Thankful Thursday: I passed!

You guys, I passed my chemistry class!!!!

happy Kristen.

I took my last two exams yesterday, and I am DONE. I can't believe it. When I hit "submit" on that two-hour final (which did indeed take me almost two hours!) and saw that I passed, I almost cried with relief. Whewwwwww!

I have spent almost every spare minute these last three weeks working through a semester's worth of modules and tests, and I am thrilled that I will get so much of my life back now.

happy Kristen.

Also, yay me that I finished it all before having to pay for another month of a StraighterLine subscription. 😉

I would definitely not recommend StraighterLine for any course where you are actually going to need to use the information in the future (Anatomy and Physiology for nursing students, as an example). It's really just not an ideal way to thoroughly learn material.

Also, there were definitely a number of errors and glitches, such as the one in the photo below.

straighterline broken image.
This makes me giggle, because ummmm, how am I supposed to know???

But for a subject that, for me, is just a hoop to jump through, the experience was ok.

And it is behind me now. Oh my goodness, I am so happy! I am going to cheerfully recycle all of my chemistry notes (or maybe I will burn them).

Ok, so, aside from that, this week I am thankful:

that next week looks to be more pleasant

So far this week, I have survived colonoscopy prep, finished my chemistry class, and also, it's that time of the month. How many more un-fun things could I squeeze into a few short days???

Next week is looking like a major upgrade from this one! And I am so thankful to have some of these unpleasant things behind me now.

for beautiful fall colors

Forever and always a fan of fall!

that my new one-credit class looks pretty easy

I was short one credit for graduating in the spring, so I am taking a little eight-week, one-credit class about health and nutrition in fitness. It started this week, and the homework looks pretty dang easy.

Also, some of this testable material is stuff that I already know really well...like how many calories are in a gram of carbs, protein, alcohol, and fat (4, 4, 7, and 9!).

Soo, I don't think this one is going to eat up too much of my time.

that there are only about six weeks left in the semester

The community college semester ends a week after my BSN school, but I'm pretty sure I can work ahead and finish those two classes the same week my BSN school ends.

So, I'm going with the idea that I have six weeks left. 🙂

for my volunteering friends

My two nursing school study buddies invited me to go volunteer at a medical tent for a marathon, and I said yes because it is always fun to hang out with them.

I was very glad to be in the medical tent (mostly dispensing Icy Hot!) instead of running.

for Chiquita's everywhere-ness

I'm not sure there's a square inch in this house where she hasn't been.

Her favorite place is usually wherever I am. However, she has had to be shut out of my office several times lately for chemistry tests. 😉

What are you thankful for this week?

  1. You did it (again!) Kristen! Well done you. I hope you will pamper yourself.
    Isnt't it incredible how quickly we are moving towards the Christmas holidays?

    On Sunday, our choir will be singing in a ceremony for people who passed away in the last year. We lost two people from our midst ourselves and that makes the music all the more meaningful.

    This week's thankfuls:
    For warm memories, and sharing them;
    That your grown children love to spend time with us and each other;
    For the friendships that can grow from shared interests and activities;
    For a friendly chat on the train with a complete stranger, rather than being absorbed by our phones;
    For the beauty of autumn colours;
    For the taste of chocolate; I've decided I will treat myself on some chocolate this weekend. Probably watching Coco.

  2. Congratulations! Six weeks to go, hurray!
    I am grateful for:
    - dry weather - I don't mind the rain too much (which is good, because I live in Cornwall) but I am delighted to have a few dry sunny days this week where I can enjoy being outside.
    - finding a pizza mix that really works after many trials and experiments that have just been 'meh' (also shout out to the air fryer which I am still loving, two months after buying - probably my best purchase of the year)
    - being offered some more freelance work - I only started freelancing for this company a few months ago (and it was my first bit of freelancing in this field) so I'm delighted both that they've thought I was good enough to offer more work to, and that this will bring in some much-needed money!
    - that we finally now have some (tentative) dates for moving house - this is a Very Big Deal for me and my partner, so fingers crossed!
    - this is a nerdy one, but I'm really glad I took the time yesterday to schedule my work trips for 2027 (in my main job) and also my annual leave plans for 2027 (yippee!). It's the earliest I've ever done it, but I feel so peaceful knowing exactly what's coming up! I have finally accepted in my 30s (post autism diagnosis) that I am personally happiest with a hermit life where I have a routine, and genuinely, this has been the most relaxing year of my life (even with moving stress) as a result.
