Zoe and Sonia made these out of some math manipulatives we have. Though we do actually use them to explain math concepts every now and then, I’d say they’ve been used for play much more often.

Hi Kristen – do you mind sharing where you got your manipulatives? I homeschool my twin eight-year-old boys, one of whom struggles a bit with math. (He’d much rather play, so I’d like to try and make math more fun and appealing to him). Love your blog!

Well, these ones I got from my mom, because she bought them back in the day when my siblings and I were being homeschooled. I’m sorry that’s not more helpful. Have you checked into curriculum fairs in your area? A lot of used homeschool sales will have manipulative sets available.

Love Cuisenaire rods! I used them a lot when I was teaching!
