Keeping New Year’s Resolutions?

Hey everyone!

Lookee here. I’m on my blog twice in a single day. How about that?

(Incidentally, I made it through my presentation this morning! Yay! And I appreciate all of your encouraging words yesterday…thank you.)

I’m participating in a program BlogHer does called Life Well Lived, and the current topic we’re discussing is New Year’s Resolutions and how to keep them.

Now, I don’t exactly make New Year’s resolutions per se, but as you know, I do love to make goals for myself. And I personally find that I am at least 93% more successful at keeping my resolutions if I tell other people about them.

This explains exactly why I find blogging so helpful! The reason I even started blogging in the first place was for accountability about my food waste problem.

There’s something about writing my goal down and telling other people that’s terribly motivating to me.

I don’t want to have to tell someone else I failed, of course.

And on the positive side of things, I want to be able to share happy news with all of you…it’s much more fun to write, “I did this!” than, “I dropped the ball.”

How do you keep your New Year’s Resolutions or other goals?

BlogHer has shared 5 Tips for Keeping Your Resolutions, so go check those out if you need help staying on track with your goals!

Oh, and there’s a Life Well Lived giveaway going on right now…you could win a Kindle Fire plus $50 to spend at Amazon, so go enter!

I don't make resolutions, but I set monthly goals like you do, and blog about how I've done. Sometimes the prospect of having to say, "Yeah, I got totally lazy and didn't do __ at all" is enough to motivate me to complete my goals. :-)

I love making resolutions, but I really try not to be over ambitious about it. I also like to choose themes :D Last year, the theme was adding more fruits and veggies into our diet. I didn't do perfectly, but I did add a bunch! This year, I'm working on our finances and most of my goals have to do with my budget. I'll probably work again on fruits and veggies next year, along with health. I find, like you, that blogging about it helps me. Only family and friends really read it, but it's still nice to just have it out there.

Thanks for letting us know about the giveaway too!

Judy, There is a free app for a smart phone and it syncs with the desktop website that I recommend to everyone that is trying to lose weight! It's called myfitnesspal and it truly can help you lose weight. My husband has already lost 30 pounds last year and is trying for another 30 pounds this year.

This app is a food and calorie tracker that saves your foods (so you don't have to keep looking it up each time), but has so much more to offer than just tracking calories. You can also put in all of your recipes and it will tell you the calories and nutritional information on them. You can also invite friends to join this app and all of you could be "friends" on this app to offer each other encouragement!

I would recommend looking at this app and it's website (myfitnesspal.com) to get all the details but everyone who I have told about it has lost weight!

Good Luck on your venture to eat healthy and lose weight, and I offer encouragement, and know you can do it!
