Happy Saturday!
Hi everyone!
For the first time in what seems like forever, Mr. FG actually worked Monday-Friday (sadly, it's not going to be a regular thing...this was an exception, not the new rule!).
So, that means today is an honest-to-goodness Saturday for us. Yay!
But that also means my blogging schedule is kinda thrown off. So, please enjoy these pictures from our park outing with my sister yesterday. 😉
It was a fabulous, unseasonably warm day yesterday. When we see one of those in the forecast, my sister and I often make it a park day with our kids (she has four and I have four).
We biked (Zoe got to try out her new bike that she got for Christmas!).

We rollerbladed.
We had a picnic lunch by the water. We used to do this ON the beach, but my littlest nephew is sort of a disaster right now when food and sand are combined. Actually, the problem is that he combines food and sand.
Anyway, we stayed up in the pavilion with our food.
I enjoyed my adorable niece. Love.
Have I told you that she has delightful toes? She does. See?
Also, she made a really hilarious face at me. I shared it on my Facebook wall last night, but I want to share it here in case you aren't one of my Facebook fans. 😉
Do you see what wonderful things you are missing by not liking me there??
Aren't these so beautiful? I love that flowers are starting to bloom. Yay!
I told them all to jump for a picture. Zoe is totally cracking me up here.
One of the things I love about Joshua is that he does not at all think he's too cool to hang out with little kids.
And my nephew is glad of that, I think. 🙂
Even though we didn't eat on the beach, we did spend some time playing there.
And when you're on a beach, you just can't leave your shoes on.
Remember this post from last spring?
Yeah. I totally felt like that yesterday...6 hour beach/park outings on warm spring days make up quite nicely for the more painful parts of homeschooling (like, uh, correcting math pages).
I am blessed.
And also, I just want to say that I love hanging out with my sister, and I think it's so lovely that we live close enough to do this. Mwah, Rachel!
Today's 365 post: It was so warm last night...

What a lovely day! (I am kind of jealous, though, it is snowing at my house right now.) Looking forward these warm spring days-soon!!
My sister lives in LA, so I hardly ever get to see her.:(
This is the time of year where I have to be frugal, patient, and not jump in the car to head south! I have had enough of winter but am enjoying the taps flowing from our maple trees. These pics of you kids enjoying the beach are delightful. Each step I take outside when I don't put on the snowshoes, still sinks at least 3 feet...we have way to go!
How refreshing!!!! The photos are really awesome!!!! I feel like I was there!!!! Thanks for waking up springtime in us and letting all of us go on your adventure!!
Happy Saturday!! What a beautiful group of people. I love the baby photo too. Cute cute cute. It is great you can have so much fun. We all love to too. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely Post - made me smile . Thanks so much for sharing your life. I wish I had a sister.
sweet post! brought back memories of many monday mornings with my 3 kids and my sister and her 4. after the weekends, our kids needed a little park time.
here in the sf bay area, it's been rain, rain, rain... and more to come. looking forward to some short-sleeved t-shirt days. soon, i hope!
Happy Saturday to you, too!! Looks like so much fun yesterday. My husbands brother and his family live 20 miles from us. All the cousins are stair stepped (19 - 9; we have four, they have five) and love spending time with each other. It is blessing they are so close. We spend lots of Saturdays together sharing lunch (or dinner) and hanging out. It still to cold here to be outside much, but they just move the fun to my basement!!
very nice.
shouldnt your oldest son be wearing a helmet for safetys sake?
Ahhh...I can almost taste spring.
What a lovely day!!! I, too, wish I had a sister. And although I wouldn't truly change my family for anything, it is a regret that my daughter also has only brothers!!!
We're looking for bikes for our 4 and 6 year olds. I wonder where you got yours?
Looks like such a wonderful day! You are blessed to have a sister and the rest of your family! I know what you mean about Saturday. My husband works every weekend and has Tuesday and Wednesday off. It is weird how it is just not the same as having Saturday and Sunday off but we are thankful he has 2 days off in a row. Hope you had a great day!
I just clicked on the link at the bottom to your contentment page and remembered how inspirational it was/is. I realized that i have used that strategy that you mentioned you use with Sonia and didn't even realize that I picked it up here. I love reading this blog. I read on a daily basis. I am grateful that I have picked up some fresh ideas on stretching my family budget and I particularly loved the contentment and productivity series. I'm thinking from today's experience, perhaps I'll be going back and reading some of the former posts that i value so much.
Thanks Kristen
Love the jumping one! Isn't it funny that Grant and Tommy's jumps are the same?? =)
Also love the one of Joshua and AJ smiling at each other at the bottom of the slide!
Oh, and I love hanging out with you too! Mwah right back at you!
I think the fact that Joshua likes to play with younger kids is a result of homeschooling and not knowing/caring what kids his age think is "cool". My son (9) is the same way, he loves hanging out with the 5 year old brother of his best friends when she is in school, and when we meet other younger kids at homeschool events/activities, he always plays with whomever is around: it's based on interests, not age. When he went to school a few years ago, all the "alpha male" types who were setting the tone for the class made fun of him for wanting to play with girls, too, and that made me crazy mad!
Way to go, Joshua, and you all are very lucky to have family close by to play with!
