Free $10 at TopCashBack, a reader review of 99 Cent Razors, and more!

Every now and then, I end up with a bunch of small things to share with you.   And since Food Waste Friday is over at Simply Being Mum’s this week, this seemed like a perfect time for a miscellany post!

TopCashBack - Mozilla Firefox 6122015 80836 AM

I’ve been using TopCashBack instead of Ebates for the last year or so, mainly because when I check both, TopCashBack offers a higher rate of return in most cases.

If you’ve been on the fence about joining TopCashBack, right now is a super great time to sign up because new members get a $10 bonus right off the bat.

The $10 will be in your account right away, and as soon as you earn $10 in cash back by shopping through TopCashBack, your $10 bonus and your $10 earned cash back will both become payable.

These money you earn from these types of sites isn’t going to be enough to send you on a trip around the world, but I look at it this way:

I willingly use reward credit cards that give back 1-5% in rewards, so why would I pass up the opportunity to earn a similar return on online purchases that I’d be making anyway?

(Especially when I can earn cash back from TopCashBack on top of my credit card rewards.)

Also, you can use TopCashBack to shop for things like Groupons, which is sort of like triple-dipping.

(You earn TopCashBack and credit card rewards for buying a discount voucher.   Yay!)

The $10 bonus is only available through this coming Tuesday, June 16th, so make sure to sign up before then.

Sometimes the frugal option is the fast one.

I made a birthday card for my mom yesterday, but it was a decision motivated more by speed/convenience than frugality.

(Though homemade cards ARE super cheap!)

It took me about 3 minutes to put together a minimalist birthday card, and my kids and I wrote notes inside.

Definitely faster than going to a store and picking through eleventy bazillion cards.   And I have such a hard time finding a card with wording that I like anyway.

(So many are far more flowery than I prefer. Or over the top.   Like, I love Mr. FG dearly, but I’m not gonna buy him a card that says he’s the sun and the moon.)

I also have a stack of blank cards and envelopes (from Goodwill, actually!) that I sometimes use. Blank cards work for every occasion, and then I’m free to write whatever I want inside.

Limeapple has a 30% off swimwear sale today only.

The girls are all still loving their Limeapple activewear sets from Costco.

(The Costco deal was extended, so they’re likely still available at your store if you’re wanting to snag one for your girls!)

Anyway, I got an email this week letting me know that Limeapple is having a 30% off online sale on their swimwear today only.

We haven’t tried Limeapple’s swimwear yet, but based on the quality of the activewear, I think it’d be great.

Use the coupon code LIVLUVSWIM to get the 30% discount.

A Reader Raves about 99 Cent Razor

I love my 99 Cent Razor, but I obviously have only tried these razors for non-facial shaving.

99 cent razor review

So I was pleased to receive this email from male reader D.D.:

(Yes! Some men do read my blog.)

I just wanted to pass on that I’ve been spreading the word at work regarding the 99 Cent Razor company that you blogged about.

I actually got myself one of the 99 Cent Razors because I’ve been trying different ones like the Member’s Mark razors from Sam’s Club that were much cheaper than Gillette.   They were horrible. I looked like I had JUST learned how to shave and was nicked up everywhere!

I was thinking of trying out Dollar Shave Club and then came across your blog. I whole-heartedly agree with your assessment. Their razors are LEGIT! 🙂 They work great and I’m super pleased with them!

You can read all about 99 Cent Razor in my original post and pick up your two free trial razors here.

(Just pay $2.95 shipping and handling.     And in case you didn’t read my original post, I recommend ordering the men’s razor regardless of your sex because the women’s version currently only comes in a disposable variety.)

Ok! I think that takes care of the random things I wanted to share.

Say, I know a bunch of you ordered 99 Cent Razors after my first post about them (we put them out of stock temporarily!), so I’d love to hear your feedback too.

I ordered a sample of the 99 cent razors a couple weeks ago and wasn't super impressed. I've only used it a few times and it already seems dull. It also took a lot longer to shave my legs. Of course, the issue might be that my point of comparison for the 2-blade razor is the 5-blade Venus razors. I hate how expensive they are, but I might decide they're worth the money. Although I think I'll try out the Dollar Shave Club first since I think they have an option with more blades.

Ah, that would make a difference. I don't know that I've ever used a 5-blade razor before, but that would probably be an impressive experience!

I like to make cards too. Very meditative. I cut sayings from magazines I have read and glue them to scrapbook paper on a plain white card. Handmade cards are original and so much more personal.

It's kind of like scrapbooking, except that you are never behind like you are with scrapbooking. (at least that's how I look at it!)

We were in the market for a new swim suit, so I looked and I found one that I liked the price of, and my daughter liked it too. We'll see if the size works. Hopefully they don't run small.

I hope it does! It's so hard to judge with swimsuits as sometimes they do run small.

Let us know how the suit is!

I ordered the sample of 99 cent razors after your review, and I was super excited for my husband to try them. I mean, great razors at a great price?! Sign me up! However, I'm sad to sad that my husband tried them and really didn't like them at all. They cut him badly, and he even asked me to go back to some dollar store razors he had been using. So sad!!!!

Wow, I'm so surprised to hear that. I felt like mine were excellent quality. Huh.
