Get a set of Lunchskins for just $3!

lunchskins mighty nest

Good Monday morning to you, dear readers!

To kick things off this week here in blogland, I have a special offer for you from Mighty Nest, and it's lunchbox-themed, since school is going to start soon.

(This fact is making all the homeschooling moms cry bitter tears.   Surely summer has just started!)

Even though I'm a homeschool mom, Joshua is now packing lunches regularly for college, and Lisey needs a lunch one day a week because of her tutorial classes.

And of course, Mr. FG takes a lunch every day too.   So, we are not wholly unfamiliar with lunch packing around these parts.

lunchskins no waste lunch

I've written multiple times before about how we manage to pack (*mostly) waste-free lunches, so I won't rehash all of that here.

*Sometimes, we put things in single-use plastic bags.   It doesn't happen a lot, but it occurs more than zero times over the course of a year.   Progress, not perfection, oh frugal people.

But I will say this:

If you'd like to give this year's lunches a kick-in-the-pants, no-waste start, sign up for The Mighty Fix, and you'll get two Lunchskins, which are reusable, dishwasher-safe plastic bag alternatives, for just $3 (and free shipping!)

The Mighty Fix is a $10 subscription service which sends you an eco-friendly item or two every month.   The item is always worth more than $10, and under normal circumstances, the contents are a surprise each time.

However, if you sign up through any of the links in this post, you WILL know what your first fix is (it's bee these green Lunchskins) and that first Fix will only be $3 instead of $10!

A little more about the Lunchskins: these are velcro-sealed, and you'll get a sandwich size bag and a snack size bag.

The sandwich size bag is great for, well, a sandwich, and it's also roomy enough for a sandwich made on a bun.

And the snack size bag is great for a granola bar, pretzels or crackers, nuts, and dried fruit.

Lunchskins are perfect for lunch packing because they're lightweight and aren't breakable (unlike glass containers).

And you can easily wipe them out or run them through the dishwasher (in the top rack).

They're NOT good for long-term storage, since they're not airtight like plastic (bread stored in them would dry out in a couple of days.)

And if you live in a really humid climate, I suppose it's possible that pretzels and such might get un-crispy by lunchtime.

But for lunch-packing purposes here in my climate, they work great.

To get your $3 Lunchskins Mighty Fix:

Click here to sign up, and your Frugal Girl promo code will automatically be applied.

You'll get your first $3 Lunchskins Mighty Fix delivered right to your door, and you can cancel at any time.   You are under no obligation to get any more Mighty Fixes if you don't want to, and cancelling is easy.

This post is not sponsored, but it does contain Mighty Fix affiliate links. I signed up for Mighty Fix of my own accord last fall and have had a paying membership ever since, so my enthusiasm for the service is legit.   And I love that Mighty Fix comes from an independent, eco-friendly company, Mighty Nest.

  1. That's an amazing deal! With the $10 subscription service, do you find that you get duplicates of things? I'm toying with the idea of signing up, but I definitely don't want to accumulate more things than I need. It would be a bummer to pay $10 per month and end up with 5 water bottles by the end of the year, you know?

    1. Beth - We certainly don't send the same thing twice although there are some containers that work differently (glass fridge storage vs. on the go stainless steel food storage containers) and MightyFix users will receive more than 1 reusable container in their subscription.

      1. Hi, Do you have a separate subscription for twins? I need 2 of most things. I would need 2 lunchskins packs, for sure.

  2. My son's school starts next week! Its hard to believe. I'm not ready to send him back, but thankfully, he is very excited to go to first grade. Not looking forward to all the lunch packing again, but thoses are super cute bags.

  3. I have a few Lunchskins and they work well. I signed up for Mighty Fix when it was the metal containers for $5- so far it has been containers, beeswax wraps, wool dryer balls and produce bags so no repetition so far and it is all stuff I had my eyes on anyway.

    1. I signed up then too but my last one was a collapsible silicone container, not produce bags. Funny! I've been happy that I signed up, and figure that if I get a couple of things over the course of the year that I won't use or already have they'll make great gifts for others.

    2. Great to hear from you, Stephanie! We make sure there would never be a duplicate sent! happy to hear that you are putting your fixes to good use!

  4. Is there a deadline for this $5 sign-up deal? I'm strongly considering signing up, but I'm moving in a month, so I don't want to add more things to my list of address changes right now. 🙂

  5. So I guess these aren't waterproof? That's my only hesitation to switch from plastic baggies! It's hard to hold things that are liquid-y.

I absolutely love the commitment to being as waste-free as possible. 🙂 I've always packed my lunch, but in the last few months I've started including silverware and plates from home so I don't have to buy/fill up the landfill with plastic plates or forks.

    1. The actual bag material IS waterproof, yep! The seal at the top is velcro, so if you turn the bag upside down, then liquid would come out.

But if you were to pack something a little bit wet like, carrot sticks or apple slices, you'd be fine. No liquid would leach out into the rest of your lunchbox.

I wouldn't put soup in them, though. Ha.

    2. I keep a collection of eating items at my desk: fork, knife, teaspoon, soup spoon, small plate, 2 c. Pyrex bowl, 4 c. Pyrex bowl, soup mug, coffee mug, and a real towel to dry them all when I wash them. Sometimes I get a weird look for bringing my own plate and fork when it's birthday cake time but that's better than all that waste. Especially the paper towels for drying dishes - I'd be using several every day.

      1. Real silverware is SO much more enjoyable to eat with, which is why I always send it with Mr. FG. Plastic forks and knives are especially useless!

  6. I signed up last fall and like others, I've had no repeats nor have they sent me something I've already bought. I've shopped the members' only sales and gotten some gifts as well as a thing or two just for my house, which I only get if I actually need them and it's the best price. I checked one item against the manufacturer's site -- the prices were the same as at Mighty Nest, so no crazy mark up that I can see.
I have a granddaughter going back to school this week (and by the way, my Mighty Nest subscription helps support her school) and I can't believe it's time already. Summer went so fast when I had kids in school; you should see how fast it goes when you have grandkids in school! I feel for her; she goes back in the high heat of a Florida August, whereas my husband and I always went back the day after Labor Day. She gets more days off at the holidays than we did, but I'm not sure it's worth it. Every year, the schools have to be so careful of heat stroke and heat sickness at the sports and band practices, and sometimes, a student is stricken. I really think it would be better to wait until it's a little cooler, myself, but they are using statewide test dates to help determine school start up dates, which aggravates me as well.
I just realized, I'm eating crackers out of a Lunchskin right now.

  7. I just signed up. Thank you! I almost signed up last year, but chose not too. We lived in a tiny house so extra "stuff" was not a good choice for me. we've moved in he last year and hand a little more breathing room so I jumped in. Thanks again!

  8. I just signed up! We have a few reusable bags already, but I was just thinking about picking up a fee more.

Another cool thing about The Mighty Fix- they will donate 15% of what you spend to the school of your choice!

  9. Why didn't I get be $5 deal? It came up to $10.00 per month and it added up to $7 at the end of it but not $5 🙁
    Why?

    1. Meghana -

      Thanks,

    1. Goodness, I don't know why that's happening! I've just reached out to my contact at Mighty Nest to ask her to figure out what's going on.

    2. Hi Irene -
The code is working just fine. When you use the link that Frugal Girl is offering, a discount of $7 will appear in your cart and at checkout, you'll pay just $3. Please let us know if you need help!

  11. I'm interested in purchasing some of these products but I'm not interested in joining a monthly subscription. Can these items be purchased with out subscribing?

  12. How well does the Velcro hold up/clean up on the Lunchskins? I had some cheapie reusable bags, and the Velcro got a little icky after a while. Love that these can go in the dishwasher, though!

  13. Hi. Just wondering what lunch skins are made of? I'm trying to avoid plastics period. This is ok for me as I can pack my lunch in a glass container, but for my son? It's a challenge. So while I'd love to completely eliminate plastic baggies, if it's just another plastic bag, I don't know?

  14. Is shipping included in the $10/month subscription or is it $10 + shipping each month? Can you stop it at any time? Thanks.

    1. I just used the link, and I had the option of $7 off first shipment, or $21 off a one-year subscription. First order is the Lunchskins show here.

  15. I love the products I see on the site and was willing to sign up for the $3 first time lunch skins but the link doesn't automatically take you to that option. Then once I found it and added to my cart, the promo code wasn't applied. Then I typed the code in and it says I need to have the appropriate product for the code. I'm not the type to jump through hoops, even if the product is free. If it's going to be this complicated then I guess I'm not signing up.

    1. This looks great, but as a parent with little time, I prefer not to have WHITE in anything. Do you have prints that are just blue, green, etc., mixed? No white? As I work toward sustainability, I try to avoid bleach.

Thank you for a great looking product!
