You know how in my summer bucket list wrap-up post, I said I thought that Zoe would be the one kid who wouldn’t have a freak-out over the new chore routine I made? Well, as it turns out, she was the least happy out of the bunch.
At least, initially she was. A few days into it, her mental outlook has improved, and she’s doing a pretty good job with her new responsibilities.

Oh my, how she has grown!
Kristen, I have a 5 year old and I’m struggling to think of chores for his chore list.
Could you share what things you included on Zoe’s list ? Just trying to get some new
ideas. We have a basket on the back of the toilet that holds 3 rolls of toilet paper and
a step stool with storage in it that I keep the extra toilet paper. One of his jobs is to keep
the basket stocked and to let me know when he gets the last roll out of the stool so I’ll know
when to purchase more. He also keeps the porch swept and feeds and waters the dog. Of
course, picking up his toys too.
Sure…Zoe is learning how to wipe the table after meals, she uses window cleaner to clean the oven, dishwasher, fridge, and some windows, and she also uses a small hand broom and a dustpan to sweep the steps. She’s 6.5 (Holy cow! How did that happen??), so your son might need some slightly easier things.
I know the chores Zoe is doing right now won’t be done perfectly, but she’ll get better with practice, and the best way to learn household tasks is by doing them.
