I am not going anywhere today.
And no one is coming here.
This calls for a day spent in a comfy shirt and track pants.
I think the kids and I will bake and frost cut-out Christmas cookies today.
What are you doing today?

Today's 365 post: The pfeffernusse, they are done.
Joshua's 365 post: Wow.

It's my first day of Winter Break! I'm going walk to the dog park, go to the grocery store (to get everything before mad rush), spin class, make granola, clean house, and maybe squeeze in a run with the pups before dinner.
Love your attire today! I'm having lunch with an old friend visiting for the holidays, followed by a walk in this rather mild weather. This evening, I'm baking cranberry bread for neighbor gifts.
Today I will preparing myself for the saddest day of my life. My grandmother passed away unexpectedly and tomorrow we will be saying our last goodbyes.
Oh, Ambar, I'm so sorry. My grandma passed away suddenly when Lisey was a baby, and though the suddenness meant no pain for my grandma, it was hard for all of us. Hugs.
Ambar, I am sorry for your loss. Wishing you comfort.
So very, very sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and yours.
Ambar ~ I am so very sorry that you have lost your dear Grandmother! Our thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow as you say "Good-bye". I am sad with you! Hugs, Cheeryshirley
So very sorry for your loss.
1.5 more days of work for me. But it's pretty deserted around here, so should be nice and relaxed. So far Im the only one in the office. ha!
The a trip to the PostOffice to pick up packages. Yay presents! A dinner of leftovers and off to the gym.
The 2 year old & I are going to watch my son be Santa in his preschool program. And popping in on my daughter's Christmas party at school (last day!). Mondays are pajama days at our house - my son's favorite day - he'd wear his pajamas all the time if given the option. Happy baking!
It is a rainy day here and all my Christmas shopping is done. The only time I will venture out today will be a trip to the grocery tomorrow. Right now I am making some scarves out of old T-shirts.... sounds like something you would be doing 😉 Wrapping presents and an Advent craft are also on the agenda for today.
Just returned from delivering homemade cookies to all of our grocery store helpers. Making split pea and ham soup (to freeze and give). Making chicken stock to freeze and use. Listening to carols while my husband bakes bread (to give), and then I'll make jam (to freeze and give). Wrapping gifts while things rise and bubble, and taking care of a sick boy who is missing his school Christmas performance due to a high fever. A good day of making with love for those we love.
Well now that Emma finally went down for a nap I am going to shower, then chill a bit and then take a walk with her and some time on the playground then I may have to go the the Dollar Store and get some wrapping paper. No other plans beyond that.
Yay for naptime!
Looking at your nicely done toenails I thought I'd share!
Today the Hubby and Kids went visiting (his first day off for the hols) and I:
1. Had my haircut (again) it's now so short it doesn't move at the sides at all (My 3-year-old keeps asking why I have 'Boy hair')!
2. Cleaned the family bathroom which took me 90 minutes and it is now out of bounds to everyone! I was so proud of it I even photographed it and put it on my facebook page.
3. Had a professional pedicure (I used to have them monthly - but now twice yearly to reduce spend) so I now have nice toenails too 🙂
4. Took delivery of some tiny metal stamps with letters and numbers on them. I was giving up the ghost of getting them pre-christmas for my personalised clay gift tags - but they arrived - hurrah!
5. My second-hand Christmas patterned knitted bolero also arrived... again didn't think I'd be seeing that this side of the big day - but Royal Mail surprised me (and that doesn't happen often). Bit the bullet this year and purchased an item that I hope will last me a lifetime and mean I never have to decide what to wear on Christmas day again. At £6.50 it was a bargain!
Might have a night off cooking and get the Hubby to fetch some Fish & Chips, then get the clay out and get stuck in with the Kids...
Love to see a picture of your "new" knitted bolero! They deliver 2nd hand clothes? Amazing! Sounds like you deserve a night off! Merry Christmas! Cheeryshirley
It was an ebay purchase I'm afraid to say! Shame it wasn't a charity purchase! I'll definitely be photographing, along with the Hubby's Cheesy Christmas jumper... I'm rather excited as we invested in a Canon SLR (as recommended by Kristen) and have been playing around with it... Any excuse to take a photo at the moment!
ps - I ended up making pizza bagels... not too arduous though!
Jo ~ Soooo excited for you about your new SLR camera purchase! What fun! I'll be expecting tons of photos! 🙂 Merry Christmas, Cheeryshirley
This a.m. I am resting and just getting some small chores done. After lunch, I plan on a 40 minute ride on the exercise bike with a book. This afternoon, I go in to work at three and this evening me and my coworker are ordering Chinese food to celebrate together. A nice day.
I went out to breakfast with my friends. Picked up a last minute gift.
Now just staying home until I have to pick up my daughter at cheer practise. I will be cleaning, wraping and probably taking a break to read a little.
After work I will do some of the following, maybe even listed in priority order:
- wrap gifts
- buy wrapping paper (notice a conflict with #1)
- get started on Xmas dinner cooking
- take care of To Do item A
- take care of To Do item B
I don't really want to drive to the cheap store during evening rush hour a couple of days before Xmas. So I will either find alternate wrapping or, if I don't like the alternatives, pay for the convenience of drug store wrapping paper.
WilliamB ~ Kristen has some great gift wrapping ideas! You could even use pillowcases or towels? Anything to stay home and cozy! Merry Christmas! Cheeryshirley
I definitely vote for alternate wrapping! I hate going on errands like that. I'm positive you have something at your house that could save you from a miserable or expensive trip. 😉
It'll be gift bags and ribbon, most likely. But I thought that some wrapped boxes would provide nice variety. Year before last I managed penguin wrapping paper for a penguin-obsessed (adult) nephew. The paper itself was part of the gift.
I'm not going anywhere, at least this morning, by not by choice! My car is in the shop. Sigh. Not a merry Christmas gift.
It's kinda nice to be relaxing though before I go to work which will be crazy! (Kids + 2 days before Christmas + understaffed = chaos!)
Two more workdays and I've almost gotten everything rounded up before the holiday. One more set of projects to finish marking for my students and we're all square.
My last present was bought online yesterday and a bit of wrapping needs to be done tonight once the kiddo goes to sleep.
I've edited a lot of things down this year and am determined to focus on the message and not the madness. Next year, even more ruthless paring down.
Today I am at work, with nothing to do (except read blogs). I'll be leaving early and going home to let my dogs out and give them supper, then I'm going out for supper with my sister and my best friend! That's what makes this a good day for me.
Niice! I'd like to get paid for reading blogs. If only it were that way all year round.
It must be a track pants kind of day, because that's exactly what I'm wearing today too! The rainy days make it hard to want to get out of comfy clothes. 🙂
Cookie making may be on the horizon for us too, if I can decide which ones I want to make!
I'm picking up Kids early Today. CHRISTmas Vacation Starts (Winter Break the School Calls it, But It's ALWAYS gonna be CHRISTmas VAC.)
I'm gonna Attempt to make Butter Toffee Crunch... Again. Last Yr I made it, & it failed.
Going to look at CHRISTmas Lights tonight with my Father & GMa.
Merry CHRISTmas Everyone ! *
Hanakah started 2 days ago...it's not Merry CHRISTmas for everyone. Plus, winter started today! Hence, WINTER break.
(Merry Christmas to you, though)
I'm working until 4/4:30. . .
then trying to sneak in some present-wrapping
Oddly enough sewing...because I need to clear out the mess I left in the sewing/guest room...we're having a guest tonight.
I'm making homemade yogurt using raw millk. It will be done in just a few hours. I'm also working on some knitting. It's addicting and I really love it 😉 Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 🙂
We spent the day visiting with my husband's family in Kuwait. It's my hubby's first time back since the Gulf War of 1990, and his first time reuniting with his whole family. It was a good day, indeed!
Ambar, I am very sorry for your loss.
That sounds like the perfect day! I'm still at work... making lists of everything I need to do before Christmas. It's not pretty. 🙁
I am spending this horrible rainy dreary day cleaning house for this weekends family Christmas party and for the return of my husband, from his business trip tonight.
Although in hindsight it would have been better spent in pajama pants and a comfy shirt.
Last day of school before vacation for the kiddos, so I went to "game day" at my son's preschool and a Christmas sing-along with my 1st grader. My high school daughter's birthday was yesterday so we still have some housekeeping to do to get everything back in order. Cookies are in the oven--I think we're going to have left-overs for dinner tonight....tomorrow will be gingerbread house making.
My husband and I took his parents to visit an old friend who is on hospice care. They all had such a wonderful time reminiscing about old times. Please don't hesitate to visit those on hospice care. They appreciate it so much. My mom was on hospice care for 4 months and played a great game of Scrabble the day before she died. We loved every visit.
Lolling around, juicing and helping a mate after 6 pm. Yawn.
ah I missed this yesterday, as when I went to read your post, it wasn't up yet.
Yesterday i worked, picked up the kids, made them dinner,
got the kids ready for bed, Made stocking magnets out of the foam stuff for the kids in there class, and helped them do a craft... put them to bed, made two loaves of bannan bread for a work bday party today, then when to finish two sewing projects for xmas, put a lable on the quilt I made for Christmas, then I had a few min to relax before bed! phew.... I am tired all over again!
I'm impressed that A) you paint your toenails in the winter and B) it is warm enough for you to go barefoot in your house. My bare toes only see the light of day long enough to get in and out of the shower and then into my bed! So you can guess how outgrown my nailpolish is by December 22!
Hope you had a good day!
