“What do we need more applesauce for?”, wondered Mr. FG when he came home from work yesterday.
I say, though, that there’s no such thing as too much applesauce. The winter is long, and one would hate to run out of good applesauce.

You ALWAYS need more applesauce. One of those quart jars gets opened, and it’s gone in five minutes. At least it is in our house.
Indeed, the winter is long. And applesauce is so easy. And the apples are so tasty right now. I made Honeycrisp applesauce over the weekend and boy-howdy was it tasty.
Looking at those jars I wondered how many you had and how many were going to be tied up in the freezer. Then I had a thought: if one uses wide-mouthed containers, one could remove the applesauce after one froze it, and store it in bags instead. I may be trying this soon.
If you are using bags anyway, you could just pour the sauce straight into the bags and freeze that way.
Love it!
Agreed – you can never have too much applesauce. Speaking of which, I think we just finished our last jar from last year. I need to get busy around here!
Oh, yeah! No such thing as too much apple sauce.
Applesauce! It’s what’s for dinner (and lunch and breakfast and a snack)!
On my to-do list for today!
I made homemade applesauce (and apple butter) this past weekend for the first time. They both taste great! I may be converted to the homemade versions, they taste soo much better.
I made some in the crock pot two days ago. We cut our apples into chunks with a little water (usually 1/4 – 1/2 cup or so) put in a little sugar if they are tart apples and then a little cinnamon about 30 minutes before you take it out. Yum! We love this.
I’d love to do this and fill the freezer up. What’s your recommendation for thawing… do you just move it from freezer to fridge when ready?
Haha! I laughed out loud on this post because that’s a question I hear from my husband quite often these days.
Totally! I could make a ridiculous amount of applesauce and it would still be gone well before the winter is over.
