Snippets of our school morning

It's kinda dark and depressing here this morning, but for some reason, I felt the urge to play with my camera despite the poor light. And since my older kids aren't quite done with their math yet, I'm using some of my math-checking time to unload pictures.

Unloading pictures is far more fun than correcting math.

In case you were wondering.

And of course, pictures are more fun when you share them, so even though I already posted this morning, here I am with a very random, off-topic picture post.

two girls at the table.

Check out Zoe's enthusiasm in the background. She's so pleased when she comes up with the right answer.

Squeaky, Sonia's smallest stuffed turtle, joined us today.

A fish accompanied Zoe, naturally.

More turtles joined us for our reading practice.

Frog and Toad book.

There's Frog and Toad going on one side of me (these stories delight Sonia and Zoe, and Sonia is getting so much better at reading them.).

And "Hop, Hop, Hop!" on the other side (Zoe's still reading Bob Books, but we throw in some I-Can-Read books from the library just to mix things up a bit).

an I Can Read book.

The girls both read out loud, so we take turns. It's so funny to watch Sonia while Zoe reads because she can hardly stand to be quiet while Zoe labors through the process of sounding out the words...she just wants to burst out and tell her the word!

And I know exactly how she feels, having now sat next to 4 beginning readers. 😉

We also did flashcards, handwriting, journal, and some other stuff (and geography is coming after lunch), but even I put down the camera every once in a while....so, this is all I have to show you. 😉

  1. Those snippets are more precious than silver and gold!!!!!! I can see the respect and love that your children have for you in their sweet faces!!!!!

    1. Really enjoy you candid pictures. The girls are so cute. And your sharing your life is fun watching. Thank you

  2. I miss those constant stuffy companions!
Henry (11yo) still has 'pup'(a tiny beagle beanie).
I found him the other day while washing his bedding and was delighted to see the old friend.

  3. I'd love to know more about the curriculum you use!! I seem to spend a ton on curriculum each year and still struggle finding a program for certain areas, that both the kids and I actually like.

  4. Awww, these pictures reminded me of our own homeschooling days. The kids are all grown now with babes of their own. I miss those relaxing, (and sometimes not so relaxing) days gone by. Cherish each and every one. They pass so quickly!

  5. Ahh, Bob books. Now that brings back memories. What a pleasure it was teaching my kids to read and introducing them to the wonderful world of books.

  6. Wow they are cute and you are doing so well with them. Good for you. Mine are too. They love to read too.

  7. What curriculum do you use? I am homeschooling 4 of my own ranging in age from 13-7. I have yet to find a curriculum that is a great fit for all or even one that I completely like.
