All is well...
I don't have a post for today, but this is just to say that I'm fine!

I've just been busy with work and holiday stuff and also one other thing that I will tell you about tomorrow. 😉
My college girl is back in town for a few days, so yesterday we had our usual Christmas tea and also went to a Christmas symphony concert.
Today's also pretty packed, but I will make sure to get a regular post up tomorrow. 🙂
Enjoy the very slightly longer day today, everyone! (ok, everyone except Lindsey in Alaska. My condolences to her.)
(Not Lisey! Lisey is still in Hawaii!)

I saw your post and immediately thought, "And all manner of things shall be well." A nice reminder today, as I am flat on my back with a torn muscle in my leg. BOO. But Christmas is coming, and all shall be well. Enjoy your time with your daughters!
Ohhh no!! I am so sorry to hear about your muscle. And at such a time!
@kristin @ going country, oh no! What happened? I hope you have a speedy recovery.
@kristin @ going country, ouch!! But between your St. Julian of Norwich outlook and your capable and helpful husband and children, I hope that all manner of things shall be well.
@kristin @ going country,
Oh no! Prayers for speedy healing and a special, warm, if different, Christmas for you and your family.
@WilliamB, I think generally it's that I am now mid-40s and need to remember that, but specifically it was a series of events that culminated in a very painful event while I was mopping up water on the bathroom floor with my foot on a towel. So fitting that I should injure myself in a housecleaning event . . .
Ugh, that is not even a fun story. I feel like if you are flat on your back in bed, you should have a shockingly adventurous story.
My little brother broke his arm as a child from...tripping over a laundry basket. Ha. Equally uninteresting.
@A. Marie, They are being very helpful. My husband and eldest son were out of town when I actually hurt myself, but even my youngest children are old enough to be helpful now. I was quite sincerely thanking God that I don't have toddlers anymore.
@JD, It'll be mostly the same. Thank goodness I had done all the wrapping and organizing of gifts a couple of days before I hurt myself. So it just has to be transported to the tree/stockings Christmas Eve, and my husband can do that no problem. The organizing part I would be a lot harder for him. 🙂
@kristin @ going country,
Ouch! I hope you get better. I also need to remember my age before I have a mishap. At 70, I'm finding I don't need to be climbing on ladders anymore. There are a lot of things we need to quit doing as we get older. A lady at my church long ago warned us all (ladies of a certain age, ahem!) not to balance on one leg while shaving the other leg at the bathroom sink: she fell backwards doing this and was badly injured. She came to church looking like she'd been in a car wreck. Getting older is not for sissies!
@kristin @ going country, prayers for quick healing for you! And enjoy this different Christmas….. you’ll be receiving instead of doing all the giving!
@kristin @ going country, Sending you heartfelt wishes for a quicker recovery than you are thinking right now, I’m sure. Also, thank you for a very good cautionary tale involving something I might do, too. Merry Christmas to one of my very favorite commenters and your family.
@kristin @ going country, Ouch! I hope you feel better soon!
@kristin @ going country, You need to invent a more interesting story to give your injury a little pizazz. 😉 In all seriousness, rest and feel better soon!
@Karen A., Really I was facing off with a coyote and tore the muscle with a roundhouse kick to take it out at the legs as it lunged for a sheep. Better?
@kristin@going country,
There ya go! 🙂 The roundhouse kick is a nice touch.
Seriously, I join in with the rest of the Commentariat in hoping your torn muscle mends quickly!
@kristin @ going country, oh, no! I hope you have some good books to occupy your mind 🙂 And I hope you have a speedy recovery!
@kristin @ going country,
Don't feel bad,I stepped in a gopher hole that I knew was there and fractured my ankle.
Look up clumsy in the dictionary and there I'll be.LOL
Anyway, Merry Christmas ?
@kristin@going country, ooh, very good story. Although the imagery of trying to wipe the floor balancing on one foot with a towel clutched in the toes of the other, also seems good to me.
@kristin @ going country, thank you. Our family needs to embrace this thought.
Have a great time with the fam!
I'm in eastern Tennessee with some of my family. I thought of you when we were at Dollywood because Dolly's relentless positivity made me think of you.
She's a funny lady, too. She said that as soon as she graduated high school (first in her family to do so) she left town with her clothes in matching luggage: 3 paper bags form the same grocery.
@WilliamB, I had not thought of it, but Kristen does share many qualities with the amazing Dolly Parton.
@WilliamB,
ROTFL!
That reminds me of my dad's best friend, who used to quote another country singer as saying he grew up poor, eating jam sandwiches: two pieces of bread jammed together.
@WilliamB, thanks for sharing that funny story. Dolly is a gem! I love her positivity and self-deprecating style. She said of her looks: "It costs a lot of money to look this cheap!"
@MB in MN, that is hilarious!
Enjoy your days with family!
I must have missed something, because I thought Lisey was in Hawaii?
Oh yes, she is still there! You might be mixing up Lisey and Sonia. 🙂
@Kristen,
I see now - I mixed up Lisey and Lindsey!
Oh, oh, oh, with the daylight comment! Yes, Lindsey (not my child) is in Alaska and Lisey (my child. Ha.) is in Hawaii. 🙂
That is a very nice photo of two beautiful ladies out conquering the world! So glad you could have some quality time with your favorite college student. Actually, I guess I could say that's a photo of two beautiful college students, since you're taking BSN courses. Enjoy your visit, and Merry Christmas to all!
Happy Winter Solstice to everyone! So nice that you can enjoy some special Christmas season family time, Kristen. Enjoy! I am going to be traveling to see my own family very soon for the holiday, and I just can't wait!
Kristen,
Enjoy the time with your girls!! And your Christmas tea looks scrumptious!
What a gorgeous image of Sonia and you in velvet! You’ve begun one of the best Christmas seasons of your life. My DH and I both thought of you on the Solstice—and of Lindsey haha. We are soo glad that the days are lengthening.
Lovely picture of you both! I am home as well and am enjoying being a kid again for the week 😉 I had fun listening to ghost stories with my dad earlier!
What a pretty picture of you & Sonia. It reminds me of my side hustle when I was in college... I did odd jobs for a group of doctor's wives; any errand, grocery shopping, taking animals to vet check ups, car details, hauling husbands & kids to the airport...on and on. One Dr. always included me in Christmas brunch and the Nutcracker with the Oregon Symphony. So fun to get dressed up.
I spy blue skies which means more storm clean up for today here at the farm. It was dense fog when I did chores.
With the extra one second of daylight, I will be planting my beds of garlic and shallots.
Tomorrow is family basket delivery day. Can't wait!
Kristin at Going Country, rest! Let others do for you.
I still remember when I was eleven and my mom threw out her back Christmas week. I made the ham dinner. Instead of rolls, I made biscuits, we all survived.
Good for you for taking time off from blogging. Keep having fun with your loved ones. I love the idea of a Christmas tea. ?
Aww, whatever your one more thing is, it’s clearly making you very happy! I’m glad you are doing well!
Kristen, that's a very pretty top you have on.
I think I missed something.....so Lisey is no longer in Hawaii but in Alaska??
@Luann, Lisey is in Hawaii, Reader/Commenter Lindsey is in Alaska.
@Luann, Lisey (Kristen's daughter) is still in Hawaii. Lindsey (the blog reader) is (still) in Alaska.
This assortment of random thoughts is one of my favorite types of posts to read. Thank you for letting us peek into your life, share your happiness, and be worry free about your well-being!
Love both color dresses. Black and white are so hard to branch away from. Love that you did. Giving us all inspiration!
