What I Spent

I spent  $166 on groceries this week.   So, a little over budget, but not by much!

What We Ate

Monday

I was planning to cook some tortellini, but discovered they were moldy. That’s never happened to me before.   Apparently I grabbed a package of tortellini that was too close to the expiration date.

So we had bacon and French toast with fresh mango on the side.

Breakfast for dinner is such a good backup plan.

Tuesday

We had dinner at my brother’s house, and we got to meet his new puppy. Which made Zoe very very happy.

Wednesday

Burgers! I had a fried egg on top of mine, which sounds weird at first but is actually very tasty.

Assuming you like eggs, of course.

Thursday

It was a nutso day, and I had to run some errands around dinnertime…so we hit up Chick Fil A.

Friday

Well…Sonia and Zoe and I are about to leave on a road trip to visit some very good friends in Ohio for the weekend, so we are going to be eating there tonight!   WE ARE SO EXCITED.

I live in New Zealand and eggs on burgers is pretty common, usually accompanied by a bit of beetroot and cheese! Delicious.

I’ve loved reading for years, but now I’ve finally decided to join the comment crew! Monday: my sister was visiting from out of town, and it was her birthday, so my husband picked up a BBQ sampler and we ate cake (Nothing Bundt Cake had a BOGO free so we used that). Tuesday: leftovers galore! I had a sweet potato with leftover pulled pork and my husband ate a smoked chicken thigh and sides. Wednesday: Korean pork chops, sesame noodles, and slaw. Thursday: Ladies night out! I packed up the baby and met girlfriends at the Cheesecake Factory. Not financially inexpensive, but rich in fellowship so totally worth it. Friday: chicken pesto pasta (using basil from my herb box). Saturday: My sister-in-law is coming over for craft night, so I’m going to put together a cheeseboard. I imagine she’ll bring dessert. Two girls’ nights in one week have got me feeling spoiled!

I am in awe. Many of you are so creative.

Sunday we had a roasted chicken with vegetables. Monday was stir fry with steak Tuesday chicken sausages with various vegetables. Wednesday I can't remember Thursday grilled cheese on toast Friday roast pork and vegetables Tonight was roast chicken.

We live in subtropical Queensland so we enjoy these meals while the weather is cooler.

And for what we ate this past week...

Monday - Smokies, salad and zucchini

Tuesday - taco salad.

Wednesday - Greek style rice salad

Thursday - We were visiting family and had garden beans and tomatoes, hotdogs, steak, rice and yams.

Friday - Brown rice with ground meat cooked with onions, swiss chard and tomato-pesto sauce. Green beans and sweet bell pepper.
