Grocery Spending and Menu Plan

Here’s my produce, except for the watermelon. I do categorize watermelon as produce, but for some reason, it didn’t end up in the appropriate picture!

Fresh produce from a grocery shopping trip.

The watermelon and everything else:

Groceries arranged on the floor.

I also got two gallons of milk from the farm, which cost $7. Then I spent $38.89 at Aldi, and $35.76 at Weis. Happily, along with my receipt at Weis I also got two coupons for $1 off my next order (for buying the deodorant) and a coupon for two free cups of Yoplait yogurt on my next trip.

That’s $81.65, which is $18.35 under budget. I also have $11.58 from last week, which means I have $29.93 extra for the moment. This is good news because I need to buy quite a few things from Costco, and that is always a big initial outlay.

For breakfast this week we’ll be eating yogurt, granola, toast, and cereal (not all at the same time!). Lunches will be yogurt smoothies, bread, fruit, raw veggies, and leftovers.

Here’s what we’ll be eating this week at dinnertime.

Saturday

  • Grilled Bratwurst
  • watermelon
  • maybe some corn on the cob

Sunday

Monday

  • We might be going out on a date again! I don’t think we’ve ever gone on two dates this close together, but it looks like the babysitting might work out, and we have a Buy One, Get One Free coupon to use at TGIF.

Tuesday

  • Chicken and Bacon wraps
  • Balsamic Vegetable salad

Wednesday

  • Garlic Shrimp Pasta
  • English Muffin Bread
  • whatever produce needs to be used up…this is the day before grocery shopping

Thursday

  • Roast Beef Paninis
  • Fruit salad
  • Zucchini Patties

Friday

This is the best idea. I really need to meal plan better. I would really like to do a monthly meal plan...

Like the way your produce looks. Why do you have a number of stuffed animals in your pix?
