Remember Amani Ya Juu? (It’s a non-profit that helps marginalized African women earn a living for their families.)
We had a giveaway from them just a few weeks back, with the beaded star and the tea towels.
Well, Amani wanted to do one more giveaway for you guys before the holidays are over, and they also wanted me to review a few more items.
Soo, they sent me an apron, which is very exciting because my apron is super old and falling apart. I’ve been wanting a new one for a while, but so many I saw were frilly and ruffly and that is just not my style.
But this apron is full of practicality, and there’s not a ruffle in sight. Yay!
(Amani Ya Juu DOES offer a ruffly apron, for those of you who like fancier aprons than I do. )
My Amani apron is made of durable fabric, the top comes up nice and high to keep my whole shirt clean, and the bottom part covers a good bit of my pant legs too.
On me, the apron is wide enough to reach around my sides, so it will fit a variety of waist sizes while still keeping your whole front covered.
Ooh, and it has pockets!
My apron was made by a woman named Melanie from Rwanda, and she was recently featured in an Amani email, where they asked her what she was thankful for.
Here’s what she said:
“I am thankful to God for:
-My Amani family.
-My children, because they are good at school and they also help me with work at home. They make me happy when I am sad.
-A loving and caring husband.
-Beans and potatoes, because they make me healthy and strong…I thank God that I am able to afford them.
-My many friends from different countries.”
I love that Amani is helping women like Melanie create a better life for themselves and their families. So great.
Amani also sent me a red beaded bracelet, which was created by a man named Stephen, who Amani has worked with for years. He sells most of his products (including beautiful pottery) in the Maasai Market of Nairobi, Kenya.
This is one long bracelet, which looks like multiple stacked bracelets and I think it’ll be especially fun to wear in warmer weather.
Did you know it’s pretty difficult to take a picture of yourself with a bracelet? I finally resorted to using the mirror.
The bracelet comes in green too, by the way, in case red’s not your thing.
Amani is giving away a $50 gift certificate this time, so you can shop for whatever you’d like at their store!
To enter, take a peek at the things Amani Ya Juu offers and then come back and leave a comment telling me what you’d buy with your $50.
(I know last time we had some confusion about how to enter the Amani giveaway, but this time I promise my instructions are correct!)
By the way, Amani Ya Juu’s order deadline for Christmas is December 18th, so you’ve still got almost a week to get your orders in.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Void where prohibited. One entry per person. Odds of winning depends upon the number of entrants. This post is not sponsored and it does not contain affiliate links. Amani sent two complimentary review items.
