Dandelion Dream should be no stranger to faithful Frugal Girl readers, since we've done several giveaways together!

Dandelion Dream is run by my friend Erin, who is a lovely person and also a talented artist. She carves her own designs to make stamps and then uses these stamps to print the designs onto fair-trade t-shirts and bags.

The VW bus shirts she makes are a huge favorite with my girls...they promptly wear them every single time I wash 'em!

Erin started Dandelion Dream because she and her husband are in the process of adopting a baby girl from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is a very dangerous nation for girls and women. Adoption, as you probably know, is an extremely expensive process, and the proceeds from Dandelion Dream go towards the adoption of Erin's little girl.

In November, Erin and her husband got super exciting news! They finally received a referral for their baby girl, and they're quite over the moon.

Now, they've still got quite a bit of money to raise to complete their adoption. However, Erin has realized recently that her son is in a stage of life where he needs more focused attention, so she's winding down Dandelion Dream for now.

She's still got inventory that she needs to sell, though, and of course, the proceeds from the sales will go towards the adoption expenses.

So, please do go check out what she's got in her shop! The shirts and bags are great and you'll be supporting a really special cause.

  12. I am sitting in a deer blind right now and it is ironic you should have a deer bag on your blog. Also, we just received a new grandson last Monday. It is sure a delight how the Lord works. If I was to win, I would choose the bag and onesie.

  21. Nice bags. I have enough regular batteries to almost fill one! Does anyone know where to recycle regular batteries? I tried Battery Warehouse and they said "We just throw them in the trash". The battery recycle programs at Lowes and Home Depot is only for rechargeable Lithium Ion or something. I hate to just throw them into the regular trash because they go to the dump and all those yucky poisonous metals seep down into our drinking water. Which we keep on being told is bad for babies, children and even us adults, but there does not seem to be anywhere to dispose of them responsibly. Help?

    1. Someone once told me IKEA or check your local town hall for their battery recycle policies. Good luck!

  52. David, the first place I go to when I'm not sure where/if I can recycle something that isn't taken curbside (luckily, I can recycle batteries both curbside and at work) is earth911.com.

    Congratulations to Erin! We would have loved to have adopted, but have been unsuccessful in finding an agency that will work with us at our age.

    I especially love the VW bus shirts. Whenever you post a photo of your girls wearing theirs, I'm always so envious! I purchased something similar at Portland's Saturday Market, but when I got it home it was a bit too small, so I had to set it aside to return it and now I have no idea what my husband did with my returns box.

    I remember your work from last year, and although I didn't have the money to purchase anything at the time, it inspired me to reuse/recycle some of our old clothes...it makes my heart glad to not be wasteful. Also, adopting from another country like Congo is a great reminder of how good we really have it here in America, and really we are just one tiny spec in this enormous yet beautiful world God has made. Thank you for being one to remember the lost and answer the call to save one of His little ones...

  186. I love this bag! What a great design. We live "in the woods", so my kids are very interested/aware of the local deer.
