This is the coveted Yesercise mug.

When I first met Mr. FG, he was an employee of Viking Office Products. Actually, he was a Viking employee for a number of years after we were married too.

Anyway, he got this mug at work before we got married, and it has always cracked me up. I have no idea who thought it was a good idea for the employees to always say yes, but someone did.

I’m certainly a fan of saying yes, but I’m pretty sure that sometimes the word no does need to be said.  ;)

Our kids love this mug because it has a special feature…when the mug is cold, the picture turns black.  Once a hot beverage is poured in, though, the yesercise man appears.

And because of that, when it’s hot beverages all around, everyone always wants the yesercise mug.

That’s funny! I’d imagine it was some sort of customer service promo—saying yes to the customer whenever possible, or something like that. My kids would probably fight over it, too.

I know one thing, My Tommy wouldn’t last very long at a place which expects him to say yes all the time. (I would be fine as I’m very complient–most times) He’s simply too logical for such nonsense. Yes as a positive attitude is fine but being a Yes-man (or woman) gets you nowhere fast. You have to go against the grain sometimes to make a difference (let’s'\ hope a good one!) in the world. ;-)

Yeah. Even if the idea was to accommodate customers, you still can’t always say yes!

Yep, that is a cool mug especially if you are a child with a hot drink!

My guess would be that before (and quite possibly after) they had those mugs made, a lot of their employees said “no” more than management would have liked or wanted. Reminds me of working in large corporations and institutions with lots and lots of regulations and red tape. (hmmm… I’m sure Viking would have had tape in their warehouse?)
