Getting started is the hardest part, right?
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I post a picture and just a few words.
Well, Joshua and I started.

We actually are going to get this bed painted and installed in his room this summer, I think.

Joshua's 52 Project post: Timeworn

I agree! Getting started is the hardest part of any project! But the feeling of accomplishment is so great, once it is complete!
I get so distracted! With me I can get started but then have to remember not to deviate.
For example I was typing up today's blog post about 'making time to declutter' when your post pinged through. Ended up reading yours instead! But did drop this link into mine! Really need to go back and hit publish.
Can't wait to see the finished product! Any tips on painting?
Yup! This is the method I always use when I paint furniture: https://www.thefrugalgirl.com/2009/03/how-to-paint-wooden-furniture/
Any tips for efficiently stripping paint from round surfaces? I want to strip & repaint some chairs, and the backs are dowels (rather than something rectangular or a solid surface). I'm not looking forward to the time that'll take.
I'm not Hannah, but I usually use a loose piece of sandpaper, wrap it around the dowel, and wiggle it back and forth, holding the two ends of the sandpaper.
That sounds way more confusing than it is!
It's so hard for me to finish things! But we finally finished our latest project and posted it on my blog--a coffee table 🙂
"Well begun is half done."
My front door needs repainting. I need to figure out if I can do the job myself or not. I'm sure I'd hate the presumably high cost of hiring someone, but neitehr do I want my house without a front door for more than a single day. The idea of buying a second door to hang while I'm working on the good one, has crossed my mind.
Suggestions very welcome.
I've thought about painting my front door too and have run into the same issue. Do you work on it for a day, rehang it overnight, and then work on it some more the next day?
I hadn't thought of that idea. As long as the primer or paint is reasonably dry, although would you have to keep reattaching the hardware and lock?
The critical information is, how long does each step take?
- strip paint (chemical or sander?)
- prime
- paint and let dry (times two)
The owners who write the Old Town Home blog made door (almost from scratch!) could not be rehung overnight. But they have two sets in their entryway so there was always a lockable door in place.
