I reliably put posts out on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
But somehow, Wednesday often gets the short end of the stick, and I end up either not writing a post or writing a rather random post, like a stream of consciousness.
So, if you don’t like random posts….come back tomorrow.
If you want to read a random post about what I did on my birthday, well, make yourself at home!
I started out my day by suggesting to Mr. FG that we drive to a nearby park for our morning walk instead of doing our usual neighborhood route.
He’s pretty much always game for switching things up, so he said yes.
This park is on the opposite shore of the river, so it’s kind of fun to see our neighborhood from the other side.
Going for a walk with me can probably get annoying at times because I am always stopping to take pictures.
Luckily Mr. FG doesn’t mind. Either that, or he is numb to it after this many years.
After our walk and a shower, I got my free Starbucks coffee.
And look, the weather was so nice for my birthday! Sun and blue skies.
Late April here is such a perfect time of year to have a birthday; nine times out of ten, you have nice weather.
I had biology lab and lecture (college is no respecter of birthdays) and then I finished my labs for the week.
Then I set out on a mission to redeem some of my birthday freebie offers. More on that in next week’s Five Frugal Things probably!
When I got back home, I suggested to Mr. FG that we take an afternoon paddle on the river and since he’s working from home with a flexible schedule, he said yes.
I found five turtles sunning themselves on a log, but unfortunately they all slipped into the water before I could take a picture.
The river looks kind of toxic in places right now, but it’s because of all the oak pollen.
Hopefully the oak flowers will give up the ghost soon. I do see them starting to fall, so that’s hopeful.
For dinner, I chose Panera takeout (plenty of options there for Sonia and Zoe’s allergies and also, I am never not in the mood for sandwiches and salads!)
After dinner, my mom and dad came over for ice cream cake and Lisey was home from work by then too which made for a fun time.
It was a really good day from start to finish. Last year, things were still very locked down on my birthday and man, I am just so happy it’s 2021 instead of 2020.
Also, I am thankful for another year. I may make jokes about not liking my gray hairs, but when it comes down to it, I am endlessly grateful for each birthday.
Not everyone gets to have as many birthdays as I have had; 43 trips around the sun are a privilege and I hope I can always see my birthdays that way!
Every year is a gift.
