Would you like to share your blog with everyone?

An email from a reader, with a suggestion:

Your little virtual blog tour in the last paragraph of today's post has me wondering if you could do an ACTUAL virtual blog tour of FG friend blogs -- invite anyone who regularly reads/comments to comment or email you with their website address and maybe a very short description of what their blog focuses on, then publish your own post listing the web addresses and descriptions (obviously, with the necessary buyer-beware caveats about how you're not endorsing anyone's views, etc.).

It seems to me that if we all enjoy your blog and all enjoy one another via the community you've created, maybe we'd also enjoy blogs written by your other readers. I know I'm always on the lookout for another pleasant, readable blog. It'd be handy to have a list of them all in one place to sample.

Just an idea -- and no, I'm most definitely not trying to replace your blog. I always enjoy reading what you write!

-Tara

I think this is a great idea; another way for you all to get to know each other.

I don't know how many of you blog or have a website of some sort, but I do know there are a few of you!

So, if you'd like me to do a round-up like Tara suggested, could you leave your blog information in a comment? Or you could email me if you'd prefer.

And if I get a sufficient number of contributions (like, more than two!), I'll put it all into a neat and tidy post so that it can be a resource for all of you.

Share away!

P.S. Tara, I totally did not take offense to this question. I am happy for people to read other blogs in addition to (or instead of!) mine. The more, the merrier.

  1. I've been a (mostly quiet) reader of your blog for years now, and I've blogged myself for 10 years consistently about finding the happy medium between seeking self growth and nurturing home and family. I blog regularly about ways I'm trying to improve myself (through goal setting and reading lots of books) as well as our family life (through intentional living, frugality, and seeking out the good). I'm a mom of 3, and my husband and I recently went for a long-time pipe dream of mine and started a small scale flower farm in our backyard last year.

If anyone wants to check my blog out, I'll leave the link below!

    https://www.toloveandtolearn.com

    1. @Torrie @ To Love and To Learn,

I'm already deep into your blog post on how you taught yourself to be a tidy (or tidier!) person.

    2. @Torrie @ To Love and To Learn,
I've spent the last hour down the rabbit hole that is the lists of books you have recommended for the last few years. I've read many, but just added another 15 or so to my library wish list, which was already over 250! To say I'm a voracious reader is an understatement - my goal last year was 121 book, and I was close. I read 116!! I'll definitely be reading your entire blog because it will encourage me in other areas.

    3. @CiCi, how nice of you to respond! Being tidy is SUCH a struggle for me, but I've made huge strides in the last few years, mostly because having small children has taught me that if I don't, we'll literally drown in toys and clutter, ha ha 🙂 I did a Declutter 1,001 Things challenge last year, and I'm already thinking it's time to repeat it for sure!

Thanks so much for commenting and for visiting <3

    4. @Jennifer, you sound like my kind of person!! I adore reading (obviously), but I'll admit that it's been hard to do as much of it as I'd like the past year, what with starting the flower farm and all. I'm off to a pretty good start already this year though, so fingers crossed I can read more than the 36 (print) books I read last year! Glad you were able to find some titles you were excited to add to your list -- that's always so satisfying for me to hear 🙂

    5. @Torrie @ To Love and To Learn, Your blog is lovely! I’m at the same point in life with young children, trying to find that balance between my own development, growth, interests etc while providing for them as well so it will be wonderful to read about your experience doing the same!

    6. @LB, Thank you so much! It's a tricky balance, and I'm definitely not perfect at it. I'm so glad you've stopped by my blog, and I appreciate the comment!

  2. Tara, what a brilliant idea!! I love reading blogs because it's an easy way to learn something new about places and things. This blog is #2 on my Kindle and only because I don't know how to rearrange the ones I have!! I am always on the lookout for new ones. Nothing will replace this one because it's like talking with friends.

Kristen, another thought, would you be up for suggestions of other blogs we like or questions if anyone is in search of a blog in a certain genre? For example, I have been looking for a blog about random acts of kindness, but haven't found one. I totally understand if you want to keep it simple with readers here who blog, but thought I'd ask.

  3. I'd love to participate. My blog, Sam, Coffee, Money, and Thyme is a bit of a lifestyle blog of a recent empty nester, slowly closing in on retirement. I discuss money, time management, cooking, and just like to hang out with good and fun people. Sam, Coffee, Money, & Thyme:

  4. What a great idea! I've been a typically quiet reader for the past 10 or so years, and always love checking out blogs that other commenters mention. I started twofrugalcats.blogspot.com as a pandemic creative outlet. I'm not yet very consistent with the posting, and still working on the UI piece, but it's something I am trying to focus on more regularly. I like to blog mostly about frugal cooking and meal planning/prepping, but have also done some "five frugal things" and "WWS/WWA" posts inspired by your post formats to help me figure out what I want to write about and how to deliver it. I have plans to include posts on gardening, canning, and crafting ventures in the future.

  5. Hehe, have confirmed that this is "my" Tara, and she in fact is on "my" blog. I've enjoyed and bookmarked several blogs by readers from when commenter names were clickable to urls (most notably have read Going Country since ... I dunno. A really long time) and appreciate this suggestion.

    Site: thisprairielife.com

Synopsis: A place for people (mostly me) who live in and/or love the Great Plains to express prairie-related things, be it gushing about the horizon, relating the adventure getting a pasture Christmas tree, talking farming and harvesting, offering book reviews or historical perspective — anything prairie.

Semi-relevant commentary: It's not old in years, but I backfilled with old things I wrote, so it looks older than it is. My initial thought starting out (also covered in the most recent post) was to offer a place for my friends to also contribute so that we could have kind of a group blog with prairie as the common theme. I was concerned that I couldn't generate enough content on my own (because writing is difficult). It didn't go as I envisioned as I don't like to recruit or badger, just offer, and so that idea was maybe dead in the water before it got started.

Well, we also had a family tragedy, so practically right off the bat there's a three-month gap. But, as I evaluate and revise my vision for it, it will not be silent long term. Just need to come up with a way that works.

I am not an innate writer (because writing is difficult). But, as I first heard from my (actually, Tara's and my) best friend's best friend, sometimes I can't not write.

    1. @Karen., Prairies don't get the attention they deserve. I appreciate the photo variety I saw when I looked quickly on your blog, and will read more later!

  6. I think this is such a great idea...I often find other blogs by reading the comments and clicking on the blog links from there...and I've been reading The Frugal Girl since it's inception...I've been blogging since 2006...mostly about knitting, crocheting, vegan food, some other crafty things, and home and family life over at http://affectioknit.blogspot.com...and then I also have another blog where I make a Vegan Version one of Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking recipes each week...at http://theveganversion.blogspot.com/...it's a lot of fun...if you're into that sort of thing...
    Have a lovely day!
    ~Affectioknit-ly,
    Teresa

  7. Ooooh....I would love to be included! I haven't posted often as of late, but one of my goals in the new year is to post at lease weekly now that we are back in the US. I talk about frugality and thankfulness and am currently located in Maine. Blessings to you all! http://www.triciacliff.blogspot.com

  8. Hi Kristen! I write an upbeat blog called Blood Sugar Down: A busy food lovers guide to prediabetes. I feature easy recipes, how to’s, motivation, etc. My blog is
    htpps://www.Bloodsugardown.com

    Kathy L

    1. @Kathy L,
Can't find your web site with this URL, even when fixed for "https:"

All kinds of other sites come up.

  9. I love this idea, I don't have a blog , but some of my favorites that I read regularly are:
For easy recipes and a look at how big families live: https://www.heavenlyhomemakers.com/

How to live frugally and be unashamedly cheap, but Katy doesn't post as much as she used to: https://thenonconsumeradvocate.com/

For off-kilter humor and dealing with mental health issues, Jenny always makes me laugh: https://thebloggess.com/

    For great reading recommendations: https://modernmrsdarcy.com/

Many readers may already be aware of these blogs, but I thought they were worth mentioning away. Apologies, I don't' know how to paste clickable links.

  10. Thanks for posting this, and for those who have commented with their blogs! I really enjoy reading blogs but didn’t know how to go about finding more that I would like.

I feel like a lot of new content now is posted to Facebook, Instagram and TikTok and I’m not on those platforms (except for using fb to access my local buy nothing group!) so I like having a new group of blogs to checkout!

  11. Love this idea! I always love finding blogs to add to my list; seeing what other people do always inspires me to get up and get things done myself (we all need that kind of kick in the pants sometimes, right? Especially when it's so, so cold out!). I recently picked up blogging at my day-t0-day life blog again, where I write about how I spend my days and the projects that I'm working on- https://stephaniegetsitdone.blogspot.com/ and I write about the things I read over at https://shesprobablyatthelibrary.home.blog/

  12. May I please add a shout-out to your friend Katy's "Non Consumer Advocate" blog? She doesn't post the way she used to, but there's a ton of archival material. Her writing is only sporadic FFT's these days, but for long time readers, it's better than not knowing what she's up to. Her voice is missed!

  13. Oh, how fun! I make stuff (mostly sewing clothes, but some knitting) and I blog about it. Two years ago I started The Great Stashbust, where I catalogued every piece of fabric owned (spoiler: it was a lot more than I thought!) and am sloooowly working my way through it. Not that I never buy new fabric, but it's teaching me to be much more judicious.

  14. I really enjoy your blog, Kristen! You are the one who taught me to make my own yogurt 🙂

I share a lot of similar interests of yours, and my blog focuses on the journey of faith, a handmade and homemade home, and simple living on a homestead. My website shares information for people who are intrigued by life on a homestead, who have a homestead of their own, who dream of homesteading someday, or those who are seeking to get back to the simpler ways of living. I'd love for you all to stop by!

  15. This is a fantastic idea! I blog about small business and my hindsight as a business owner. Find me at paigespage.net

  16. Late to this one, and you've already shared my blog a few times here (from which shout-outs I know I now have regular readers, so thanks!), but here it is again:

    https://going-country.blogspot.com/

It's pretty much an extended version of my already-lengthy comments here. 🙂 I do have a schedule of sorts, so Tuesday is when I post a tip (usually kitchen related), Friday is the food recap of the week, and Sunday is photos from the week before.

  17. My late husband actually set up our family blog for me to use back in 2008, I believe. I kept it going, mostly as a way to journal and share what was going on with our family for any other family or friends who wanted to stay updated. I never monetized it because I wanted to be free to do whatever I wanted with it. It has been a fun and creative thing to do. I started a second one that is mainly just about myself, including some unfiltered posts about how I am moving through life. Here are the links to both of them:
    https://cannaryfamily.blogspot.com/
    https://cannarymom.blogspot.com/
At one point I intended to print my blogs and store them for my kids to go through one day. I don't think they read either one of them - at least none of them have ever mentioned it to me!
I love finding new blogs to read, so it will be fun to see everyone else's blog!

  18. This is such a sweet idea, Tara! My thanks to you (for suggesting it) and Kristen (for doing the heavy lifting)! I’ve been reading The Frugal Girl for about seven or eight years. With early retirement just a couple of steps away, I came for Kristen’s frugal ideas. I stayed due to her patient, positive and tolerant attitude and the delightful community she built around her lifestyle and her value system. This is a creative way to build more connections within that community.

My blog, Reflections Around the Campfire, details our family’s travels and celebrates our State and National Parks and the RV lifestyle. Our adventures began when my husband and I honeymooned by traveling across the country with a two person mountain tent to visit some of the iconic National Parks of the American West. In addition to documenting our travels on my blog, the posts also encompass a variety of topics including family, friends, traditions, outdoor activities and tips to make the RV lifestyle easier or less expensive. Anyone is welcome to pull up a virtual camp chair and visit!

I'm having difficulty with getting a live link to show, so feel free to copy and paste the following into a browser: https://reflectionsaroundthecampfire.blogspot.com/. A good day to all!

  19. I love this idea and am already looking through some of the blogs listed here! Thanks.

I have read your blog since at least 2008. I started my blog, Mom's Plans, in 2009, after my second child was born. I blog about freezer cooking, living with food intolerances (particularly gluten and dairy), homeschooling, homeschooling kids with special needs, and book reviews for adults and kids. You can find me at https://www.momsplans.com

  20. Great idea! I struggle to find other blogs to read as well. Over the years my blog roll has dwindled as many bloggers have moved onto other formats. I would love to have more blogs to follow!
**My blog is TheThriftyEducator. I blog about books, frugal things, recipes, yearly goal updates, homeschool topics, and my family life.
    https://thethriftyeducator.com/

  21. If I actually kept up with my blog, I would. But, alas, I do not. I can't wait to have a chance to check out all these blogs!

  22. I'm not a frequent commenter, but LOVE this idea! This is a great idea to learn more and share with one another. Thanks for the suggestion!

  23. This is such a great idea. I’ve been reading through the comments, and I’m definitely planning to check out some of the blogs.

I’m not the best at posting super regularly, but that’s one of my goals for 2022. My blog is Sweet Tea Reads. It’s fairly eclectic; I post a lot of cat pictures, some dog pictures, some recipes, things about volunteer projects, plant/garden pictures, and a few other random things.

  24. A list of a few of my favorites:

    For food: Melskitchencafe.com
For pictures and pretty tea cups: grannymarigold.blogspot.com
For insight into stockpiling and pantry, as well as inspiration: coffeeteabooksandme.blogspot.com
For beautiful words of wisdom: brendaknightgraham.com

  25. I've been reading FG for so long I don't remember when I started. I do write a blog...it is just about my life (very heavy on quilting projects, with some cooking/baking tutorials thrown in) and it keeps me in touch with friends in other states. Here's the link:https://dreamsoaps.wixsite.com/website

  26. My blog has nothing to do with being frugal (I'll leave that to talented Kristen), but if you're looking for discussions on reading and writing, I'm your gal!

  27. I've been reading your blog since around 2014 or so. I'm not a big commenter but I really enjoy all of the post. I found the Frugal Girl when I was searching for a recipe to make bread. I'm not necessarily a frugal person but you've inspired me to do better over the years. Also I just enjoy reading about your family. I feel like we're distant relatives I've never met.
I too have a small blog that I've been working on. It's a work in process. http://www.pisgahlife.com/

  28. What a wonderful request and I think the more the merrier too...we always can learn so much from each other.
I have a fashion blog with my mother (who is turning 84 tomorrow) and my friend who is in her 70s. It's not your normal fashion blog about how to buy more and more, but I love to show how versatile most of our clothing items are. By combining them with different colors or different pieces and making our closets bigger.
Don't get me wrong, I do love to shop, but we tend to go thrift shopping when we do.
Heck, I just bought a winter coat for under $1 because of some brand rewards, so I'm all about a good deal.

  29. Wow - this is such a great idea. Blogging has become less popular but I really enjoy both writing and reading. I have only known about FG for maybe six months or so and love it. The community here is so fun and very friendly.
I do have a blog - mainly about sewing, quilting, my family, and som community service projects I am involved with. Check it out if you'd like:

    https://needleandfoot.com

I have been opening so many blogs on my browser from the comments here. I am looking forward to reading and getting to know more about you all!

  30. V rare poster, and blogger for a number of years, but just recently retired it. I've spent a pretty penny printing out (back to back, colour, bound) editions. And having read some of the printouts, what to get out a pen and white out to make some notes lol!! What a lovely idea, and I made some great 'virtual' blogger friends by visiting and commenting on blogs!

  31. I have a blog!

    its-only-temporary-ruth.blogspot.com

Lots of recipes, struggles, humor, about family and Just Life. I took a long hiatus most of last year, but I've started posting again.

I've had lots of hits from Kristin's blog in the past, so come read me and leave some comments!

  32. This is such a great idea! I really do love it! And I really enjoyed this post! First time reader here! ❤️

    Domesticmaven.com

  33. What a great idea! Thanks for the opportunity! I, too, LOVE reading others blogs. I've been blogging for almost 5 years and have seen steady growth. I blog about frugal living, personal finance and thriftiness. My frugal recipes tend to be my biggest draw, because we all have to eat...right?! 🙂
I would love to have more visitors and I can't wait to go through and read so many of these!
Thanks again for sharing and if anyone would like to come over for a visit, here's my link: http://www.lovetofrugal.com
