This is very weird.

Sorry-this is related to potty training again. I can’t help myself.

Another week’s worth of sale ads are out, and my main store is advertising a deal on diapers. It took me a minute to realize that I actually don’t need to worry about catching that sale. What a lovely realization. I’ve been buying diapers for 9 years straight(well, it’ll be nine years on September 2nd, when my firstborn turns nine), and it’s really strange to not have to think about buying a bunch more.

Zoe’s doing great with the potty training as far as peeing goes, but until today we weren’t having much of any success with doing anything else on the potty. Today was different, though…she actually initiated a trip to her potty chair to do her more solid business. We lavished her with praise and adulation and threw in a Twizzler to boot, so hopefully she will repeat the performance. She’s been mostly dry at naps and nearly dry many nights too, so I’m vaguely optimistic that the box of diapers I bought right before I started potty training her will be my last box. Even if it’s not, and we end up having to use one diaper every night, I’m still only going to have to think about buying diapers every couple of months and that’s pretty tolerable.

So far, I’ve saved myself $17.76 worth of diapers. That’s nearly a whole box of Luvs that I haven’t had to buy or throw in the trash, and that makes me feel quite cheerful.

Hopefully if I do that I'll at least keep my receipt. =P

Don't be surprised if you actually buy a box of diapers on auto-pilot - or at least drop them into your shopping cart. Our brains LUV ruts!! When i finished graduate school, after 15 long years of night school while working full-time & doing undergrad & grad school, i actually had to set up a pile of novels at my old "homework spot," because i found myself going there with the vague idea that i had homework to do & should get to work. I would find myself standing there, feeling puzzled. :)

Oh, Meg...I send you my sympathies. I loathe potty training so much. Hopefully we'll both be done with it soon, though!

Speaking as someone in the midst of this process with my son right now, I will cheer right along with you. Yay!!! Nine years is a darn long time to be shelling out for diapers. Seeing an end in sight deserves a celebration. :)
