Win a $29 Third Day Naturals Gift Set!

I've worked with Third Day Naturals, a little family-owned skincare company, many times before.   But since I'm sure some of you are new faces around here, a bit of a review is in order.

Third Day Naturals

Third Day Naturals makes healthy, simple skincare products that smell lovely and work great.   They started out by making soap, but they now offer sugar scrubs, lip balm, lotion sticks, and more.

Our very favorite Third Day Naturals product is the lip balm.   It's got no petroleum products or phthalates, and so I feel really good about putting this on my family's lips.   Plus, it works better than other lip balms I've tried, like Burt's Bees, and it comes in really delightful all-natural fragrances.

My second-favorite product is the body butter.

It's made from a shea butter base, and it is so, so good on dry skin.   I don't have terribly dry skin, but in the winter, my face gets dry on my cheeks, and this is the only thing I've found that really works.

Also, this stuff is great if you have sensitive skin...my friend has little girls with super sensitive skin, and this is one of the few things that isn't irritating to their skin.

It lasts forever, too! I've been using my container for at least two winters now.   A little goes a long way, so it's quite a bargain when compared to other lotions.

The Giveaway

Third Day Naturals has a $29 product package to give away to a lucky Frugal Girl reader.   You'll get:

1-lotion stick
1-lip balm
1-soap
1-body butter

And you get to choose your scents for each product!

These would be fun to give away to someone on your gift list...or of course, you could keep them for yourself.   😉

To enter, leave a comment telling me how you take care of your skin naturally.

(If you haven't got any tips of the sort, it's totally fine to just say, "I want this!" 😉 )

  1. A tip for (very) dry skin: apply crisco (yes, crisco) after showering or bathing. It's a cheaper, natural version of aquaphor. Dermatologist recommended (literally, that's how I found out about it).

  2. Witch hazel is a fabulous astringent and I feel comfortable with my 10 year old daughter using also. With this winter coming that lip gloss looks fabulous!

  3. OOOh! What a lovely giveaway! In the winter, I try to take shorter, cooler showers. Not as much fun, but I am prone to excema if I'm not careful about it. I use a body butter with shea in it and I lotion up immediately after every shower. I also drink a lot of water.

  4. I use a very simple cold cream but would love to try these! I also avoid lip balm because they always seem to thick and waxy and would love to try this.

  5. Ummm...I don't wash my face as often in the winter because otherwise it gets too dry. That's all I got 😉 I'd love to win!

  6. I'm a big fan of cocoa butter, shea butter, and olive oil. They're the best for keeping winter skin from becoming too dry.

  7. I wash my face with goat milk soap. Every few weeks I exfoliate with a washcloth. My skin is pretty sensitive! My husband's skin gets very dry in the winter, and he hasn't found a moisturizer that works. The body butter sounds great!

  8. I used to make a lot of my skin care regime, but as I get older I'm more interested in pre-made natural products. A lot of the time the homemade stuff just doesn't last long enough for me.

  9. I've tried many drugstore products over the years but never really loved anything so am interested in this brand, especially with winter finally upon us!

  10. I use and love Lemongrass Spa Products. Great products from a great company, but I always like trying new ones too and supporting small businesses. I have been curious about TDN since you first blogged them a couple years ago.

  11. I don't wear make-up at all. I have an eye issue that prevents me from wearing contacts and make-up.

I use soap and water on my face.

I'm not sure if that's really taking care of my face. I'm no beauty queen, but my face isn't super dry or oily.

One thing that's kept my skin more clear is being pregnant. Hormones really do a number on your skin.

  12. My daughter has trouble with dry skin. We haven't found anything topical that helps, but eating a natural diet makes a huge difference.

  13. I've been using MSM cream with essential oils like lavender and Bowtech oils from the UK that includes oils for pain. I've tried so many things, though, and get so confused. How delightful to find your website and learn ways to keep it all more simple! I am in the process of learning how to K.I.S.S.....if you know what I mean!

  14. I try to drink lots of water, take my vitamins, and get adequate sleep. I am currently searching for a new skin care line so would love to win this

  15. I want this - because I am trying to find a lip balm that works for my very dry lips and I try not to use substances which aren't really intended for skin. The whole package sounds nice too.

  16. At the age of 35 I started breaking out. More than I ever did as a teenager! I also have fairly dry skin especially in the winter. I'd love to try these products.

  17. I use a variety of handmade soaps, including my own or local made. Very little makeup. I too have problem with dry patches on my face in the winter plus a granddaughter with skin allergies (she is 2). I am always looking for great natural skin care items and would love to win this and share it with my granddaughter

  18. I have a very simple skin routine.

Everyday, I wash my face with a wet cold cloth. No soap.

When I shower, I use baby shampoo for my face and Dove for the rest of me!

I'm very interested, however, in trying Third Day Naturals.

  19. Never sleep in makeup

    Drink tons of water

    Moisturize religiously

Only wash face at night-- in the morning a gentle warm water rinse is all you need

    Get enough sleep

Limit sodium, caffeine and alcohol (But do have a little).

  20. My daughter has sensitive skin, and some food allergies, so we are always looking for natural products for her to try. I would love to have this for her!

  21. Hi Kristin. Thanks for the giveaway! I purchase as many phthalate free (and other chemical free) soaps and shampoos as I can. I use coconut oil as a makeup remover and as a lotion after I'm done cleansing. Thanks to everyone for some great ideas.

  22. For a face cleanser/mask that really helps with my skin and my allergies, I mix 1/2 tsp of dry milk powder (grind it gently in your palm so there aren't big clumps), 2-6 drops of essential oil blend, and 1 1/2 Tbsp local honey. Leave at least 1 min, as long as you'd like. Wash off in the shower like normal. It's the most effective and reliable method I've ever found and actually cheaper than buying prepared face washes/masks, too!

  23. I'm just getting started on switching over to a more natural way of living, which includes beauty care. I would love to try these products and see how they work.

  24. I'd love to try this line of products!

For all over moisturizer, I use either coconut or olive oil. I use the same stuff we use for cooking - even use them in my hair as a deep conditioning mask (heat it up slightly and it's like a hot oil treatment)

  25. Drinking lots of water and eating a healthy diet really help my skin stay balanced. I also take biotin supplements. I'd love to try these natural products!

  26. I try to keep things to a simple minimum, I use Cetaphil to wash my face, and coconut oil and lanolin for moisture.

  27. I use argan oil and coconot oil but have noticed they (especially the argan oil) do not have the same good effect on my skin. I'd love to win this to try it!

  28. Wash my face with a cloth and water only. Then I moisturize morning and night. That's it. If I get a breakout I use tea tree oil on the spots.

  29. I have a collection (over the years) of different products that I am trying to use up, although I am careful to stay away from products that irritate my skin. Generally the natural products without added ingredients are the ones I like.

    1. and as I was reviewing the website, I don't see anything about spf. All the better, because I think that bothers my skin.

  30. I use Ahava skin care products as well as Young Living essential oils. For help minimizing dark spots, I use Frankinsence infused coconut oil. I also have 3 daughters so I'm always looking for natural skin care products!

  31. I'm new to the natural beauty care routine, but after a long bout with rosacea, I cut almost all sugar from my diet and started moisturizing my skin with coconut oil and it seems to have helped remove lots of the redness and bumps and dryness.

  32. I don't actually use many products, and just wash my face with water - I guess water is natural, right? 😉 I'd love to try these products out, they sound so amazing!

  33. A baking soda and water paste makes a lovely face exfoliate. I also make my own solid lotion bars which I use on hands and feet. That's where I get my winter dryness. They are beeswax, cocoa butter, shea butter, and essential oil. I started them for my mom, who has really sensitive skin. I make the same thing in chapstick tubes, minus the oil.

  34. My "daughter-in-Love" gave me some natural home-made soaps last CHRISTmas which I have been using on my face for a year. They are creamy, non-drying, and leave no soap film. I also recently found some pumpkin cream containing enzymes and anti-oxidants at Sam's which I am now using for moisturizer. It does not feel greasy and my 62 year old face feels radiant. The more natural a product is, I believe the better. But, oftentimes the cost is prohibitive. It would be a Blessing to receive this free offer from Third Day Naturals.

  35. Oatmeal & Honey soap from Trader Joe's! I used to use a ton of products and should find a moisturizer, but for now the soap works great 🙂

  36. I try to keep things as simple and natural as possible...just soap and water to cleanse...

Thank you for the giveaway opportunity and have a lovely day!

  37. Drink lots of water, always wear sunscreen, and condition my hair with coconut oil wrapped in a hot towel for about 15 minutes once a week or whenever I can.

  38. I use natual/mineral make-up and lots of lotion, always looking for something new that will help my dry skin and not bother my sensitive skin.

  39. I'd love to try some of their products -- I have kids who suffer from eczema and I am always looking for something to try that might work better!

  40. I've switched my makeup to natural plant based products (100% pure and bloom naturals). I usually wear mascara, eye shadow, and lip balm. I use a hard lotion bar on my skin and it feels amazing (MadeOn skincare). I think it has beeswax, coconut oil and shea butter. I love it so much better than the other stuff I used for my dry skin. I've also tried natural lip balms ( also MadeOn). The peppermint is my favorite so far. Thanks so much for the chance to win! 🙂

  51. I really want this!! I am 51 and have never really had a skin care plan. I now am having dry patches on face and hands.

    Thank you Marilyn

  52. I work really hard at taking care of my skin. Coconut oil and all natural products only. I even make some of my own products from my garden! Love this brand and all their wonderful products.

  57. I want this to try on my 9 month old! He has super sensitive skin, especially now that winter has hit.

I use an oil cleansing method on my face. It's worked wonders on my oily skin.

  58. I never wore makeup like foundation to begin with, but stopping even the small amount I did wear made the biggest difference in my complexion! And it saves money. But I use just a natural cleanser and moisturizer these days - both from Alba Botanica. Thanks, Kristen!

  59. I have rosacea and have found that the 2 best inexpensive face products to use are Eucerin sensitive skin redness relief soothing cleanser and Aveeno ultra-calming daily moisturizer with sunscreen. I would love to try the Third Day products also.

  60. I don't! I use regular, chemical laden products, so this would be a first for me. I'd love to try something natural.

  61. I used to make my own oatmeal soap when i was a SAHM, but now that I work full time I don't have the time anymore, so I would love to try this!

  62. I wash my face with water, using a washcloth to exfoliate. I have not found a moisturizer that I love yet though.

  63. I buy some all natural soaps and lotions at our loacl farmer's market - but I didn't stock up enough for this winter. 🙁 I want to try these products, they sound wonderful. 🙂

  64. I wash my face in the morning and moisturize according to the time of year. I usually use a soft face wipe on my face at night. I don't wear a huge amount of makeup. When I do I just buy whatever I get on a great sale. I would love to try the body butter. My hands get sooo dry in the winter. I have to rub eucerin cream into them and put gloves on at work. It's kind of a hassle, but it beats sore hands.

  65. In the shower, I exfoliate with a felted piece of wool (thrift- store sweater) and a gentle soap. I remove makeup with coconut oil. I make the effort to not use mineral oil products.

  66. I live @9,300ft in the Rocky Mountains...very dry all year but winter is crazy dry. Lotion/oil/cream from head to toe every day and used many times a day on my hands(I wash my hands a lot!). I've tried everything including coconut oil, which is just ok but not great at moisturizing my dry skin. I would LOVE to give TDN a try! 🙂

  67. I've tried Appple cider vinegar as a natural toner. I've been wanting to switch to a totally natural skin routine. 🙂

  71. I make a whipped Shea butter "lotion" and a mixture of Olive/castor/various other oils for when I want something lighter. Thanks for this opportunity.

  72. Eating healthy and exercising keeps my skin looking good and makes me feel good...and being happy brings a natural glow!

  76. I use Norwex face cloths. They remove makeup with only water. I also use coconut oil as lotion. I would love to win!

  77. I know it sounds strange, but I use Crisco on my feet. It works great when they get dry and cracked. Also use lots of coconut oil.

  78. I've started using The Honest Company for my all natural products both cleaning and personal items. So far so good.

  79. We don't use shampoos or cleansers with laurel sulfate a in them. They strip oils and cause our bodies to then overproduce oils and continue the cycle

  80. Dry skin all over--face, body, and scalp. And eczema, to boot. So I take fewer showers than as a younger person and use a basic body butter and moisturizer and a soothing natural facial cream at night.

Every time you mention Third Day Naturals, I've been interested; I hope this is my time!

  81. I use the oil cleansing method to wash my face. I like that it doesn't dry my skin out and there are no chemicals. I'm putting third day naturals on my wish list!

  88. Honestly, the best thing I do for my skin is to protect it from the sun. I wear hats, I wear sunscreen, and I keep those harmful rays out of my face!!! I'm also a big fan of coconut oil in the winter!

  89. I have very dry skin from having treatments for b.c. so my routine has changed. Would like to try natural products from now on.

  90. I have super dry skin - especially now as I get older and winter here in New Mexico, my skin is so dry it hurts. I would love to try these products, I have tried many natural products that just don't help that much, but I too, hate all the chemicals in other products. Thank you!!!!

  91. I'd love to try their body butter on my very dry skin. I have had a very difficult time finding any effective way to keep my skin in good condition. Eating almonds and avocados seems to help some, but I'm excited to read all the tips other people have to see if I can find something that works for me.

  92. I don't know as I have any tips, but I sure could use some. I've started swimming in pool a few days a week and while I'm not sure if this is fully the cause, my skin has been super dry lately. I've started having dry peeling patches in the places where my jeans sit on my hips, where my shirts sit on my shoulders, ankles where the tops of my socks are, etc. I've always had dry, easily irritated skin, but this is getting crazy.

  93. I use witch hazel as an astringent each morning. Evenings, I cleanse my face with a mixture of olive oil and castor oil, and then use pure moringa seed oil to moisturize. The combination gives my skin a great fresh color!

  94. I am obsessed with using various oils to address our family's dry skin. We love Jojoba and Coconut oils in particular, and we like to add a drop or two of essential oils for a nice fragrance.

  95. I do few things like drink lots of water, rarely wear make-up, always wear sunscreen on my face & always keep lip balm in my pocket.

  96. I use Cetaphil and a soft washcloth to exfoliate gently. And definitely use a make up remover to remove all trace of eye makeup before bed. I like to use natural facial masks monthly (such as 1 TBLSP pumpkin, 1 tsp of honey and 1 tsp Vitamin E after steaming my face). I use a daily sunblock on my face, too. I would love to try Third Day Naturals!

  97. I use Rhodan and Fields products for my face, and my daughter, who struggles with dry skin, uses the Eucerin cream for her hands and arms.

  98. I have a "dark chocolate + mint argan oil lip balm" that I love. Argan oil moisturizes so much better than Vaseline based products! But I would love to try Third Day naturals!

  99. I use Burt's Bees products. Absolutely love their coconut oil foot crème. I have suffered from eczema in the past and this is the only foot crème that helps. I have also tried other natural product line when I can get them on sale. Face moisturizer is especially important in the winter months.

  100. I'm still struggling to figure out natural skin care! Currently researching Redeeming Beauty Minerals for makeup (Emily works individually with each customer to help figure out their colors!) They have great prices and I've heard rave reviews. I get some things from Acure Organics through ePantry. But I'd love to try another brand! Thanks for doing a great giveaway like this! My mom also struggles with dry skin and if I win I may have a conscience struggle on whether to keep or share as a Christmas gift!

  101. No makeup, wash my face with water in the AM and with an antibacterial soap (due to adult acne) in the evening. Daily face lotion, oil free and some SPF.

  102. I don't really have any tips other than to drink lots of water and stay away from caffeine and alcohol - not that I'm always the best about following my own advice! But I do notice a difference.

  103. I'm trying to switch to only natural products. I use the non natural products up before I switch out for a less toxic version. I'm a light to medium make up wearer and I come from the Southwest so my skin is always dry, even in the summer.

  104. We use a goat milk and honey soap from a local farm -- really nice on the skin! we would love to try another natural soap and lotion!

  105. I use coconut oil on my face at night, it's inexpensive and works wonderfully for my skin. Beyond that, I use all Lush products for cleansing and moisturizing my face, but good body products are still hard to find. I'd love to try out this company!

  106. I use coconut oil to deep condition my hair, I use witch hazel as a skin toner, and I've recently started using an all-natural petroleum jelly substitute that I'm loving called "Waxelene!"

  107. I have been using the MK Timewise line for years now and would love to try a more natural skin care line. My youngest daughter has sensitive skin and the body butter would be nice, especially for her.

I would love to win this!!

  108. I've just started using coconut oil for a lotion. I also use a natural soap made locally near our town. I would love to try Third Day Naturals.

  109. I would love to win! I am seriously considering donating my stockpile of regular skin/hair care and making the switch.

  110. There are so many great natural things you can use for skin care and treatmnent. Love lemon and honey, apple cider vinegar, witch hazel, oatmeal, coconut, olive and almond oil...the list goes on...

  111. I make my own face cleanser out of coconut oil, olive oil, and castor oil. I try to use only natural lotions and soaps. Also I make my own toothpaste! It works great.

  112. I currently use some homemade products that are made by a friend who is well versed in essential oils. However, I have yet to find a lip balm that I absolutely love and would love to try these products!

  113. I use Olay as my daily moisturizer. It's price smart, and not too strong, which is great for my sensitive skin!

  114. Oooo, very nice! I have pretty sensitive skin, so I haven't even been able to find make up that works consistently. To break out, or not to break out? To wake up with normal eyes, or to wake up with burning, itching, bloodshot, watering eyes? Find out in the morning! I had a lip balm made by a friend with all natural ingredients that was pretty nice, but it ran out. I use a face scrub of equal parts almond meal and rolled oats which works well, and usually moisturize with olive oil, coconut oil if it's really bad. However, that takes about 5 years to absorb. This time of year, though, my skin is dying. I have a very difficult time keeping from flaking away. I'm from the very humid East coast, so the mountains of Idaho are a bit of a switch in moisture content!

  115. Because my skin is sensitive and dry I've been using Aveeno, but I would welcome others that are recommended. I have used the Third Day head to toe soap and really like it, so I would be willing to give that a whirl. 🙂

  116. I have bought the lip balm and my girls really like it. I'm starting to switch over to more natural friendly products. Would love this set!

  117. I have sensitive skin so I don't like to try new things but if I win it and my daughter uses it all if I don't like it it's ok.

  118. I love scrubs and soap to exfoliate dry, red skin on my arms. Lip balms are wonderful as winter comes in. I haven't tried many natural skin products because they are a little bit pricey sometimes, but I love other natural products such as Deep Steep ecofriendly skincare products. I would love to try this brand! Looks like they have lovely scents

  119. Cooler water in my shower. Lemon juice on my arms and legs followed by a homemade coconut oil and sugar scrub for my keratosis. Lastly, rose hip oil on my face at night.

I know genetics play a part, but taking care of my skin has me looking between 5 - 10 years younger than my actual age.

  120. I eat a simple, clean diet 95% of the time, and use products that are rated relatively safe on the Skin Deep Database published by the Environmental Working Group.

  121. I would love to try these natural products! My tip is to go without makeup a few days a week, it gives your skin a chance to breathe.

  122. My sister-in-law made some wonderful body butter from the beeswax from her hive last year. Unfortunately the bees had a rough year this year and so no more honey or beeswax for my dry, dry skin! 🙁

  123. I wash my face with unscented castille soap in the morning and rinse it off with water every night. I don't wear makeup so this works for me.

  124. I want this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  125. I'm really lucky in that my skin mostly takes care of itself...a little moisturizer now and then in the winter and loads of sunscreen in the summer and it's happy.

  126. In the winter my legs look like the scales on fish...and are so very dry. After showering, I put olive oil on my wet skin and pat dry. I then put a high moisture lotion on. This keeps the dry legs at bay.
