Grocery Spending and Menu Plan-3.14

img_2455

Some friends of mine and I are doing another grocery challenge this month, and I signed up for $80/week again. Unfortunately, I’m over by $5. Gah!

I spent $40 at Aldi, and then at Weis I spent $45. I would have been on target, but the frozen shrimp, which normally comes in one pound bags, was only sold in two pound bags($10 instead of $5). So, I had to buy two pounds, and that $5 put me over. Of course, it’s not a big problem, because now I have enough shrimp to last us for a while, but I’m still sort of annoyed.

The reason I bought so much Cottonelle is that a deal was going on where you got $5 off when you bought so many. I suppose if I hadn’t done that, I’d have been way under budget even with the shrimp. But, at least I won’t have to buy it again for a while.

Oh, Canadian Saver, I should mention that I use fresh crab and shrimp when I make the dip, and so I use milk in place of the liquid it calls for(from the cans of seafood).

Today I went over $80 for the first time in weeks because I decided to go back to buying all local/organic fresh produce. I was actually surprised that I only spent a little over $90 with that change because all the organic stuff was 2-3x more expensive - and that at a discount grocery that carries local/organic! I also bought 3 pounds of meat for a party this Saturday, another deviation from my normal. So I still think I'll be able to come in at under $320 for the month if I am careful. :)

Ohhhhh, I see! lol

I'm not a huge pie fan unless it's a non-traditional pie, like peanut butter pie. My issue is that I don't like the taste of regular pie crust, so pies with graham cracker or cookie crusts appeal to me more.

a lot of math classes celebrate with pie on or around March 14 which is 3.14. Remember that mathematical formula to find out the area of a circle by multiplying by Pi or 3.14? Kind of a fun in a weird way.
