For those of you who asked….my camera equipment.

Since I’ve been posting nothing but pictures for the last week and a half, a number of you have asked what kind of camera I have.

The body of my camera is an entry-level DSLR, the Canon Rebel XT. I have the lens that comes with the camera (a kit lens), and I also own two other lenses ( a 50mm/1.4 and a 24-70 L series). The lion’s share of the pictures from our vacation were taken with my 50mm 1.4 lens simply because it is smaller and easier to haul around on the beach but a number of the sunny pictures on the beach were taken with my L lens.

There are lots of wonderful things about the 50mm lens, but the best thing about it is that it is very, very fast, which allows me to shoot nice pictures without the flash even in very low light (like in a bowling alley).

I’ve done a few posts in the past about photography, and you can always access those by browsing the Photography category here on the blog. I plan to add to that category intermittently in the future as well, so stay tuned. 😉

So excited to see what someone else can do with the camera I've owned for a while! I'm currently trying to sign up for a class at a local shop over the summer. Do you use an external flash? I've very interested in the 50mm lens, especially if it cuts down on the bulk...but I wasn't sure what you did about lighting.

Thanks! ~SDS

Nope, so far I have no external flash equipment (except the on-board flash, which I never use). I think it would be fun to have a bounce flash, but I haven't been willing to fork over the cash yet. lol

Gorgeous photos of a gorgeous family! Your eye for photos is amazing, and I feel like *I* am on vacation when I take a few minutes to sit back and enjoy the photos. Thanks so much for sharing them with us.

I'm so glad to see how much you are enjoying your vacation. (And I'm a bit jealous, too :-)
