Thankful Thursday: Sweatshirt Weather
This week, I am thankful:
for the cool weather
I love snuggling up under my covers at night! I love not being sweaty!
And I'm thrilled to be wearing sweatshirts again.

I'm grateful when it's any season besides summer. 😉
that my most recent chemistry test was not math-y
This one happened to be very low on calculations and very high on concept questions. I do understand the concepts, but man, I hate the math.
So, yay for a little math reprieve!
for 50 mpg
I have been keeping an eye on my gas mileage and this week, I hit 50 mpg for the first time!

I love my little car. 🙂
for the interesting job that blogging is
I was looking at my camera roll, full of candy pictures from the Top Five, Bottom Five post I did.

And then a little further back, there's my perusal of the Tightwad Gazette.

And my popcorn bag curling ribbon attempts:

That made me think about what a fun and interesting little job it is to be a blogger; one day I'm photographing candy in a store, another day I'm making curling ribbons out of a chip bag. I get to do quite a wide variety of things in the name of writing blog posts. 🙂
that after this week, there are seven weeks left
I cannot quite count this week as done because I have some homework to do tomorrow...but after that, only seven more weeks of school left until winter break.
that I felt a little funky after my second HepB shot
Generally, the slightly sick feeling you get after a shot is a result of your immune system kicking in (immune responses feel pretty crummy!)
Sooo, I am hopeful that maybe, just maybe, this means I am actually building some HepB antibodies.
Not only would I like to qualify for clinicals, but I also would like to be immune, since HepB is shared through blood, and I do deal with blood at my job.

Thankful for:
*Cooler nights. I love curling up under a pile of blankets.
* Helpful kids. One son vacuumed upstairs spontaneously. Another took dishes out without being asked. I won't talk about the clothes on the floor...
*Teachers and bus drivers who care. There was a weird little mixup this week-my daughter packed the parts for our dryer repair into her backpack, teacher found them, let me know, put them back in the backpack, but the parts didn't make it home. The next day, after texting back and forth, the teacher and bus driver found them in the bus garbage can. They didn't have to do this for me. So grateful, especially as the dryer just gave up yesterday and we really need those parts!
*Anti-viral medications. I got shingles in and around my eye, but the meds worked quickly so I did not suffer long.
*Cats and hot showers.
It is making me giggle that your daughter put the dryer repair parts in her backpack. Sometimes as a parent you wonder..."why????"
Ay, shingles, hope you will fully mend soon!
Also thankful for the wonderful autumn weather.
For the eight of nine siblings that are like friends to me. (The ninth has cut herself from the family.)
That my two sons love the symphony and want to attend with me. And that there is a fantastic venue so close to home.
And so, so thankful that I finally got to retire at the beginning of this month. It's a whole new world.
Woohoo for retirement! And for a symphony!
Variety is the spice of life and I was amused to read the heated discussions yesterday on the best no-chocolate sweets.
I was updating my resume this week and on looking back I am so thankful for all the interesting projects I was involved in over the past decades. They got me in touch with fascinating organisations and wonderful coworkers. And they taught me a lot about myself. It is my firm conviction that whatever you learn in your job, you will apply in your personal life, and vice versa. My favourite assignments have always been the ones that I marked with "I learned so much".
Thankful this week for my winter duvet, because it is getting cold at night. Our cat is creeping closer to her human hot water bottles.
Thankful also for the mix of dry days and necessary showers.
For garbage collection. I am always relieved when the containers are empty again and I recall being worried during covid that there might be a pause in garbage collection (especially since we were decluttering and reorganizing our home a lot at the time!)
For our trash picking coordinators who always manage to make the "events" fun.
For general good health and energy, although I am always somewhat less productive in the dark months.
