Handmade Soap Giveaway (from Third Day Naturals)

Hello there, readers!

Today's giveaway is the first in a series of three that I'll be running. All three giveaways are from small businesses that make their products by hand, and I wanted to squeeze all of them in here quickly before you're done with your gift shopping!

Though there's a place for large corporations, I suppose, I really like to support small businesses whenever I can, and I know a lot of you do too. So, hopefully you'll be delighted to learn more about these three small companies.

Today, I've got a give away from Third Day Naturals, a handmade soap company.

Third Day soaps are hand-made by a family that lives in Hudson Valley, New York.

Why should you buy soap from Third Day?

Well, Third Day soaps are made with completely natural ingredients, such as shea butter, avocado oil, and coconut oil.

They're free of phthalates and parabens, and are made with essential oils, not fragrance oils.

And since most of their soaps are vegetable-based, you can happily use them if you're a vegan.

The soaps come wrapped in recyclable or compostable paper, and each bar has a recyclable or compostable cardboard sleeve around it. So, they're quite lovely on the trash production front (woo!)

Since the bars are handmade, they have a charmingly non-commercial look to them.

And they smell amazing! So fragrant. You know how sometimes artificially scented soap and body wash smell kind of...artificial? Since these are made with essential oils, they smell completely authentic.

Third Day soaps come in six different fragrances, like Peppermint Tea Tree Oil, Pink Grapefruit, and Citrus. To help you decide which is your favorite, Third Day offers a sampler pack, which contains six small bars-one for each scent.

(The sampler pack ships for free, which is a nice bonus.)

The sampler comes with a handy-dandy reference card, so you know which bar you're using.

So far, our favorites are the Citrus and the Evergreen (it smells just like a Christmas tree!)

Third Day wants you guys to be able to try their soaps, so they're giving away a set of two full-sized soap bars to two of you. You can use them yourself or give them to someone on your gift list.

This giveaway will close at midnight EST on Monday, December 10th. At that point, two winners will be randomly chosen.

  3. Love this kind of giveaway (can you do more of these throughout the year?). I never use body wash because of all the added junk in it, and the suds just never seem to go away. I always use bar soap, and the more natural, more homemade? The better.

    Honestly all the smells sound delectable! And I'd happily wash with any of them 😉

  16. These sound wonderful! As long as there's no lanolin (the oil from sheep's wool, gathered-so to speak-during wool processing for yarn), we can use it. My daughter and I are allergic to lanolin... We also can't wear wool anything, and I can't use wool yarn in my knitting or crocheting because of the residual lanolin.

  18. I love the peppermint scent. I've been using handmade bathing soaps for a couple years now. They are very fragrant and make nice amounts of lather but don't leave all that extra soap on the shower floor like body wash always did. And they are pretty cheap compared to body wash.

  21. Lavender-oatmeal type of person. Shall have to try the sampler. And one day coordinate with my distant SIL to have her teach me now to make soap - I have 10 lbs of lard I can't figure a good use for.

  33. It's definitely a toss-up between the peppermint and citrus scent. Peppermint is soooooo calming for me and helps with my migraines, but citrus is my "go-to" pick-me-up scent!

  43. For me, it would definitely be the Pink Grapefruit. There's just something about grapefruit that's so refreshing!

  47. I LOVE homemade soap, so I had a hard time making a decision on which I would want to try. (I might have to get a sampler pack.) Given the choice, the citrus sounds refreshing, and my husband would probably like it over some of the other scents too.

  58. Pink grapefruit sounds great! I have very sensitive skin, so I get nervous about switching from my tried and true soaps, but I like the natural sound of this company.

  78. I would love the peppermint tea tree! My only question - would it be wrong that I smell like my spray cleaner?! Those are the two EOs I usually put in my all purpose spray cleaner 🙂 I love using handmade soaps!

  173. These sound really good. My choices are Pink Grapefruit and Peppermint Tea Tree. We've ordered from a handmade soap place in northern California and really enjoy using their soaps, too.

Our family struggles with eczema and allergies...I have been slowly cleaning up our insides with a gluten-free and grain-free diet, but, alas, a few of our kiddos STILL have some lingering eczema and rashes. I have been told that natural soaps, free of parabens and phthalates and such can really make a difference! After reading about these handmade soaps, I would really like to give them a try! The peppermint scent and the lavender oatmeal scent sound the best to me!

  222. Loved reading about this site and the natural soaps. I love the lavender scent as it tends to be relaxing (and I have a job as a supervisor at a company that I LOVE, but oh! can it be stressful at times--lavender oils to the rescue), so that is what I would pick!

  252. I would love to try one of these soaps, my daughter has eczema , so we have tried a number of different things, including coconut oil and avocado oil...and I've heard that tea tree oil is supposed to be good for you as well, who knows maybe it would help?
