherlands. But if you don't want to, no worries.
Hello, I'm Sibylle from Germany.
I congratulate you on the great blog!
If you want, I can answer your questions about living frugally in Germany. Or check out my blog about minimalism, self-sufficiency, consumption reduction, sufficiency and DIY.
Greetings from Sibylle from http://www.miteigenehaenden.wordpress.com
Oooh, yes, that would be lovely! I will email you.
