So. We visited Coinstar. And I'm giving money away to you.

pennies for coinstar

Coinstar emailed me a bit ago to see if I wanted to give their machines a try, and since they're kindly paying me for the time I spent doing that, I thought it would be kind of nice if I shared some of that with you.

(Because heaven knows no one would pay me to go to Coinstar if you guys didn't read my blog!)

So, I'm giving away another $50 Amazon gift card (purchased by me) to one of you.

And I'll email it right over to you once the giveaway ends so you can use it for your Christmas shopping.

Click right here to read all about our Coinstar visit, and to enter the giveaway by leaving a comment.

Leaving a comment on this post won't enter you (though you're certainly welcome to talk to me here!).

And email subscribers! If you email me, I can't keep track of your entry. So click here to visit the actual blog and then leave a comment.

  1. If you hate rolling coins as much as I do, just wanted to let you know that your bank might accept coins that are not rolled. Our bank will take the coins and put them in their larger change counter and give us the cash or deposit into one of our accounts. And it's also free! Just another option. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Curious What Bank is that ?
Our Banks here Charge to even just Talk to a Teller ๐Ÿ™
Another Reason I Quit my Bank Teller Job many yrs ago

  2. Do you have a lot of change because you use a cash budget? I am on the fence about getting separate debit cards (within the same checking account) and sticking with cash. I end up with a lot of change I'm constantly collecting and it's not in my bank account.

    1. I do use cards to pay for a lot of things, but we do still pay for some things with cash. So coins accumulate over time.

  3. I LOVE CoinStar !
    *** It's FAST & EASY ! ***
& Who Don't LoVe that ๐Ÿ™‚ no one wants to Sit & Roll Coin & I use to be a Bank Teller Many Moons ago ๐Ÿ˜‰
    * we always put Our Coin in Jars to Save we never spend our Coin it gets Saved up for something Needed or a FUN Outing or Gas $ (when the Prices were soooo High :/ )

  4. The branch bank near my home no longer takes coins either. (You must go to the main bank, which is not so convenient). I hadn't used CoinStar because of the fees, but now finding I can get Amazon and iTunes gift cards and get rid of the coins sitting in jars in my house seems to be a win-win situation. Hooray!

  5. I've never used Coinstar. I always thought they charged a fee. Do you know if they do? Our lovely bank does not charge me to roll coins, if I'm just bringing in a few rolls worth of coins.

Mostly, I just try to use the coins. At the end of each month, I load up my coin purse with coins, and use them to pay for small purchases. If I just need 1 item at the dollar store, then I use coins. If I stop at a small business that I don't want to have to pay transaction fees on my behalf if I use a card, then I just use coins and bills.

But I recognize that a machine like Coinstar could be very helpful to some folks.
