A few weeks ago, Tyndale, a Christian publisher, contacted me to tell me about their brand new rewards program, and asked if I’d give it a try and tell you guys about it.
So, I’m here to do that!
It’s called Tyndale Rewards and you don’t have to purchase stuff to get points.
Instead, you earn points for things like taking their surveys, signing up for email devotionals, signing up for the birthday club, participating in focus group sessions, and so on.
You can redeem your points for a fairly wide variety of books (and Bibles!). Though Christians will obviously find more to choose from, there are a number of books that anyone might want to read.
For instance, the Master Leaders book there is written by George Barna, and one of the leaders it profiles is Seth Godin.
There are also some audio options, such as C.S. Lewis’s The Last Battle.
It’s pretty easy to earn enough points to get a free book…after spending a few minutes the other day doing some of the tasks, I already have 75 points, and lots of the books are available for 75 points or less.
So, even if you don’t manage to keep earning points forever (after the initial surveys* and sign-ups, the point-earning opportunities left are focus-group participation and inviting friends, so the point-earning will probably slow down.), you should easily be able to get a free book.
*I assume that more surveys will be released over time, but I’m not sure how often.
You can browse through all of the books offered as rewards to see if any pique your interest. I’d guess that the selection will change (and hopefully grow!) as the program continues.
Oh, and if you sign up for the birthday club, they send you a free downloadable gift (I believe it’s a book), regardless of how many points you have.
So, what do I think?
I think it’s awesome that you can earn points without spending money, and I also like that the program is really easy to use. It should be very simple for anyone to get a free book, and receiving the downloadable birthday gift is something anyone can do as well.
The only thing I’m a little bummed about is that the selection of rewards is a bit limited. For instance, there are a lot of Bibles, but they’re pretty much all NLT, so if that’s not what you want, you’re out of luck.
Hopefully as the program grows, the earning opportunities and the selection will grow as well.
But hey, if you liked something in the current rewards offerings, definitely sign up and snag a book…it’s easy and free.
Since I know you all are a bunch of avid readers and since Tyndale is all about reading, I’m super-duper excited to say that one randomly chosen reader will receive a 7″ Kindle Fire HD. Woohoo!
(You can read all the details about that particular model at the Amazon link.)
To enter, just leave me a comment telling me the last book you read (even if it’s been a long time since you read a book!)
One entry per person, please.
Comments will be closed on Thursday, January 16th, at 11:59 PM EST.
Winner will be randomly chosen, using random.org, and will be announced Friday morning.
Apologies to my international readers, but this giveaway is limited to the continental U.S.
