Every week, I post a picture of the food that has gone bad over the last seven days. Why do I do this? Because in March of 2008, I finally got fed up with the amount of food I was wasting, and I thought that showing my waste to other people would motivate me to use up my food instead of wasting it. Because this often embarrassing practice was so helpful for me, I invited other bloggers to join me in posting their food waste photos, and Food Waste Friday was born. If you’re not a blogger but still want some food waste accountability, feel free to participate by leaving a comment.
This week, the only thing I wasted was a quarter of a thin slice of whole wheat bread. I noticed it and was about to toast it and eat it, but it was moldy. And I don’t eat moldy bread.
I didn’t manage to take a picture of it, though…sorry (or maybe, “You’re welcome!” is more in order, because it’s not like moldy bread is really fun to look at!).
No other food has gotten slimy or hairy in my house this week, though, so that’s good. Unfortunately, I am in the unhappy position of having two pieces of leftover fish in my fridge, and we all know how that went down last time. This is tilapia, not salmon, though, so I might be able to swing this. It’s definitely not going into my scrambled eggs, though!
Oh, and do come back this afternoon because I’m going to publish a reader question that I’m unable to answer, and I need your help.
