Eco-Friendly T-Shirt and Bag Giveaway | Dandelion Dream

Dandelion Dream should be no stranger to faithful Frugal Girl readers, since we’ve done several giveaways together!

Dandelion Dream is run by my friend Erin, who is a lovely person and also a talented artist. She carves her own designs to make stamps and then uses these stamps to print the designs onto fair-trade t-shirts and bags.

The VW bus shirts she makes are a huge favorite with my girls…they promptly wear them every single time I wash ‘em!

Erin started Dandelion Dream because she and her husband are in the process of adopting a baby girl from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is a very dangerous nation for girls and women. Adoption, as you probably know, is an extremely expensive process, and the proceeds from Dandelion Dream go towards the adoption of Erin’s little girl.

In November, Erin and her husband got super exciting news! They finally received a referral for their baby girl, and they’re quite over the moon.

Now, they’ve still got quite a bit of money to raise to complete their adoption. However, Erin has realized recently that her son is in a stage of life where he needs more focused attention, so she’s winding down Dandelion Dream for now.

She’s still got inventory that she needs to sell, though, and of course, the proceeds from the sales will go towards the adoption expenses.

So, please do go check out what she’s got in her shop! The shirts and bags are great and you’ll be supporting a really special cause.

Would love the women’s shirt and bag…but would find someone to share the onesie with. My prayers will be with Erin and family.

  2. Dayle says

I’d love the onsie and bag… seems all my friends are having babies… all the best to your friend with the adoption :) …Dayle

  3. AJCoombs says

Oh I love her designs! And being that I don’t have a baby for the onesie I would get a shirt. :)

  4. Tina Ray says

I am sitting in a deer blind right now and it is ironic you should have a deer bag on your blog. Also, we just received a new grandson last Monday. It is sure a delight how the Lord works. If I was to win, I would choose the bag and onesie.

  5. Rachel says

Yay for babies! And I always love seeing her stuff on your blog–she makes such unique and fun products!

  6. says

Nice bags. I have enough regular batteries to almost fill one! Does anyone know where to recycle regular batteries? I tried Battery Warehouse and they said “We just throw them in the trash”. The battery recycle programs at Lowes and Home Depot is only for rechargeable Lithium Ion or something. I hate to just throw them into the regular trash because they go to the dump and all those yucky poisonous metals seep down into our drinking water. Which we keep on being told is bad for babies, children and even us adults, but there does not seem to be anywhere to dispose of them responsibly. Help?

    • Alecia says

Someone once told me IKEA or check your local town hall for their battery recycle policies. Good luck!

  7. Kim W says

Erin’s designs are adorable. My daughters would love to find something Erin made under the tree!

  8. Anne Weber-Falk says

OH, while I’m glad that she is able to devote more time to her family, I will miss her clothing line. My daughters really like them too.

  9. Emily Hollerbach says

She has really cool stuff! I would love to win the bag and onesie – I have a 7 month old.

  10. Kelly says

Thanks for the recommendation, I ordered a onesie for my friend who is due next week! Great stuff, and best wishes for bringing home the baby girl.

  11. Molly F. C. says

What a lovely person your friend is, a beautiful family. Hope that the wait for their precious daughter goes quickly.

  12. Suzanne Peckham says

Go Erin! We adopted our “baby girl” from China in 2000! Carly is now a beautiful 13 year old! I want to order a VW Bus t-shirt for her for Christmas!
    Good Luck and God Speed!

  13. sossity says

i would love one. and good for you for adoption!! all of my family members have adopted children, they are a blessing.

  14. Betsy says

Erin does beautiful work and it’s such a fabulous cause! All the best to her throughout the adoption process.

  15. robbiekay says

David, the first place I go to when I’m not sure where/if I can recycle something that isn’t taken curbside (luckily, I can recycle batteries both curbside and at work) is earth911.com.

Congratulations to Erin! We would have loved to have adopted, but have been unsuccessful in finding an agency that will work with us at our age.

I especially love the VW bus shirts. Whenever you post a photo of your girls wearing theirs, I’m always so envious! I purchased something similar at Portland’s Saturday Market, but when I got it home it was a bit too small, so I had to set it aside to return it and now I have no idea what my husband did with my returns box.

Thanks, again, Kristen (and Erin!) for the chance to enter a great giveaway.

  16. Amanda says

Our city recently banned plastic bags in grocery stores, so I can always use more reusable bags! So cute, too!

  17. Lauren M. says

Love these shirts & bags. And even moreso, I love adoption! So glad that Erin’s family’s journey is moving along! :)

All the best to Erin and her family. I will visit her site and see if I can pick something up. Thanks to you both.

  20. Lyn says

Congratulations on you new Baby Girl Erin. Blessings and prosperity be yours now and in the future. I am so sorry I am unable to make a purchase at this time. I would love to help you out, but my 5-year-old granddaughter is living with me now and my funds go to support her. May the future hold nothing but good things for you and your family!!

  21. says

I’d LOVE the baby onesie and bag. My close friend has a baby girl that was a preemie. She’s just now getting a little size on her. She’d look SUPER cute in it!

  22. says

That VB t-shirt is to die for! And what a great cause for the money to go, being able to adopt their little girl. Thanks for sharing.

  23. says

I hope that their family is happy and healthy and soon to be larger! (and I would gladly take a shirt if there happens to be an extra one lying around)

Best of Luck with your adoption. Look forward to hearing the updates through FG! And would, of course, love a reindeer bag and shirt!

  34. Tiara says

    Erin,
I remember your work from last year, and although I didn’t have the money to purchase anything at the time, it inspired me to reuse/recycle some of our old clothes…it makes my heart glad to not be wasteful. Also, adopting from another country like Congo is a great reminder of how good we really have it here in America, and really we are just one tiny spec in this enormous yet beautiful world God has made. Thank you for being one to remember the lost and answer the call to save one of His little ones…
    Tiara

  35. joyce says

I do like following her journey to adopt her Lainey. I hope she still writes once in a while. I would love to win either. I also have a VW bus shirt, but it’s my husband as he actually owned one of those in his younger years.

  36. Debra Childers says

    Dear Erin,
Many blessings upon the life of the little one you will soon embrace in person, I know you have carried this dream in your heart and imagination for many months. My daughter Christa will travel to Uganda in February to bring home her son and daughter. In this time of waiting we pray for these new family members. May God richly bless you for your sacrifice and your courage, and bring your family together soon. As you can imagine, anything I may “win” will find a good home, as we live to share our blessings with others.
    Merry Christmas

  37. cruzermama says

I love the shirts, especially the VW bus (I used to have one of those!) and the bicycle (which is my current mode of transportation).

  42. Donna says

I love following this story. Sending prayers and best wishes to Erin’s beautiful and growing family. Thanks for the chance.

  43. Marissa Andaloro says

Hi Kristen. I would love to win these. My best friend is having a baby, so I could give her the onesie. Thank you!

  44. Dawn Fritzsch says

I love this bag! What a great design. We live “in the woods”, so my kids are very interested/aware of the local deer. One of my daughters is a bag person and the other surely could use the t-shirt, as she is rapidly growing into my grown-up sized clothes. We would be appreciative and also understand how a change of life for Erin brings about the positive for everyone, especially for her & her family! Best wishes, Dawn

  45. Chrissy says

I have a friend who’d love the onesie and I’d love the reindeer bag. I appreciate a woman with priorities.
