Some things that are making me happy
It'll probably be a happy/grateful mash-up this time around.
Insurance is giving us a fair price for Joshua's car.
(Just so you know, I got Joshua's permission to tell you it was his wreck. I didn't want to share that without making sure it was ok with him. He wasn't being careless and wasn't on his phone; it's just a spot on the road that backs up suddenly sometimes, and I almost rear-ended someone in that same spot six months ago despite my decades of driving experience. Stuff happens, you know?)
Joshua is fine, which is what matters most.
But the car is totaled, which is a major bummer because it was a great car that would have lasted for a lot more miles. And really, ¾ of the car was perfectly fine after the accident!

But once airbags deploy, you know how that goes.
We paid $6500 for the car over two years ago, and the insurance company is giving us $5900 for it. I feel like that's super fair, and Mr. FG and I were both shocked since our experiences in the past with other companies have been full of low-ball quotes.
Erie has been GREAT.
This is the first time we've had to place a claim with car insurance since we've had Erie, and I have no complaints at all. We got a quote on Joshua's car less than 48 hours after the accident, they got us a rental car the same day of the accident, the assigned adjuster actually answers his phone (so many don't, in my experience with other companies!)...and the best thing of all:
Our $1000 deductible was waived because the person Joshua hit was also insured by Erie, and apparently that means no deductible!
So, I just need to get everyone who drives in the vicinity of my children to sign up with Erie insurance, and then we'll be good to go. 😉
Lisey's car is getting fixed and it's going to be pretty affordable.
During a windstorm, a basketball hoop blew over and landed on her car, denting it and scraping the paint off down to the bare metal.
Luckily, our deductible for this type of thing is only $250 (it's a $1500 repair), and the body shop my car-savvy brother-in-law recommended is a preferred shop for Erie! Her car is now in the shop for the week, and we have another rental car through insurance.
So at the moment, our house has two mid-size SUVs from Enterprise parked in the driveway. It feels a little weird!
I've been getting to know my Erie agents so well this past week. 😉 They are very nice, but I hope I get to stop talking to them so much very soon.
(Incidentally, the car Lisey drives is an older model and none of us, including her, really care about it cosmetically. But bare metal rusts, so this is an issue of maintenance, not beauty. We don't want the car to have a spreading rust issue.)
My brother and sister-in-law gave me a huge rose bouquet.
It's my 40th birthday later this week, so they gave me 40 of these beautiful roses.
So sweet.
I got to snuggle my smallest niece.
She was baptized on Sunday, and I came to take some photos of her adorable self.
It's finally gotten warmer!
Almost every day in the long-range forecast is in the 60s or low 70s, which is a big improvement over what we've had up to this point.
We're going to finish up school in four weeks.
Sonia and Zoe will be done with their homeschool stuff right around the time Joshua and Lisey finish their college classes, so there will be a pretty nice exhale around here soon.

Alrighty. I think that's a long enough list for me!
Want a little attitude boost? Share your own happy things in the comments!
P.S. Because this always, always, always bears repeating on the internet, which is full of highlight reels: just because I can make a list of happy things does not mean that everything in my life is happy (I mean, my son totaled his car and a basketball hoop fell on my daughter's car. Ha.), nor does it mean that everything works out hunky-dory for me either. Everyone's life is full of ups and downs, including mine.

Glad to hear about Eerie giving you a good shake. Someone totaled my car years ago and I was also afraid of getting low-balled but Allstate did me really well. I'm still with them, but to be honest I know I can get lower rates so am considering either calling and haggling or going with someone else.
Your niece is adorable!
Try calling them to see what could be done to lower your rate. We have had amazing luck with them but we felt like we were paying more than average for our coverage so we called and were able to lower our rate a fair amount. Still think we are probably paying about $50 more a year than we could get but having the same agent for 20 some years now is worth it because that personal connection has really helped.
1) We actually had spring-like weather for at least the first half of my sons' spring break. This is never guaranteed in the north country, and it was so nice for them to be able to go outside and play without anyone getting cold/wet/needing more layers. Plus, blood-sucking bug season hasn't started yet. Yay.
2) We took a whole-family day trip into the Adirondack mountains yesterday. The weather was great, we found a good spot to have a picnic where the boys could run like wild things, everyone had fun, and there were no major mishaps. Well, except my middle son falling in a stream, but then we just got to have the International Flag of Wet Children waving out the car windows as we drove. (You know what I mean, right? When you roll the windows up on the drying clothes so they can hang out and dry in the wind? Yeah.)
3) The elimination diet I've been doing has led me to discover that I actually like my coffee black with just a little bit of maple syrup, as opposed to with lots of milk and a little white sugar. I may never go back to that.
4) Our very old dog can once again snooze under the spruce trees outside instead of being stuck in the house with rampaging boys tripping over her nose and waking her up. It makes me happy to see her happy.
5) I ordered this odd self-massage contraption for my husband on my dad's recommendation, and my husband loves it. He often gets knots in his back and neck from office work that my weak hands can't even begin to help, so this is a great thing for both him and me.
#3, I started drinking my coffee black because I would rather eat sugar(cookies, cakes, ice cream) than drink it. I almost never have sweet drinks anymore.
Sugar combined with flour and butter is really the best. 😉
This is one of the reasons I love this blog... you are able to find a silver lining ( or sliver) in your situations! Bad stuff is going to happen....things are not always going to go your way.. but not all things are bad...all the time!
Yes, this is so true! Nothing is all good or all bad...it's always a mixture.
Your niece is so cute!! I'm glad the insurance gave you such a fair amount back. As long as no one was hurt would have been good enough too.
Omg those roses! They look like dessert. I never buy flowers for myself but as gift I don't feel bad (they're super unfrugal haha). Happy 40th!
Yep...the well being of the people involved is the most important thing! It's sad that we lost a car, but that's nothing compared to the health and safety of Joshua and the person he hit.
Happy Birthday!
I'm so glad Joshua is ok. Stuff happens. I hope the local government will do something about that tricky spot on the road soon.
Happy early birthday! The roses are indeed beautiful. 🙂
It's one of those multi-lane roads with a lot of stoplights, and all along that highway, there are places where either the leftmost or rightmost lane backs up, due to some upcoming turns.
If you're aware of that, you can avoid the bad lanes...but if you're not aware and not paying attention, it's super easy to rear-end someone!
Your perspective of life is lovely! When I read your blog I am reminded to be grateful and happily work toward my goals...thanks for that!
I've been reading your blog for many years, but rarely comment. My demographic is much different, being a 74 year old retiree living on a very limited budget. And yet, I am drawn to your words of wisdom in every post. Even though life throws curve balls all the time, finding the good, the real and the true can really make a difference.
Thank you for you for being here for us all!
PS I am sewing baby quilts by hand from small pieces of fabric that I stitch together with a love that fills me up when I am feeling down.
Do you need pieces of fabric?
I love this comment! And yes, Kristen is awesome and lovely to read.
First off, you niece is so cute! That baby smile is contagious. As for the wreck, ugh, stuff happens. So glad the insurance company is doing the right thing.
Well you will have to let us know how your insurance rates fare after making 2 claims with young drivers. We and our friends have found that the companies usually up your rates so much that it never pays to make the claim in the end. They make sure they get their money back and then a lot more on premiums that stay high for a long time. I suppose they would go under if they didn't because young people have such high accident rates.
My just out of college son has a job where he travels a fair bit and he's just had 2 consecutive issues with National Car rental so I cringed a bit when you said you had 2 rental cars in your drive after the crap he's been charged. He was in Maryland in March and they had a bad snowstorm and he said the car was actually plowing through slush on the highways. He noticed a tiny piece of plastic hanging down from under the bumper after parking it. The car was returned and a few weeks later he got a bill for $500 to repair plastic damage under the car. A car shouldn't get damaged from a little snow so we think someone went over a curb with it and tucked it back under-or National is continually tucking it under and billing the next person.
He just got a notice for damage on a car he rented in Florida a couple weeks ago and they haven't said what it is yet. He said absolutely nothing was damaged when he drove the car. His company will pay but it is all looking a little scammy. So when you pick up a car go over the car WITH an agent and again when you return it. Note any damage and take pics. UGH!!!
Oh man, that's awful about what happened to your son! Our rentals are through Enterprise, and we've never had an issue with them before. Hopefully that'll remain the case. Enterprise always has us walk around the car with them...perhaps National doesn't?
I don't believe our insurance will rise from Lisey's claim, as that goes under comprehensive. But Joshua will indeed pay a surcharge for the next two years. However, the surcharge is WAY less than the $6000 that they're sending us for his totaled car, so in this case, it's worth it.
For smaller stuff, though, you're totally right. Better to repair your own bumper than submit a claim for it.
If there were no injury claims in Joshua's accident, then it should have the same impact on your policy as if he'd gotten a speeding ticket. If there was an injury claim made, even if minor, well . . that will be a heftier hit. Fingers crossed it's the former!
(Former auto insurance underwriter here ☺ )
Yes, 22 year old nephew rear ended someone in January. He said they looked fine but they have already instigated a law suit. My sis's insurance company is handling it but you know the rates will go up. I'm starting to look for cheaper car insurance- mine is too high considering I have never caused an acciient or got a ticket. Once someone hit me when traffic had stopped for a school bus. It didn't enter my mind to claim an injury although I must have been asked 10 times if I needed to go to the ER or on the phone see a doctor.
I think the problem is it's a business rental and so you just grab your car and go and return it the same way. But he's going to get agents from now on and go over the car in detail and take pictures. Waste of valuable time but feels he must do it so no more of these little surprises don't crop up!
My goodness yes. That's totally worth a few minutes for a walk around!
When we recently rented a car, we did it online. When we went to pick it up, the office and agents are in a building nowhere near where the cars are, and they certainly weren't about to walk out with us to the car. They didn't even have guards or porters or anything. It used to be that a person would take you to the car and check it with you and have you sign that it was in good shape. Now they want you to sign before you even see it.
Oh wow, that's crazy! I'm so surprised companies operate like that.
Somehow I missed that you have 2 kid cars. I hope your able to find a good replacement for your son.
Happy things, my son will be home for the weekend from school, My daughter is going to prom in a beautiful dress we bought 2nd hand and her homecoming shoes. My youngest daughter found an 8th grade graduation dress on clearance for $25. It is hard to find an age and occasion appropriate dress for a 13 year old, but I was pleased with the selection at Francesca’s.
That's a great quote for the car! We thought our car would be totaled when my husband and a deer met, but they chose to cover the cost to fix it instead. 5,500 worth of work and we paid 500.
Happy thoughts: My local Walmart has online grocery pick up starting today! I placed an order for my husband to get on his way home from work.
We have a septic drain field issue, and the man who came out talked with our 18 yr old, who then relayed to my husband what was said, who then told me... We were looking at 10,000 to fix at that point. I called and talked to the man yesterday... It is only 2000-3000! Such a relief.
My 18 yr old will be graduating in May!
After our household was sick for 6 weeks, we are finally better!
Happy almost birthday 🙂
1) I am so happy for the light jacket weather we are currently having.
2) I have finally been able to get some of my seedlings into the garden.
3) My son was abke to go watch his first baseball game yesterday and loved it!
4) We are all currently healthy, not even a cold right now. That hasn’t happened very often these last few months.
I'm glad Joshua is okay, and that the other person is too. And I think it's awesome that you got his permission to share about his wreck. So many parents of teenagers seem to think it's amusing to deliberately embarrass them. It's refreshing to see someone who doesn't.
If you don't mind me asking, is your house insured with Erie too? And, do you think what they're giving you for the car is so good because they're being so fair, or because you got a great deal on it in the first place? We're looking to switch insurance companies (never, ever go with Traveler's), so I've been asking around, especially when people have had claims recently.
Things making me happy are:
1. It's not raining! After three days of rain it's great to see the sun. 🙂
2. It's warmer today than yesterday and Monday.
3. The weekend forecast looks great.
4. The lilac bush I planted four years ago is doing great and looking gorgeous.
5. The plant sale at the local community college starts tomorrow.
I hope y'all get everything straightened out with cars soon!
Yeah, I think that's very important. The only story that's mine to share without permission is my story, you know? And everyone else in my family should have a say about whether theirs is shared!
We do have our house with Erie as well, but we've made no claims for our house.
I do think we got a fairly good deal on the car in the first place, but nothing crazy low, so I feel like Erie is just being quite fair. Plus, the customer service has been AMAZING from start to finish, so that's worth a lot too.
We have Erie for our cars and home. A couple of years ago a hurricane knocked down multiple trees in our yard and one tree hit our fireplace, damaging it. We were also without power for almost a week and lost a lot of food in our refrigerator and freezer. Erie was terrific to work with. They were very fair in the money they gave us for the damages and customer service was fast and easy to deal with. We were very pleased. They also didn't jack up our rates unreasonably afterward.
Thanks for the additional info about Erie! My one dealing with them was pretty positive. Someone at work hit my car (in a gated lot, not sure how she thought she'd get away with it) and left. Fortunately for me, we share a lot with the Sheriff's Office, and a deputy happened to be looking out a window when it happened. He took great pictures, found out from the security in our building who owned both cars, and was generally just awesome. Erie was super easy to deal with about fixing my car and getting me a rental. Honestly, I wasn't sure if that just their normal approach or because I was fortunate enough to have had a deputy witness and photograph a hit and run. It's starting to sound like they're pretty easy to deal with, so I think I'm definitely going to talk to my husband about getting a quote from them.
So glad Joshua is OK! It must have been stressful for him - I have an 18 year old boy driver as well - I knwo he would be upset if something happend while he was in the car. But accidents happen - thats why they call them accidents!
I am wondering if you insurance preium will go up as a result of the accident? Here is Massacusetts you end up paying higher premiums for 6 years if you make a claim!
Yes, Joshua will pay a surcharge for the next two years due to his accident.
Question: Is he on his own policy? Reason I'm asking is because when one of our kids is in an accident it makes all the cars on the policy go up and we have 5 drivers. My youngest (17) just rear ended someone with the same damage as your son...wrecked a car but we didn't have full coverage. Luckily the policy renewal had just been mailed to me so I quickly paid it. Can't wait to see next years bill...we have some of the highest rates in the country in Michigan.
As I understand it, the surcharge applies just to him.
It is good to sometimes look at the bright side but I know it's not always easy. I'm sure it would be much easier to list the crummy things going on in my life but here's my best shot at the good stuff.
1. Spring has finally arrived and I was able to finally get some radishes and lettuce planted. I'm a little late on both but not too late.
2. Despite my daughter being an absolute terror in meltdown mode since coming home, she went to bed on time and my wife and I got to spend some quality married couple time together. We watched this BBC mockumentary called Cunk on Britain which was really funny. We needed the laughs.
3. I get to go to see my favorite band this weekend. I'm so happy they are back together and touring again.
You have just convinced me to go out and get radishes and lettuce planted! Will listen to music while doing it.
What is your favorite band?
So, 2 more good things for you: you inspired me!
Favorite band at the moment is the indie alternative band Company of Thieves. My wife and I started dating about the time they got heavy airplay in the Albany NY area. We have tried to see them whenever they come to the area. Luckily the tickets aren't badly priced.
I know. The crummy stuff tends to float to the top of our consciousness, doesn't it? It takes a concentrated effort to search for the good sometimes.
Whew, glad to hear that the only thing damaged was a car or two, not Josh or anyone else! And happy birthday; the roses are lovely, as is that super adorable niece.
Well, this is the time for me to find silver linings alright. My husband fell and shattered his kneecap on our steps outside 10 days ago. We've had much to deal with, but:
Our neighbor, who is approaching 80, came over and mowed our (big) yard for us.
My husband's nephew came and constructed a ramp so my husband can get over our front door threshold in a wheelchair.
My son-in-law helped so much when we came home from the hospital, and offered to come back and stay the next night to help us more.
My out-of-town daughter, married to said son-in-law, came and cooked supper for us the night we got home, and came back a couple of days later and helped me clean house and take care of her father for several hours.
My other daughter came to our house to help me get her dad to and from the doctor and hospital and visited him at the hospital. She placed the order for the shower chair for us without our asking. She came and stayed with her dad while I attended a meeting in another town the day after he got home, spending several hours with him.
Her boyfriend came to the house and carried my husband to the car to take him to get x-rays, then brought him home. He came again, to help my husband go to the ortho clinic, then the hospital 2 days later, and back home again upon release. He visited in the hospital with my daughter, and came to the house. He'd had surgery less than a month before this, so this was no small thing for him to do.
My husband's niece brought big plates of food to the house from a family gathering we had to miss.
In spite of how bad this has been, and it's far from over, I can be thankful and full of praise for the love, kindness and assistance we've been given.
I love Erie, I have been with them a long time. They are wonderful to deal with. I have been in 3 accidents in the last 5 years that weren't my fault and it's been smooth handling it. Not fun, but it never is.
I like this idea of sharing happy things:
1) My semester is ending this week and I am just waiting for my final grades to come in. Once they do, I can submit them to my employer for reimbursement.
2) I am so unhappy in my current job. I interviewed for a job I think I'd really like last Wednesday and I have been checking my email (obsessively) to hear back from the company. Fingers crossed that they pick me!
3) I started going to the gym again and even hit up a yoga class last night from the 10 class pass that my parents gave me for Christmas. Feels good to get moving again (even if I am really tired).
4) I won tickets to a brunch event this Saturday that normally cost $40 each (or $50 at the door). My sister has agreed to go with me so I am excited.
5) My dog comes back from training on Friday. I am excited to see him!
So happy to hear Joshua is safe! Dealing with insurance can be the worst, so those good agents are worth their weight in gold!
My little happy things this week:
1. I replaced all of my makeup with natural/organic makeup alternatives. I'm trying to avoid as many unnatural beauty products as I can, and I'm happy that I finally found products that work for me.
2. I'm trying to earn more for my freelance writing stuff. I'm SO happy to say that I've exceeded my April goal. 🙂 One step closer to full time freelancing!
3. I've been drinking matcha tea lately instead of coffee and it's just tasty and fabulous.
4. I've been keeping up with my goals to write and exercise every morning. It does mean I have to wake up at 5 am, but the payoff is so worth it.
5. Butternut squash, yellow beans, and pattypan squash are coming up like crazy in our garden!
This has been a wonderful week in our house.
1. Baby #5 arrived healthy after less than two hours of relatively easy labor. Six days later I feel almost back to normal. I'm writing this right now with said squishy baby curled up on my chest. I don't think there's a better feeling in the world.
2. The big siblings all adore their new little brother. He's never lacking for love and attention, and so far the older kids are doing great with the new family adjustments too.
3. My husband is on paternity leave. For the month before the birth he was working overtime to save for a bigger van and finishing up an online class, so we never saw him. Now we have all day with him, and it's wonderful!!!
4. Our neighbors and friends have spoiled us with meals, desserts, baby gifts, and play dates for big kids. We only moved here 1.5 years ago, but we already have an awesome support network and feel so loved!
5. I developed a rather painful inguinal hernia during pregnancy. It was a huge blessing that the pain subsided in the last month or so. Now I'm on the 13 day countdown to surgery. I'm so excited to be back to 100% soon. With five kids five and under, the ability to lift and be active is a gift I'll never take for granted again.
Hooray! Congratulations to the whole family! I hope your surgery and recovery are successful.
Yay!!! Congratulations! Enjoy the lovely new baby squishiness. 🙂
Visiting our son, DIL and two grands out-of-state this week.
My DIL is a great cook and I am taking home some new recipes.
The weather has been beautiful in the Atlanta, GA, area, even though it has rained some.
The sun is shining even as I speak. Yay spring.
That's pretty awesome about your insurance! When it rains, it pours and car issues are no different. So glad the kids are ok. Cars can be replaced, ya know?
Some of my happy moments are:
1) An issue at work looks like it will be resolved very soon.
2) School is almost out and DS2 will be attending college. So, we don't have to drive and pick him up at school as he will start taking public transportation to college.
3) We are planning a small vacation. We'll discuss it this week.
4) DS1 has a good job in IT but will be taking online certificate testing and applied for IT jobs at the local public schools. His dream is to work for a school.
5) Despite diabetes type 1, a ruptured brain aneurysm and various other medical issues, we are still alive and kicking. Can't complain about that.
Some things that are making me happy right now are:
1. The after school program is over for the year. This will relieve a lot of the running in the evenings.
2. We survived the first baton competition of the year. Although there were some problems we all made it through and learned some things in the process.
3. My second daughter lives about an hour away. We were able to spend the day together and went to a Christy Wright 1-day workshop. It was fantastic. I can mark that off of my bucket list.
4. I had accidentally left my Ipad at the auto clinic where I get my oil changed. I called them the next day and they had found it and put it away for me to pick up. I am so happy no one took it.
5. Since I am a full time teacher I can say, "It's almost time for school to be out for the summer!" Only 4 more weeks!
Hope you have a very Happy Birthday!
We had Erie when we lived in Virginia and also had great experiences with them. I'm glad they're making things less painful for you!
Enjoy those beautiful flowers! Fresh flowers make such a difference. 🙂
We are enjoying a sunny afternoon here in Michigan, which I'm thankful for. I'm also about to take a nap, which is awesome. It feels good to rest my pregnant, tired self. 😉
1. I’ve really been enjoying Spotify lately (took me a while to appreciate it). So much music for such small amount of money.
2. Our move into a new home went surprisingly smoothly, thank the Lord (even with a five week old)!!
3. Everyone we invited to my daughter’s 6th birthday party is coming, which will make her feel very special.
4. My husband went to Aldi last night (now I don’t have to!).
5. I’ve been able to exercise an impressive amount of self control with my eating, so maybe I’ll be able to lose my last 20 lbs of baby weight!
One thing that’s making me mad: we have 3 kids: all daughters. The youngest is 5 weeks old and I’m already sick to death of the tasteless comments about how awful it is to have all girls, and how now we’ll need to try again for a son, and how sad it must be for their dad. As if our daughters are disappointments. People need to bite their tongues. Our daughters are our pride and joy.
People actually say things like that out loud to you? Yikes. What happened to manners?
I am one of 5 girls. My parents got this all the time. When I had my son, my parents first grandson, my dad said he was going to have to learn baseball. He was used to softball. Girls and boys are both wonderful. They each have special qualities, as does each child. People are stupid! I just read a story where a family had all boys, I think it was 14. They looked pretty happy to me.
That is just ridiculous. I'm sorry people are being so insensitive.
It would be very, very interesting to know if this type of thing is leveled at families of all boys as often as it's leveled at families of all girls. Like, I wonder if this is some kind of vestige of a history of patriarchy, where girls aren't valuable, or is it just a thing people say to families who have children of only one gender.
I have three little boys. Other men would sometimes congratulate my husband on this--which was incredibly irritating--and when I got pregnant again, at least a couple of people actually asked me, "What if it's another boy?" Uhhhh. It's a BABY. Who cares? I explained many times we wanted another BABY, not only a girl baby. And then I had a girl, but I continue to maintain with perfect sincerity that I did not care one bit about the sex.
I do sometimes get interesting and rude comments when strangers hear I have three little boys. More than one person has said "I'm sorry" in an attempt to be funny, I suppose, but really, how can that be anything but rude?
Oh my goodness, I would SUPER irritated by the congratulations about all boys. Like, what possible nice explanation is there for that? I can't think of one!
Italians have a word or phrase for families with three daughters. Something like a special magical lucky blessing- I can't remember what it is- maybe something about angels? I always think of that when I meet new families with 3 girls!
We love Erie too! A few years ago when our area had HEAVY rain that resulted in a good bit of flooding, our electricity was off for 3 days which meant no sump pump for our basement, and it did flood! (We bought a whole house generator after that.)
All that to say, our agent called us and said that Erie had called him asking if any of his clients had flood issues. They were very generous to us, and we have found them to be helpful and more than fair in every instance we’ve had to deal with them! I don’t think you can find a better insurance company!
I am so glad your son is OK. One of the worst things is getting that phone call from you child saying they were in a car accident.
1. Planted my peas finally!. Also planted 3 kinds of tomatoes, 3 kinds of peppers and lettuce in my small greenhouse. Have been harvesting lots of kale.
2. Still have money left for this month's grocery budget and the month is almost over.
3. Dog sitting my sister's dog and getting lots of snuggles and kisses.
4. Everyone is healthy!
5. Going out to eat with 2 girlfriends tonight. There are plenty of leftovers in the fridge so I don't have to cook!
1. I had a weird mole removed and it is not cancerous, which is what the doctor was worried about. VERY happy, especially considering that I am a year out from a four year long illness battle.
2. Very happy and thankful for my husband of 35 years, who has stood by my side (and often held me up literally and figuratively) without complaint or resentment but with a smile through my illness and this latest health scare.
3. The library got a book by a popular author and I was first on the hold list so I picked it up today.
4. This morning I realized I was using electricity to power my dish washer, clothes washer, computer, furnace and oven that was breaking my bread. Staggering to think how many people in the world do not have any electricity.
Oh, I am so happy that your mole was normal. Phew. Sonia had a terrible scare with that a few years ago, and boy, that waiting period to find out what it is is just awful.
Last night I walked to Aldi for a few things and to get my steps in. When I felt in my pocket my card was gone. I told the cashier I would need to put my items back and why. The customer in front of me swiped her card. I told her she didn't need to but she said she wanted to. I pray she was even more blessed than I was. Then another blessing. Arriving home I found my card. It had fallen in my driveway when I took my phone out of my pocket.
That is so awesome
Wow, that's awesome about the insurance paying so much for the car! And your niece is so cute!
When my daughter was still in high school she turned 18 and I let her go on a trip to San Francisco with friends (just 1 hour away) during spring break. On the way back they were in a terrible accident--a car rear ended and flipped the car they were in (my daughter was a passenfer), then it rammed into the car that was in front of them, causing a fire. The miracle was that nobody was hurt! I felt like I won the lottery that my child was alive and unscathed after that. You have a great attitude--cars can be replaced but not lives. I'm glad that Joshua is OK. Give him an extra hug from this reader.
You sure don't look 40!
One of the things I'm most grateful for lately is the peace that comes with trusting in my heavenly Father and realizing that following and obeying Him is wonderful!
Aww, thank you. I suppose it's a silver lining of having greasy skin!
Happy Birthday! Your niece is adorable!
So glad Joshua is ok and Lisey wasn't in her car. I had a flashback to when
my daughters were young drivers. My older daughter had a similar accident
and the car looked the same, but no injury, thank goodness.
My encouraging tip for you is they will all grow up and move on, and one
day you will be a grandmother to more beautiful children. I consider that the reward
for parenting. You and your husband seem to cruise through parenting beautifully.
However, I found it to be one of the most difficult things I've done in my life!
Ahaha, well, we have not always cruised through it. It's just that I don't generally share our not-cruising moments here, due to concerns about privacy for our kids. Parenting is hard! And I think it's hard for everyone. Even when we can't see that.
I love love love Erie! They gave us so much help when our car was totalled. And what a fair payout.
Also, happy birthday, birthday buddy! I turned 40 last week.
Happy birthday right back at you!
1. I have 3 beautiful children who love each other and make me smile.
2. We're heading home tomorrow after being out of town for medical appointments this whole month.
3.My husband dropped everything and came to help either last free appointments and the drive after our trip was extended a week due to 3 weeks of continuously sick children.
4. Medical appointments went well and appear at this point to have been successful, so we're almost done with this issue.
5. My son has medical insurance that allows us to see some of the best doctors for his condition in the country.
6. It's spring.
7. My hosts have Oreos. They're a special treat for us.
If nobody in the other car was hurt, that’s a HUGE thing to be grateful for. I was rear-ended two years ago and still have problems.
That is so awesome that they gave you that much for the car. I am thankful for the following in my life;
- my sister with whom I have wonderful long distance phone calls with
- my sister I live with who offered to make dinner the last couple of nights as I have been overwhelmed with tasks lately
- God who gives me his Presence and Peace
- a u tube video on the ultimate value of women I saw by God-happened-stance
- the friends I have at work - particularly the women who give great hugs
